Without Palpy coming back, Snoke was a very powerful force user, yet unnoticed by both Jedi and Sith.

Then with Palpy in the picture, he was just a Force-controlled meatpuppet, which makes Palpatine suddenly way more powerful than he ever was, and yet again conjures up new Force-capabilities we hadn't seen before.

It's just too JKR-ish. Every new film introduces new Force-capabilities, just in time for its grand finale.

Just like every new spell/magic item in Harry Potter.

The original trilogy was pretty consistent, overal, with the exception of Leia being Luke's sister, which they only thought of halfway through.

Then the sequel trilogy introduces midichlorians, also R2-D2 and C-3PO knowing Anakin from the start and R2 suddenly can fly.

@AncientSwordRage The prequel trilogy had a lot of unnecessary problems IMO. Starting from a six-planet universe, a ridiculous premise for a war, worse tactics, and Hayden Christensen...

@DavidW at least some of those can be overlooked IMO
