Q: In Orphan Black, who shot the woman, and who saved her?

user24353At the end of season 3, in a parking garage, someone shoots Who was it? Was it at the instigation of And who saved her, and why?

@Stormblessed And you may have already replaced her as the resident “la ferme”er.

Dang, I need 44 rep to run for moderator on Arqade
Also I don't really like Arqade...

Which means that the only reason to keep Jenayah around is to have someone French to make fun of.

I am kind of tempted to try to run by filling out the questionnaire and see what happens if I do that without actually being able to run.
Like will they delete it?
Can other people nominate candidates still or did that change?

@MikeM. please don't hijack random post, even in sandbox. It cause inbox message to be sent, which some people consider as noise. Post your own answer and test comments as much as you want under that answer. Thanks. — Shadow The Curly Braced Wizard Apr 11 at 14:17

I answered Arqade's questionnaire (but switched it out with SF-relevant stuff)

I've linked to it in my profile here

@Stormblessed You wrote you would downvote the question, but the discussion was about a bad answer. You're also missing a word after "very" in the second one.

@Alex Thanks. I fixed those

@Stormblessed That depends on the proclivities of the voter base.

Russ RainfordFor the life of me, I CANNOT recall the name of this show, only the pilot episode and premise. @Stormblessed Probably. I'd advise against it.
@Stormblessed No, only self nominations.
@Stormblessed He edited a now-deleted answer.
@Stormblessed Comments don't show up in revision histories, so... why would you expect there to be something?
@Stormblessed Protip: First become less obsessed about becoming a mod. Take things a little slower and take the time to make sure that you actually understand the principles behind stuff. Then you'll have a much better chance. Becoming a mod isn't like some glorious job, it's basically volunteering to be the person taking out the trash constantly. You have to deal with the worst stuff on the site.

Q: How do people get out of bacta tanks?

user151841In Empire Strikes Back, we see Luke in a bacta tank. When he's apparently "done", he's whooshed up to the top. Similarly, in Rogue One, Darth Vader is in a bacta tank, and when he has a guest, he's likewise evacuated. Once they're at the top of the water, how do they get out? When climbing out ...

I'm shocked, and frankly more than a bit disappointed that Despair Inc. has no applicable take on "great responsibility!" ;(
Closest I can find is "Irresponsibility" despair.com/products/irresponsibility
And that completely misses the point.

Q: Are members of the Night's Watch allowed to become kingsguard?

TermatinatorVery much related to this question Can a Kingsguard member be sent to the Night's Watch? but now the other way around, do we know any Night's Watch that became kingsguard?

@Randal'Thor @TheLethalCarrot one of the other 2 questions I still had XD

FWIW the answer is most probably not

well, the other way around there were at least 4 that went to the night's watch, so the possibility is there @TheLethalCarrot

I thought you can't leave the Night Watch for any reason once you join?

8:54 AM
the same is said about the kingsguard right? @Randal'Thor

Well, anyone can be disgraced in some way and sent to the Night Watch.
If you disgrace yourself in the Night Watch, there's nowhere else to go.
And if you do something honourable and reward-worthy in the Night Watch, that doesn't allow you to leave.

Plus in the show, Samwell tarly also left and became the maester of king bran

Sam was still a member of the Night's Watch when he left the Wall
In fact he only appears to be released in the final scene at the Small Council
So we miss how he was released

true ig, and i do admit we can't count Jon Snow
btw, side question, stannis said he'll make Jon snow warden of the north in season 5, is a king able to do that? @TheLethalCarrot
in the show ^

I'm pretty sure there are no recorded cases of it

Would this be a good question: which person killed the most members of the Kingsguard (Queensguard)
In the show I suspect it to be sandor clegane

I'd expect it to be Daenerys Targaryen.

Well Sandor kills 4 in the final episode so Drogon could only have killed 3 max

@Jenayah I have no truck with sales. They can pretend they're important as long as they're willing to allow me not to care.

Oh you want a funny story?

Always!

Last time after lunch I was talking with one of the service providers guys, and I don't remember how, but we came to talk about sales teams.
It was after lunch. There is (almost) nobody in my floor before 2pm. Nobody, never.
So yeah we were talking and well, long story short the project I'm working on isn't even developed yet, but if you go to the company's page there's already an awesome description of how it's going to change the lives of users, you know, the usual crap
(I mean, it's an interesting project. But they're really overdoing it in the presentation thing, especially when they're talking about prototypes and stuff when the thing doesn't even have the tiniest constructor method of a class yet)
Anyway, we're laughing about that and all, and I let out a frank "commercials, you can give them any matter and they'll hatch an impressive amount of bullshit over it"
(I mean, it's true :P )

Heh, heh. And 4 months from now you'll be on a death march, trying to complete some impossible feature that the company feels absolutely committed to because it's hinted at on some crappy slideware produced at the end of a multi-stage game of telephone starting from the project manager, through business manager, sales, marketing and some outsourced web developer. :)

... Guess who walks by the corridor JUST at THAT SECOND. The Product Manager of another product..

9:07 PM
Of course it's true. It's how they "justify" themselves.

I wonder if the guy I was talking to stopped laughing yet :P

hahaha

PM didn't say anything... I'm 95% sure he heard though XD

If he's a good PM he already knows that. And probably even worse stuff...

Maybe, doesn't mean I didn't feel like I made the blunder of the month though ;p

9:11 PM
It's when you find out that the salesdrones are promising stuff that's not even in the slideware to customers, and then management insists that you code to "what the customers expect," that's when you start to learn how software development really works.
That's why a smart PM does everything she can to keep sales from ever talking to developers. Sales people say "this would be neat!" and if a developer can be suckered into saying even just that it might be possible, then suddenly that is a feature that the salesdroid can use to sell the product.

Starting to go this way, it seems. Yesterday my tutor went "you know all this stuff I told you to tag with 'we'll have to wait until they send us this specs document to progress, because we have no idea what they f****ing mean'?"
"uh, yeah?"

@Jenayah Nah, didn't @Alex use to say that you were precocious?

"well, they're late and we have to make the development chart. So we're entering the fun phase of guessing what they mean and plan our days on this."

(The only proper response to a question from someone in sales is "If you can produce a requirements document for that, we'll try to review it in the next month.")
hahaha Of course.
That always happens. :)

@DavidW they used to, I never was, and in any case that doesn't exclude making blunders :P

9:18 PM
Wait until you run out of ramp-up time, and it's time to start actually coding, and you still don't have those requirements. :)

@DavidW yeah I guess I can't stay young and naive forever :P

@Jenayah Sorry, didn't mean to touch a nerve. Just the implication that you are advancing sufficiently rapidly in your understanding to achieve "wise beyond your years." :)

Well me and my big mouth certainly weren't wise on that :P

We once spent nearly 2 years coding a framework because that meant that whatever they finally decided we needed to do, we'd be able to produce that in only 3 more months!
Well, 'wise ass' maybe. :) That's part of the developer schtick too, you know. :)

Yeah but I'm still an intern so... Not the best course of action xD
