Q: Why does Mithoron keep putting questions as off-topic?

JhayakharWhatever question I ask, he put the question as off topic.I don't know why.If I ask what is crystal lattice and tag solid-state,he will put that as offtopic.I wonder if he has no other job.Compared to the questions he downvotes, he answers very less.Please save me from mithoron.

@1,3-feeds lol, that's a rude way to ask. -1
@zhe you told me to make an anion but I saw that carbene is formed instead
Though I cant understand what happens after carbene formation.
Could you explain that @Zhe?

7:59 AM
@Abcd A new user first posts bad questions, and then shouts at a regular user who attempts to keep the site clean by voting to close them. Not only is it a rude way to ask such a question, I think the question itself isn't even justified.

Q: Why does 2,4 DNP give orange colour crystals

starunique2016Why does 2,4 DNP give orange crystals on reacting with solution of aldehydic or ketonic group. Why does this test give orange crystals. Is this related to the electron emissions? This is just a question from a curious student after 2 hours of lab work.

Zhe
11:59 AM
@Abcd Yeah, that was the other option. Once you have the anion, you can pop of the halide to form a carbene
Use the lone pair to form a double bond. That displaces the electron pair in the bond to be broken and you use that to form the other double bond
The mechanism looks the same if you just start with the anion and do the same thing
But instead of forming the double bond with a cation, you're doing a E1cb type mechanism

^ Post for reference >:-)
@Martin-マーチン Hmm, Clayden's makes use of the second diagram.
Then again, I don't do computational chem. so I can't argue with pseudo non-degenerate pi orbital issue...

1:45 PM
@paracetamol The second one is way better than the first, and for the purposes of practising chemists probably enough, even though it is incorrect. It really depends on what you are trying to say with it...

If 1000 kJ of heat is given to 10 kg of water initially at 300C, then what is the final temperature of water, if there are no heat losses involved? (Given, specific heat capacity of water is 4186 J/kg.K)
I am not geeting the correct ans
just tell the steps
@GaurangTandon I know its a damn easy question..
But even then I need help..

@gateprep o.O I literally just entered the room, and I never said it's "damn easy". Keep it cool...

Well not problem
Go ahead

you know that heat exchanged = mass of substance * specific heat capacity * temperature change?

yes
absolutely

1:54 PM
put the values
that's it

I did but the answer is not coming dont know why

@Martin-マーチン Right, thanks! (I'll ping you with the relevant question if I see it again)
@Gau @Gate Hullo! o/

@gateprep note that heat exchanged = 1000 000 J (because of the kilo suffix)

Yup
yes then

@paracetamol hey! \o

1:55 PM
Waves

Tell the steps one after the other..@GaurangTandon

@gateprep then I can't predict what the problem is. might be a mistake in the answer key...

I need help in chemical thermodynamics

1:56 PM
@gateprep Nope :/

@paracetamol what do u mean

Help in this
Just tell the steps.
Nothing more

@gateprep he sees all questions on the main site. just post your question on main site to get his attention. make sure the questions are good

1:59 PM
In theory, you could ping him under one of his posts... then again, he might not like it ._.

Ok I understand...

^ That's how I dragged him to this chat room O:)
A long time ago :3

I will do it ..But I don't have sufficient reputation even for that...
Can u help me in my question?

@Martin-マーチン you didn't explain this ... what did I do to earn this auto-flag?

@GaurangTandon You have been self-destructive
2

2:00 PM
^^ You flagged too many comments, in too little time

@Martin-マーチン understood captain

@Mart Self destructive?
I thought he was flagging others' (obsolete) comments? :P

@paracetamol actually: no. @GaurangT You deleted too many of your own comments in a very short time.

@paracetamol i deleted (probably more than) twenty old obsolete comments of my own :P

Ah..
@GaurangTandon Save it until Winter Bash ;-)

2:02 PM
You only get a warning if you're flagging too fast

Right..

@paracetamol rrriiighht ;)

and when you're out of flags... you cannot flag anymore... so there's no issue

O:)

is there an auto-flag for answering or asking too many questions in a short time? ;P

2:03 PM
probably

i thought of a new auto-flag idea: answer ten consecutive nomenclature questions before Loong does, and also get the accepted check mark :O

usually auto-flags are issued for critical content... negative scores, many edits, comments, etc

that should probably be a gold badge
"Nomeclaturist"

@GaurangTandon i think you misunderstand the use of flags

@Martin-マーチン got it...was just kidding...you took it too seriously ._.
gold badge is a good idea though

2:05 PM
nah i didn't miss the joke, you missed mine

it was a bad one though

okay I'll admit I didn't get the joke, nvm
btw, you forgot to put a featured tag on my last meta post @Martin-マーチン

that was hot anyway and only fell off the bandwagon because of the mother meta stuff
assuming we're talking about your script

@Martin-マーチン I know that... but this was a joke too . . . :/
your diet is running low on joke hormones today

2:14 PM
I'm debugging O.o

debugging computational chemistry code? that explains it...Btw, whenever you get your PC backup to normal, I would really recommend the combination of US1 + US2 + Crx
I've been using them for a month now and my productivity in editing posts has improved a lot

