ok that's not how these work
whatever
the "middle" is ANDPAP for some reason

I mean glass comes silicon
Which the abbreviations are Si waiit

nah. the first is definitely SAND
and the end definitely PAPER
but for some reason he's clued "AND"+"PA"+"AP" as the middle
which doesn't form a word, which is expected for these puzzles

But doesn't the infix make a word?
Well, making he isn't making a standard "Riley" (shrugs)

meh
My "incorrect" interpretation is, I think, a better answer than the intended one ;)

oof. true but oof
Ugh. I'm trying to make a maze puzzle, but I'm pretty stuck

12:08 AM
I see what you did there

That was unintentional until you pointed it out, but I'll take it
Ugh. I'm trying to make a maze puzzle, but I'm pretty lost
I'm such a bad tree

@rubio I'm just curious, if you defend a word in Contact that the attackers never guess, does the defender win?

If you defend a word in Contact that the attackers never guess, you've failed as a defender in creating a fair game.

... and everyone loses. :)

Oh poo
I've been skimming through the old Contact transcript
SUIKINKUTSU is a great word
Where was bibliopole from? Also Contact? Or C4?

sorry about my puzzle Rubio
It wasn't supposed to be a standard riley
Maybe I rushed it a little - 29/30 for the inquisitive badge
and I was getting a little anxious :(

hehe, no worries

1:07 AM
@Brandon_J Make puzzles for the fun, not for badges. Something I learned the hard way :P (hides the fact that I'm working to get Deputy)

Yeah, I usually make them for fun

Also, bibliopole just reminds just sounds like someone poledancing with books.

but I saw that I was so close
and so I rushed

Hehe, it's okay

Hey what do you guys about Soltius's latest puzzle? I'm tempted to flag it as too broad, unless it's cleverer beneath the surface. Hard to tell with some of these.

1:37 AM
"bibliopole" was an infamous obscure word that was defended in Contact
Also, seems to me that that puzzle doesn't have nearly enough information. But I may be wrong (especially because of the title, which might provide a clue).

I do hope the bit about the bridge doesn't indicate that Soltius is trolling.

1:54 AM
@GarethMcCaughan I feel like there's a pun in there
@Brandon_J You can also make puzzles to poke fun at your favourite moderators

wait, people have favorite moderators? that's, like, opposite of our objective here. :)

Pretty sure that @North put the British version of "favourite" - the one with a "u" - because if u are reading this, u are his favorite mod. I agree - u guys are all terrific!

That's why I kidnapped all of you ;).
With love, North
@Brandon_J Also, good theory, but I just like British spelling better than English ones.
