11:02 PM
Speaking of new users - John S. (new user) just posted his second question, which made me remember his first - did I do an OK job handling that first question?
I can get a link if u want

That would be nice

Q: Binary Bob's Programming Language Puzzle

John S.Binary Bob Needs Your Assistance Bob's Dilemma Binary Bob is considering going back to school to learn computer programming, however, Bob has been given some jumbled course information. Bob needs your help so he can make an informed decision. If he fails, I suppose he will just go golfing! ...

There it is

@North Also depending on such nuances such as how much time they have left, whether or not I can extend their time, if they seem receptive to hints...

whoops I forgot that I'd deleted my comments
So I guess asking is kind of pointless lol

@Brandon_J well judging by their reaction it seems like you did well :)

11:06 PM
@Mithrandir The one I went to, I was only given hints if I asked for it

Yes, but John S. seems to possess above-average competence

And that's exactly the type of puzzlers we want here :)

well yes

And if older users can help lead them to that direction, all the more better

I think it's always a good idea to be a tiny bit skeptical about new users. But when in doubt, I'd first assume that they're acting in good faith, then if there's evidence to the contrary, react accordingly.

11:08 PM
I think the most important is that they were receptive of the feedback
Some users such as [REDACTED] were not so pleasant at times

And may I ask who was this [REDACTED] character?

hey, don't talk about me like that

I think I'm overthinking this lol.
my wifi went out
@rubio you're funny

@Brandon_J Leave my clothes and looks out of this

well then

11:11 PM
:)

@PiIsNot3 I wish, but [REDACTED] already [REDACTED]
Now [RUBIODACTED] on the otherhand....

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? He [REDACTED]???? wuuuut....

Ah I see, so [REDACTED] did [REDACTED] and thus made you [REDACTED]? I [REDACTED]...

I think we're on the same page

@North [REDACTED] you, pal

11:13 PM
Rubio, I do have an admission
I always associate you with Marco Rubio in my head, which makes me think of Marco Polo, which makes me think of the pool game. SO I always picture you as Marco Rubio walking around in a pool with your eyes closed.
That could have sounded offensive.....
oops

What if I told you I wear Polo shirts?

gahh!!!! it's coming full circle
now you're marco rubio in a pool on a horse with your eyes closed while dressed business casual
that was possibly the strangest thing I have ever typed

@Brandon_J I personally see a more handsome version of Ricky Rubio, but that's just my perspective

He's a dog.

I knew that
but that wasn't interesting enough
now he can dunk, too
dang

11:17 PM
I refuse to imagine Rubio in a form other than this one:
:P

I secretly love that picture

aaaaawwwwwww

It's like it was a wedding photo or something...

it's like looking through a mirror...
:P :P :P

they captured my eyes so well

11:19 PM
too bad they didn't get your good side
jk
that sounded more risque than I meant it

I don't have a good side.

that's only because you're a circle?
:D

lies, he has a good side, it's his honesty ;)
hides after dropping paradox in room

(actually. I'm sitting on my good side. hehe)

hey we have more than 4 people here - maybe we could play spyfall?
just an idea

11:20 PM
meh

i'm, like, 20% here at best, so I'll pass

Maybe, I have a bunch of work I have to do

you don't hide well XD

I try to avoid games after two in the morning.

OK
it's always after 2 in the morning tho
it just might have been the day before

11:21 PM
...you're not wrong.

Or conversely, it's always before two in the morning

that's not the converse...

It's always 2:xx a.m. somewhere

hides after dropping paradox in room
true

At the moment, though, it is 2:22AM for me.

11:22 PM
but some places don't count

OK fine, it's the opposite of what was said. Better?

seems fine to me

actually, everything that's after something is also before it in a circle

Retteb.

dang it
typing backwards is harder than I thought
thguoht I naht redrah si sdrawkcab gnipyt

11:25 PM
Wow I missed a whole lot of conversation in the seven minutes I wasa afk

You missed my jokes, North. Don't worry though: You didn't miss anything funny

@Brandon_J I read through all of them don't worry

@North VTC: missing attribution

11:27 PM
I have almost 40k chat rep but I've still not managed to kidnap @Rub... liiiiiiiiiies!

wait that's not a tree

@Rubio I call b.s. on that you didn't draw that

Of course not. It's a Far Side cartoon.

omg that's a far side

The text is mine, though.

11:28 PM
Rubio+ Gary Larsen confirmed
er ==

@Brandon_J You don't get the reference, do you?

not +

and I had to work a bit at it to make it look even remotely close to the original lettering btw :)

didn't u make a post
about kidnapping the mods

40
Q: Oh no! The mods are gone! (and Rand al'Thor, too!)

North Dear Puzzling Users, Oh dear, where start? I guessed it started with my feelings that the mods are way too overbearing. And then I realized, "Hey, I don't have to put up with this sh*. I can just get rid of them all!" So that's what I did: I kidnapped all your moderators plus Rand al'Th...