@Gate @Gau The last we've seen of Ivan:
May 3 '17 at 11:45, by Ivan Neretin
Hello. I would expect them to react even without water.
Many legends speak of Ivan Neretin's fabled visit, from the days of yore. Some say the boorishness of this chat room turned him off, other say he ventured out to other chat rooms in search of more challenging quests, and yet others say he met a most ignominious end at the hands of a room troll.
But all are unanimous in their belief that the ---King--- User Ivan, who (subtly) challenged the tyranny of Modkind , who scored over a hundred upvotes on an answer, and who cast his vote thousands of times, will one day return to vanquish what ails Chem.SE most!

uhhh keybord codes... I'm sure I can't remember half of them

Booyah \o/

and with the german keybord it's like breaking fingers...

2:22 PM
@Mart You interrupted my story-telling session :'(

Hmm, strikethrough doesn't seem to work ._.

@Martin-マーチン hmm, you can change the keyboard codes...and what would you recommend in place of keyboard codes if they don't work?

I thought it would ~ppp~
@GaurangTandon I'll tell you when I am done with my code

@paracetamol But of course
Though I should've learned that by now

Regrets reading comments
Well, I wouldn't have read the comments if you hadn't pointed them out... >:-)

@Zhe So how goes? O:)

2:58 PM
@paracetamol that's a nice story actually. 10/10

@paracetamol Nice

'Tis not a story! 'Tis the truth of our world! \o/

@CowperKettle has it ever?

they should just ban it worldwide, cowper!

Yes
Absolutely.
When more people will go to nudist beaches
I was a bit bored at our local nudist beach a weak ago, too few people.
With all porn banned, more folks will come out in the wild

@CowperKettle understandable

:O
those beaches should be banned too

4:48 PM
Then what will cowper do

Interestingly, as we guys were sunbathing on the beach, there was a motor boat laden with curious girls from the non-nude beach. They passed back and forth along the shore to look at us )))
That's when I realized that it's impossible to ban human curiosity.

Very deep

Nude beach (TM). Place of philosophical thought.

<strokes non existent beard and nods head in agreement>

That's why the Greeks, who went in the nude, were so philosophical.

Q: Rationalising the order of reactivity of carbonyl compounds towards nucleophiles

Martin - マーチンThis is immediately following ron's answer from Why is a ketone more nucleophilic than an ester? One of the most simplest questions you can ask, how can you rationalise the order of reactivity towards nucleophiles, which is given as acyl halide > acid anhydride > aldehyde > ketone > ester ~ car...

4:59 PM
@Abcd No ._.

@Martin-マーチン Where would you place alpha beta unsaturated carbonyls in this list?

@paracetamol yes

._.
@Abcd alpha, beta unsaturated carbonyls? ;-)

@Abcd somewhere in the middle ;) I don't know, That might be a lot more dependent on the nucleophile than on the compound itself

@paracetamol Thanks
@Martin-マーチン I see.

Zhe
5:01 PM
@paracetamol It's going

I see! O:)

You should ask a question about that, i guess it'll spark some discussion

Q: Reactivity of carbonyl adjacent to cyclopropyl group

Abcd We know that cyclopropyl, because of $\ce{sp^{\sim 5}}$, hybrid orbitals behaves much like a double bond. It even takes part in conjugation to stabilise positive charge on carbons adjacent to it. I would like to know if it conjugates with the carbonyl carbon too? Are there cases of 1,4 a...

5:10 PM
Maslenitsa (Russian: Мaсленица, Ukrainian: Масниця, Belarusian: Масленіца; also known as Butter Week, Crepe week, or Cheesefare Week) is an Eastern Slavic religious and folk holiday, celebrated during the last week before Great Lent, that is, the eighth week before Eastern Orthodox Pascha (Easter). Maslenitsa corresponds to the Western Christian Carnival, except that Orthodox Lent begins on a Monday instead of a Wednesday, and the Orthodox date of Easter can differ greatly from the Western Christian date. == Traditions == According to archeological evidence from 2nd century A.D. Maslenitsa may...

@Cowper Does it have to look, um, humanoid?

> As the culmination of the celebration people gather to "strip Lady Maslenitsa of her finery" and burn her in a bonfire. Left-over pancakes may also be thrown into the fire and Lady Maslenitsa's ashes are buried in the snow to "fertilize the crops".
Yes

@Martin-マーチン Why is acid above amide in that list? I dont think any answer covers that. Because oxygen being more electronegative takes less part in conjugation than nitrogen does?

5:11 PM
It was a great day

> Maslenitsa is a formerly pagan festival meant to hasten the arrival of spring, which was reinvented through the influence of the Russian Orthodox Church as a final chance to rejoice before the 40 days of Lent.
No wonder, the name sounded familiar XD

I could use some support here: Hybridisation of ClO2. I don't often advertise my posts, but I think the other one might outrank mine because it's simpler (but wrong). Thanks.
@Abcd Probably. I'd have to revisit that whole thing, but I have no time at the moment. But if I had to guess from a glance, it would be the partial double bond that hinders rotation in the amid
