Q: What's the word to describe "You reached the end of the list"?

JiuThere is a pagination UI on my website. it looks like: [previous page name] [next page name] When user reached the last page, there will be no the next page. So I am looking for a word tells the user "You reached the end of the list, no more page could show". I am considering about Last End E...

Q: Is there a word for "non-parent"?

CaterpillarI'm looking for a word that describes a person that isn't a parent, either in a gender-neutral or in a gendered fashion.

2:19 PM
@Færd I'll read it.
Although I don't find it so very strange.

3:03 PM
@Færd Ugh. He's more annoying than the Guardian opinion writers. Full of false assumptions and thinly veiled stupidity dressed up in pseudo-academic nonsense. insinuating moralistic judgements like a drunk uncle.

Q: another word for a dog's bark

mathI want to describe dog's bark. I have used the word "bark" several times, and want to use a different one. What's the word I can use? I checked thesaurus, but can't find one.

Isn't cunt something the English/Australians would use to describe a male person?

5:31 PM
@Mitch Cool off man.
It's exceedingly familiar to me. Over here we too have got an education system that blows individual talent out of proportion and ties it in with with individual success in a way that is irresponsible to the rest of the society. That, plus other things, constitute a dysfunctional meritocracy.
The even sadder fact is that these privileges are not furnished to the smart people in an equitable way. There are other factors involved...
@Cerberus Yeah, neither do I.
@Keepthesemind Exclusively males?!

@Færd Well, that's what I had always assumed. Calling a woman a cunt just sounds weird to me. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I've just heard guys calling guys cunts a bit too often.

I looked it up in about ten dictionaries.
Most included something along the lines of "an unpleasant person", even the American Heritage Dictionary.
M-W (American dictionary) had that only for men, tho.
@Keepthesemind Wiktionary agrees with you, however:

@Færd Ah, that's funny. Because I was triggered by an American calling I. Trump a cunt.

5:46 PM
> (vulgar, offensive, countable) An extremely unpleasant or objectionable person (in US, especially a woman; in UK or Ireland, more usually a man).
Indeed funny.

@Færd Ah, there you go!
@Færd Learned something. Thanks!
Or learnt. Whatever.

@Keepthesemind Maybe that remark had a misogynist turn too!
@Keepthesemind Me too, thanks!
Fun fact: "learned something" and "learnt something" will most likely be pronounced the same way anyway.
With a /t/.

@Færd I bet the main site would disagree. Maybe that the 'n' is deeper in learned or that your tongue touches a different tooth or whatever.

What you're calling the main site is a periphery to this chat! This IS the main site!

Just joking.
But they'd be wrong, I think.
But it could depend on your accent too.

Q: What would be a single word or phrase to describe someone who disregards society and its unwritten rules?

Wade LewisMaybe the English language doesn't have a word to describe this kind of person? Perhaps the word or phrase is another untranslatable language? (For example, Ukiyo: “The floating world” Which refers to living in the moment and being detached from all other bothers in life) Maybe someone here know...

@Færd 'learnt' is very BrE
or at least -not- AmE at all

@Keepthesemind Not a native BrE speaker, but I've lived in the UK a few years, and I agree that cunt is far more often used to describe men. Or, rather, it can also be used for women but I would venture to say that it is significantly more offensive.
Maybe even to the level of offensiveness the word carries in AmE.

6:25 PM
@terdon Ah, so, according to you, calling a woman a cunt in the UK would not be considered a language mistake but rather (merely) a very offensive description?

Yes
Certainly not a mistake.
No more than it would be in any other dialect.

@terdon Good to know. Could be useful. :)

I remember we used to throw the word around quite lightly when I was in university in the UK, but always between guys.
It wouldn't have been taken lightly if used to describe a woman.
Mind you, that was back in 98-02, so it might well have changed by now. I recently moved back to the UK, but I haven't heard it used so far.

Feckless, on the other hand, is the insult of insults.
If only I knew what it means.
I'm sure it's bad

@Mitch lol

6:31 PM
That seems about right.
Derogatory term for a woman, but milder definitions when used to describe men.
@Mitch You mean you would call asshole "feckless"?
Why would you want to insult an insult, anyway?

6:50 PM
@terdon You mean like the beer of beers? Why would a beer choose to consume another beer? Surely to get rid of the competition.

heh
It's enough to give one zythophobia.

@terdon or worse, parazythophobia
which is obviously...
near beer fear

hi

@Educ Hi. What's up?
@Mitch Is that even a word?

@Izanawistaria it is now

7:01 PM
Google says it isn't a word, I'm so confused

if feckless is a word then parazythophobia is a word

No offense to any, but I'm bad at pulling new words out of my a&&
Ahh
Parasitophobia is a word

oh feck it

I got that as a result
Oh yeah, feck that.

Google is great
I put in 'jksdflkj'
got 15 results

7:03 PM
hah

there's nothing new under the sun

There is
Always
I think

May 17 '17 at 19:08, by Mitch
there's nothing new under the sun

There are so many things we don't know about that are under the sun.

sigh

7:04 PM
The sun itself. It is so complicated.

I will grant you fully that there are some things that are new that are not under the sun...

So are they under the moon or something?
I mean yeah, could be. Possible.

under a rock

Oh, clever
But still, a rock is under a sun

the same place as where you can find all those feckful things

7:06 PM
In a way it is

or just one feck
same place as ruths

You mean fecking things?
What's feckful?

no, just one feck

@Izanawistaria the opposite of feckless
obviously

7:07 PM
hah

haha
jajajaja
(that was in spanish)

55555?

haha ... you know Thai?

Not in Thai?
Jinx.
Nah I don't

哈哈哈
(that's Chinese)

7:10 PM
I can't see that. Is that from your mobile?
Oh
I thought it was some figure or something
By Chinese you mean Mandarin or Cantonese?

probably works in both

Why do you use small letter to start your sentences here?
I only type that way when I am being very lazy
like this

I think you got me exactly
i'm lazy

Well, I don't have anything of substance to say now. I hope that's fine.
If we are having a good time then that's something of substance too I think?
I don't know

That's how lazy I am

7:23 PM
@Izanawistaria i'm doing well
and u

@Educ I'm great

8:11 PM
So the first floor is the ground floor in the US?

Why did she highlight those "I this, I that" parts?

@Mitch News flash: In the 80's, girls dressed like Madonna called their best friends the C-word every day, not BFF. Like...Can I borrow your polka-dot bra? No, you c***, I'm gonna wear it--gah! We were so powerful and honest then, beautiful and nurturing--not so much.
