which relies on never opening the myster box/doing a fake out switch for a bigger mystery

Then with Palpy in the picture, he was just a Force-controlled meatpuppet, which makes Palpatine suddenly way more powerful than he ever was, and yet again conjures up new Force-capabilities we hadn't seen before.

It's just too JKR-ish. Every new film introduces new Force-capabilities, just in time for its grand finale.

Just like every new spell/magic item in Harry Potter.

The original trilogy was pretty consistent, overal, with the exception of Leia being Luke's sister, which they only thought of halfway through.

@AncientSwordRage The prequel trilogy had a lot of unnecessary problems IMO. Starting from a six-planet universe, a ridiculous premise for a war, worse tactics, and Hayden Christensen...
