You know, it really bums me out no one plays Natural Selection 1 anymore

4 hours later…
4:53 AM
just started playing qbeh-1
stared at the old route on world 1 level 1 for too long before i googled it and found out it was just an old routw
@El'endiaStarman i got the l star but not the e one :/

7 hours later…
12:22 PM
@quartata Now there's a game I haven't heard of in years

@ASCII-only I don't think I got the E star.

>_> oops i misread
well imo euclidea is like a zachlike, just simpler, and with geometry instead of programming
(same with the company's other two games)

1:23 PM
@ASCII-only is it a zachlike-like, or is it just zachlike-esque

@Pavel I haven't played Eldritch Horror, but I've played a couple other games from them. Elder sign is ok, but Mansions of Madness is amazing
Highly recommend it if you have a chance to try it out at a board game shop or something

@DJMcMayhem Oh yeah, MoM, got it too, just forgot to mention it.

Fantastic game

althhough the bomb fell through the table a couple times
which in VR just looks like the worst thing ever
you stubble around trying to pick it up and hit your head on your desk or something

You'll have to let me know how Eldritch Horror is in comparison

4:19 PM
@DJMcMayhem I have no idea if we'll even get to it. Only so many hours in a day.

lmao I just saw the best Steam review of DDLC
"It’s not free; you just don’t pay with money"
3

DDLC is the best party game :3

@Pavel you monster

@quartata Like I've said before: I'll never be an English Major in my life.

4:34 PM
@Zacharý Then don't act like one

4:50 PM
@DJMcMayhem Have you played Arkham Horror? It's very similar, but much more streamlined.

No, I haven't
I've played elder sign though

My understanding is that one is much more fast-paced, whereas Eldritch Horror (and Arkham Horror moreso) is more slower-paced and methodical.
Also, why are we not in PPCG-Gaming discussing this? lol

TBH, I didn't really find Elder Sign that enjoyable. It felt like doing the same thing for an hour with no real variation or overarching strategy.
A very similar game (although the core mechanics were completely different) that I've found super enjoyable was Harry Potter: Hogwarts Battle‌.

@AdmBorkBork Good question

By far my favorite board game is Twilight Imperium: The best board game you'll never play.

@AdmBorkBork honestly NS2 just doesn't look as good
I haven't tried it though

5:01 PM
I don't think I've seen anything about it.

No one plays it anymore either
It's pretty old

It still has players but

It's like Counterstrike 1.6
There's a super hardcore group of players that have played 24/7 since release and will completely shred you if you try to join

You mean the second most played CS game? :P
(1.6 is huge still)

Except it's significantly harder to find a game

5:03 PM
@Pavel sounds more like TFC to me

Jeez, I haven't played that since college.

@quartata Yes that's what I wanted to say. My mind just blanked for a bit.

TFC is great but players coming to it from TF2 will have no idea what's going on

I also wish Planetside 2 was still a thing but no one really plays that anymore either.

Which is a shame because that's the only influx of new players it gets

5:05 PM
It's a great concept

5:26 PM
I want there to be a Planetside 3
I agree, that game is great

I just realized it's been 6 years since it came out. On one hand, that's a pretty long time, on the other hand, I somehow expected it to longer than that.
2012 feels like forever ago and very recent at the same time

It's the Mayan apocalypse that's responsible.

Anyway... other than what's in this bundle, which I already have, anyone know of any good party games on steam?

in The Nineteenth Byte, 1 hour ago, by DJMcMayhem
Oh, and it's completely different, but Ultimate Chicken Horse is like my favorite party game

That too. I'm looking for as many ideas as possible.

5:36 PM
ultimate chicken horse is a good way to lose friends. be wary.
just saying

And it's part of this bundle, which reminded me that Duck Game is a thing that exists

@DJMcMayhem oh hey those are the Clustertruck devs
(?)

@Pavel Move or die is also a good one
@quartata I did not realize that

Clustertruck was probably my favorite game of 2016

5:50 PM
Anyone here played OneShot
I'm probably going to pick it up

can't say I have
what is it?

A puzzle game, but don't spoil yourself on it too much

Might check it out too

@quartata Never heard of it before, but looking it up on steam gives me really strong Undertale vibes

I think Sherlock played it
but he's not pingable in here

5:54 PM
:O I just realized I got paid today
Disregarding cost entirely, what would you guys say is the best keyboard?

pfft. look at this pleb "getting paid" in 2018

> I used to live paycheck to paycheck. But now, thanks to hard work and perseverance, I now live direct deposit to direct deposit.

@Pavel I prefer amazon.com/HP-WZ972AA-ABA-Classic-Keyboard/dp/B004YDSPSS I also have a wireless one
wait, that's not the right one, that has a 2-key tall enter key

Ugh, I can't stand tall enter keys
I have a keyboard with a tall enter, and so the backslash is moved up to where the backspace should be, and the backspace is half as big to compensate. Drives me insane every time I use it

I have a keyboard that's exactly like that, except enter and backslash are the usual
i usually sit with the keyboard on my lap, so i avoid anything with a bevel at the front or any extra plastic around the sides

I have 2 of these: newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA4RE5VR9517 They're dirt cheap, and stupidly simple, but I'm perfectly content with them.

@EricTressler I was kinda hoping for something with mechanical switches and rainbow LEDs tbh

@Pavel what about if I take the keyboard I just showed you, and add a massive lens flare to the photo?

6:20 PM
What the hell...

@DJMcMayhem companies sometimes set up scripts to adjust their prices relative to competitors, I think. I'm guessing that's how the prices go nuts for some products

6:38 PM
@EricTressler That has definitely happened. geek.com/news/…

6:54 PM
I just ordered a Logitech G910 Orion Spark

@EricTressler it's clearly a zachlite

7:29 PM
You know, when I first heard about the Fortnite short film contest thing I thought it might be kind of like the TF2 Saxxies which would be a good idea
But now I can see that my expectations were way, way too high
If someone can find me an example of one that wasn't shot in-game by a toy review channel, please let me know
Perhaps the problem is that no one's going to get a UE4 license for the purposes of this, whereas Valve actually provided with you an excellent engine tool built just for this (SFM)
Or perhaps the problem is that the audience is exclusively aimed at tiny children for the purposes of making Youtube ad revenue

SFM is still amazing

I don't know, you tell me
@Pavel It's so much better than the stock Source choreography tools
imo
I got to play around with it recently

I'm kinda surprised they went though so much trouble to develop a free tool

They use it for themselves

The Saxxiess probably generate so much free marketing though

7:34 PM
They first made it in 2005 for DOD:S so

Huh
I thought it was always a TF2 thing

Yeah, for the Meet The Team ones
but it was around as an engine tool before that
This was the very first one

Never seen a DoD cinematic before

(it sucked ass back then)
See, though, even that was primarily all game footage. You can still make good things like that
