@Pandya The Trusty TEE is the reference trusted execution environment on Android. A TEE of some sort is required for most device implementations but IIRC the Android CDD only mandates that there be something that provides the kind of isloation required.
> When the device implementation supports a secure lock screen, it:

[C-1-1] MUST back up the keystore implementation with an isolated execution environment.
[C-1-2] MUST have implementations of RSA, AES, ECDSA and HMAC cryptographic algorithms and MD5, SHA1, and SHA-2 family hash functions to properly support the Android Keystore system's supported algorithms in an area that is securely isolated from the code running on the kernel and above. Secure isolation MUST block all potential mechanisms by which kernel or userspace code might access the internal state of the isolated environment, in
The part that matters is this:
> Secure isolation MUST block all potential mechanisms by which kernel or userspace code might access the internal state of the isolated environment, including DMA.
Samsung's solution is called Knox.

@JourneymanGeek :I :/ I do not see how that was either disrespectful or not a good idea. Also, I'm sorry if you didn't get it. I sure did and it doesn't matter if you didn't. Sorry again, i actually don't have to apologize but I am :/

@Nick and that's part of the problem...
It was disruptive and not the first time. And rather annoying

Hey guys, can I get some advice? Or at least confirmation that I'm right?

@CanadianLuke sure. It might not be good advice and we might be wrong but go ahead

A co-worker of mine got moved in the latest shuffle of techs, just like I did. I struck gold with my new site; his sites all demand 100% uptime and instant ticket resolution for every thing that comes in. I've told him that he needs to tell them he can't be in 6 sites all at one time, and he needs to prioritize. My sites understand that, and let me do my own thing, with the understanding I'm always working on items. He is going to get burned out, and hasn't even read any emails between all
... the techs since October. Almost 500 emails left unread in that folder, including emails that tell him of policy changes he has to impliment
I've recommended he follow my lead... Every Monday morning, unless a server is down and he needs to get it back up, he spends the morning going through his work for the upcoming week, ignoring tickets until he knows his environments are up and running properly. Then he can deal with tickets. Door shut, phone on Do Not Disturb, etc. He says he can't, cause his principals expect him to always be reached.
Thoughts?
I believe strongly it comes down to communicating expectations, both by his administration, and by him, to coming to a mutually acceptable working environment

@CanadianLuke Sounds like a shitty situation all around :\

@CanadianLuke it's really hard to say no without someone acting as cover

I'm kinda tempted to take a few trips this week from my sites to his to help, but I also need him to learn when he's had enough and deal with it before it gets too bad

Finally switched from the rather spartan LineageOS mesaaging app to Google's Android Messages app.

4:24 AM
@bertieb oooooooooh
@bwDraco cuz tracking ftw! /s

lol

Bob
@bertieb damn synths

FWIW, it's more of a feature set thing than anything else. It's the standard messaging app in Gapps.
Among other things, dark mode, support for arbitrarily long concatenated SMS messages (the stock app tops out at 2,000 characters and I sometimes compose extremely long, email-length, messages), and link previews (oneboxes).
Well, not quite arbitrarily long (as in 255 messages concatenated into one), but 10,000 characters. That's still much better.
(technically, concatenated SMS allows for messages up to 39,015 characters long but I doubt most cellular networks will like someone sending hundreds of SMS messages at once; at that point, it's best to send it as MMS)
MMS can handle up to 300 KB, and often more (depending on network and device).

Yeah, we know.

;P

You can force a text message to be sent as MMS by adding a subject line. To do so on the Messages app, hold the send button and enter a subject.
:p

4:55 AM
@bwDraco how's your experience with lineageOS?

5:20 AM
Rock-solid stable. Security updates in two weeks or less every month.
And blue light reduction for easier reading at night.
(though other phones may have it in their versions of Android, it's not part of AOSP)

Gonna say mine has it

To the community: Due to a personal crisis, I'll be exiled from home for an unknown period of time. Availability will be limited, but I'll try to keep in touch.

On LinkedIn, I found an ad for a free access point… I thought, “Sweet!”. I signed up for the webinar, watched an hour long demo, and thought to myself, “This is awesome!” I watched 2 more webinars, about their Security Appliance (MX), and their Switch (MS). To my surprise, I actually received the promised equipment,… Read More » The post My Cisco Meraki Equip

@CanadianLuke didn't realize you could do more than one webinar

i might do one and get a AP tho

Yo xkcd, I heard you like error bars

I don't fully understand that one...

@CanadianLuke There are a few xkcds that make me think that... fortunately there are a whole bunch of people who like to explain xkcds :D

...has anyone seen Harrison Ford recently?

Anyone has a history lesson about plan9? Is it a Unix or BSD clone or older than those? Or similar with GNU tools/packages?

IIRC it was a research / PoC OS
Built on the "everything is a file" concept
Dates from the early 90s
Folks on /. used to love it

@bertieb Golf GTI, £500?
mot'd to the end of the year

strokes chin thoughtfully
My friend drives a Golf IIRC
That GTI smells diesel-ly though
Lemme have a look
Only MOT'd till August
Last fail looks like a bad 'un:
> Repair immediately (major defects):
Oil leaking excessively from engine (8.4.1 (a) (i))
Power steering component leaking (2.1.5 (a))
Offside Rear Shock absorbers insecurely attached (5.3.2 (a) (i))
Nearside Front Anti-roll bar pin or bush excessively worn (5.3.4 (a) (i))
Offside Front Anti-roll bar linkage damaged and seriously weakened (5.3.3 (b) (i))
Exhaust emissions exceed default limit of 1.5m-1 (8.2.2.2 (b))
granted, they'll have fixed that to get the pass (assuming not a fiddled MOT)
Will ask my friend how Golfs are to drive tho

9:28 PM
Nah they're a good garage
pricey labor but fair guys

10:06 PM
Fair dos

A little bit of peace for now as I'm back home; hopefully, I can stay and this won't happen again.
Availability may be limited for the next few days, but things should stabilize afterwards. If anything unexpected happens, I'll keep you updated.