11:29 PM
yep
you did

And then Rubio made that
And then he editted it

Noice

And then I was going to add redacted to the text but I was too lazy

so today I just found out that gruntled means happy, or please
opposite of disgruntled

Rubio can never be kidnapped. Rubio is always hidden in plain sight. Rubio is an enigma, wrapped in a mystery, sealed in a riddle.

11:30 PM
now I'm gonna say hom gruntled I am
er how
Hmmmm...Diet Coke can moving around.....must not be kidnap-worthy

@PiIsNot3 nah you can find him next to every Diet Coke can

So Rubio can now turn into a Diet Coke?
That's next level

sure why not
or maybe that little dog can fit inside
the diet coke can

@Rubio you better add that to your profile

nah

11:32 PM
And why? Just because he Can?

ew.
go to your room.

er,....Diet Coke Can
sorry

I found him

DOn't have one

not Diet

11:33 PM
I did not need to see that

The diet coke is next to the coke
Though Pepsi is superior runs

yeah no pretty sure he wouldn't resist enough from attacking the regular cone

regular Pepsi over chipped ice is the best

not the correct can sorry

I prefer sprite

11:34 PM
diet coke with lime is next, by the slimmest of margins

cause I'm kind of a boring guy

@Brandon_J delete before he sees that... :P

I may or may not like vanilla Ice cream

then diet coke, then certain brands of root beer, then regular coke.

interesting

11:35 PM
diet pepsi is somewhere just above algae-laden pond water

I prefer root beer for obvious reasons

so we have a cannibal on our hands?
er limbs

Branches

cherry flavored anything is actually below algae-laden pond water

what about cherries?

11:36 PM
Lies! Cherry Coke is the greatest gift to humanity, and it's been scientifically proven so!

> what about cherries?

actual real cherries are a different thing altogether

^^ somebody's too innocent...

Yeah

@PiIsNot3 PiIsNot3 has been found under the algae-laden pond water

11:36 PM
I'm a bit of a naive cynic

No maraschino cherries though.

no way Jose
those things are garbage

The worst drink is dihydrogen monoxide though
Ugh, one sip and you're addicted for life

I know! So watered down

@Brandon_J ...I'm pretty sure that was invented because people thought that "disgruntled" was the opposite of "gruntled" even though it doesn't come from that at all.

11:37 PM
"maraschino cherries" I... need to go away for a bit... brb!
:P

OK make sure the puke goes in the toilet

and then there's these things

@Brandon_J So in Rubio's can?

bah. leave my cans out of this

@North At least it's not the artificially bland abomination called Diet Dr. Pepper

11:39 PM
We can't

ugh. dr. pepper in all varieties ranks down with a whole lot of other brands of root beer

@PiIsNot3 I think diet sodas are for fat people organisms who want to feel skinny

huh

@North waaaaait... are you sure Rubio didn't read that as "So in Rubio's holy source of divinity?"?

gtg take out the trash

11:40 PM
@North I like Diet Coke because drinking regular Coke makes me feel like I've stuck a straw in a jug of maple syrup.

brb if I can

"I'll have ten Big Macs, 58 orders of McNuggets, and 10483928321 large fries. Oh, and a Diet Coke too, I'm trying to eat healthier."

@PiIsNot3 You can't get Pepsi at McDonalds. :)

Root beer imported from France or Italy is the best
Or Belgium
Or Switzerland
Actually if they're from Europe it's probably good. American ones are like root beers that want to copy coke

Personally I think Coke is less on the sweet side and more on the tangy side

11:44 PM
"Rooms are each associated with a specific site in the Stack Exchange Network, and are expected to be on the same topic as that site - for example a room for the cooking site should be about cooking, as described in the cooking faq."
Great on-topic discussion we are having here

[Sour] [Sprite] [Coke] [7-Up] [Sweet]

I've heard that's an excellent puzzle

@PiIsNot3 ^^ yeah... surprising? ;)

@Brandon_J VTC as spam for endorsement :P
Okay I need to dash, because I got some music stuff to do
ttyl

11:47 PM
Just trying to help ;)

Mhm, that's why I prefer Coke over Pepsi, cause then I actually feel like I'm drinking something not unhealthy

so you're trying to feel skinny?
jk

Sure, why not?

Someone could give a go to finding the final piece of this puzzle ...

Q: Where will this killer strike next?

RubioI'm going to try something new here... this puzzle is going to play out in real-time, so if it remains unsolved long enough the final objective will change. That'll be bad news for some fictional person, but no particular loss for those of you working toward a solution. The story here is long, a...

Q: Two, completely independent, means exist to obtain the same answer

Pieter Geerkens... one "local"; and one "global" 1) 1 + 1 = 2 2) 2 + 1 = 4 3) 3 + 2 = 9 4) 5 + 3 = 17 5) 7 + ?? = 32 Can you determine the correct answer and both means of obtaining it?
