Anyone have any ideas about this question? mathoverflow.net/questions/392231/… There has been so much functional analysis designed to help with proving properties of (partial) differential equations, I would expect there must have been also work for difference/functional equations, in which self-composition often occurs.

I will add a more readable link: For which Banach spaces is the self composition operator Lipschitz? And also a one-boxed version:

Q: For which Banach spaces is the self composition operator Lipschitz?

cfpLet $X\subseteq \{f|f:D\rightarrow \mathbb{R}^n\}$ be a Banach space, with $C^\infty(D,\mathbb{R}^n)\subseteq X$, where $D\subseteq \mathbb{R}^n$ is open and bounded. Let $U\subseteq X\cap \{f|f:D\rightarrow D\}$ be open, and define the operator $\Phi:U\rightarrow U$ by $\Phi(f)=f\circ f$ for all...

Q: Is there any process to appeal bans?

HWPoliceDoes mathoverflow have any procedure for appealing bans? I'm asking because I was banned for a week (I believe unjustly) due to rude behavior. Question: What recourse is there if I feel I was banned unjustly? If anyone's curious, I believe the damning event was where a user named 'tarotquestion' ...

Q: Protest for my account suspension

Makoto KatoI posted this question about two month ago. Shortly after this, I got a moderator private message. It says: We've noticed that you have a pattern of engaging in lengthy discussions in comments, frequently consisting of responses involving multiple, back-to-back posts. Extensive comment thread...

Should these two questions be considered duplicates? (1066: Protest for my account suspension and 5033: Is there any process to appeal bans?)
Maybe the older one could be merged into the newer question?
I have flagged the question - we'll see what will the response from the moderators (whether they consider merging a reasonable action in this case).

@TimCampion I hope it's ok if I ask you. (I do not know which moderator handled my flag - but you happen to be in this room quite frequently.)
I got the following response to my flag: "I don't see how to reasonably merge these two questions -- they are both about different, individual cases. Independent of this, an FAQ post with general information on the topic may make sense."
I just wanted to clarify that I meant "merging" in the technical sense - the way it is used on MO/SE: meta.mathoverflow.net/tags/merging/info
Basically all it does is that it moves the answers from one question to the other one. (I am not really sure whether the moderator has also an option to move also some comments when two question are being merged.)
Since the old answer seems to me as a reasonable answer to this question, I thought that it could be moved.
Of course, maybe it makes sense to simply leave the old question alone and add the information from the old answer (the email team@stackexchange.com and contacting the MO moderators) to your answer.
It seems that so far there were 19 questions merged on the main site and 2 questions on meta.
You're also active on Mathematics, probably you've seen some mergers there: main, meta.
