I mod flagged this post for mod attention, because he is clearly the author to his own site. I've posted a comment, but IDK if this is spam-flag worthy. Is this something that should be reported to Smokey?

!!/help

@WELZ I'm SmokeDetector a bot that detects spam and offensive posts on the network and posts alerts to chat. A command list is available here.

@FrankerZ yes, he had 3 posts within a few minutes all linking to his page with no affiliation disclosure (also didn't seem to answer any of the questions)

@WELZ If it was just the first post (Which at that point was all I had to work with), would that still be considered something I should ping smokey about?

in general, when providing links. the basis of the answer needs to be in the answer (not the link)
(you should be able to understand the answer without going to the link - should be like a read more)

Yeah, but there's a big difference between NAA and Spam

6:30 PM
I guess there's no 1 size fits all here. take it on a case by case.

@WELZ You don't have code privileges, but I've created PR#1581 for you.

@WELZ So in this case, would you have reported it, or NAA'd it? (Assuming you didn't see the other 2 posts)

I probably would've just flagged as NAA. (unless I was sure it was his own site)

[ SmokeDetector | MS ] Bad keyword with email in body: Matlab Popupmenu listing by hekami on stackoverflow.com (@iBug @TetsuyaYamamoto)
fp- by DraconicPenguin

Smokedetector tracks when a post is naa, but why doesn't smokedetector have some type of mechanism to track when a question should be closed? This post here may not have been spam worthy, but the Contact Me was a nice catch to get users attracted to close that question as it was off-topic for the site. Shouldn't we be tracking these types of cases?

Conflicting feedback on Matlab Popupmenu listing.
Conflicting feedback on Matlab Popupmenu listing.

@FrankerZ Ah, the age old question. Main reason is that NAA is far easier for us to objectively identify than whether a question is on topic
Also, even NAA is of minimal usefulness to our tracking practically. It's treated as fp almost everywhere that matters, and it's usually pulled out as a "look, the fp's aren't good anyway" stat

@Undo Yeah, but having a category to throw the in-betweens would be nice to have. It's not spam, but it's also not a question. It already triggered a conflicting feedback on that post. What's the inevitable outcome of that post going to be? tp or fp? If it's fp, is this a post that should really count against our target spam? If it's tp, then most scripts (Fire/AdvancedFlagging) will mark it as spam, and idk if that's the intended result.

As far as I'm concerned, we're here to catch spam. NAA is a side effect, because it's easy to classify. Anything else is an FP.
(okay, s/spam/red-flaggable/)

But you could argue that off-topic can be sort of spamish...it's not content we want to encourage users to post to our site.

@FrankerZ I chose tp-, from FIRE, because the post explicitly offered money for services, which we're directed to consider spam. While I consider a system level block on such posts (i.e. tp), to be reasonable, I did not feel it was worth an actual spam flag, nor blacklisting the user, due to the penalty which is imposed for spam. @ArtOfCode I'm willing to do something different, if that's what's desired.

I did not feel it was worth an actual spam flag: This is the main problem I see here. If it doesn't warrant a spam flag, but is a TP, then certain scripts need to be rewritten.

@FrankerZ you're using the forum definition of spam. I'm talking about spam as defined by SE - "exists only to promote a product or service". Use red-flaggable, if that's easier to reconcile with that definition.
@Makyen which post are we talking about?

@ArtOfCode As @FrankerZ mentioned, this one. If the rest of the post was a half-decent question, I would have considered the offer of payment as something that's "reparable". But, to me, the "question" looks like just a description of work with payment offered (all due by Friday :-) ).

@Makyen Okay. I'm gonna say your logic is sound - tp-, but without actually flagging it since it can be made non-soliciting by just editing that bit out.
not that doing that would make it a good question, but eh

@SmokeDetector A mildly offensive non-answer that can be easily edited to not be offensive. Red flag or NAA flag?

@gparyani Easily editable = edit. If it's just fluff, no need to red flag. Might want to mod flag for the mods to have a record but otherwise, just edit (or suggest an edit)...

@Catija It's a non-answer, so it's going to be deleted anyway and there's no point in editing. Which flag should I choose: NAA or rude/abusive?
