I am facing problems installing nvidia drivers on my MSI GV62 7RD laptop with nVidia GTX 1050 graphics card. I added the driver ppa and then tried installing nvidia-3xx drivers one by one. But none of them seems to work apparently. When I open up the nVidia settings GUI, it does not list my video card. Can someone help me here?
Trying all of this on Ubuntu 16.04 GNOME
Also in the "System information" GUI I see the video card listed as Intel Kabylake...

@user391339 you may want to take a look at this answer to your question. You may be able to move back to 16.04.

So. I actually like the Unity editor better than Unreal Engine.
Also, it was the only one that I managed to get running on Linux successfully.

@terdon Who would have thought at 20:00 today could run in three days as well? I'm amazed the manpage doesn't mention anything about that!

So I guess it just clears everything left in the queue.

@AaronHall The only tablets I know of that will run Linux decently are the Surface Pro 2 and maybe 3.

4:31 PM
Boo... do they have GPS?
and no LTE?

I want something that doesn't exist. If Canonical had raised enough money fast enough we would have... my wife wouldn't let me pledge $700...

@Seth Is that how you do multi-spaghetti-threading in Python ?
@dessert sudo usermod -a -G boyfriend $USER

6:35 PM
@AaronHall not the M10 because Ubuntu Phone is not produced anymore
surface pro 2 + some rejiggering to put Ubuntu on there, that's the best one I've seen so far.
Other than pure Android.

I think I'm going to go with Android...

@AaronHall you get a huge assortment of devices that way
and you can then root them.
but not the S8 easily, because stupidity from phone companies

A student just walks over to my station, starts of with "Nothing works"
My partner gets up to comes over to help, and they're like "Nevermind, it works now"

So what do you want?
It's close to XMAS so it might take a while...

Heh, it's alright, I won't be home for Christmas anyway, so no need to mail anything. I'll be glad if scripts work and everyone is happy

(well, that one only counts if you have a job aoutside of Academia....)
(IMNSHO)
>:-) >:-) >:-)

Better thing you can do is give me an advice. I've a friend, and choosing a gift for Christmas, a leather journal or regular journal, dragon themed. Maybe you've a recommendation ? I found some, although it's hard for me to choose because I am an addict when it comes to journals

Male or female?

Is the leather soft to the touch?
(Dunno the word in English: Nubuck, lemme look that up)

No idea, I've just found some items on amazon.

8:14 PM
look for Nubuck Journal.
If you want to give leather to a girl, and she's not into BDSM, take Nubuck, that's just a little more $$$ than leather and feels luxurious...
Nubuck (pronounced ) is top-grain cattle leather that has been sanded or buffed on the grain side, or outside, to give a slight nap of short protein fibers, producing a velvet-like surface. It is resistant to wear, and may be white or coloured. Nubuck is similar to suede, but is created from the outer side of a hide, giving it more strength and thickness and a fine grain. It is generally more expensive than suede, and must be coloured or dyed heavily to cover up the sanding and stamping process. Nubuck characteristics are similar to aniline leather. It is soft to the touch, scratches easily, and...
Anything else I can help with @SergiyKolodyazhnyy ?

@Fabby looks at you oddly

:-) :-) :-)

@Fabby Probably that's all for now :) Thank you.

@ThomasWard Buying leather for a woman when it's not shoes can be misinterpreted...
Nubuck cannot be misinterpreted unless it's nubuck underwear...
>:-) >:-) >:-)
@SergiyKolodyazhnyy and when she opens the package and she feels it and says "Wow!" you can tell her she'll recognize her journal even in the dark.

@Fabby a star for useful advice

8:21 PM
And when she's drunk enough, ask her to try that out together...
:D :D :D

Well, she lives miles away, so no trying together :) Plus we're on friends status

@Fabby I'm still allowed to look at you oddly :P

@ThomasWard looks evenly at Thomas

@ThomasWard I know I'm odd....

glares chaotically at @SergiyKolodyazhnyy

8:24 PM
:D :D :D
Good one!

Anyone knows where I could order a journal with custom design ?

Probably Russia: lots of wood and leather artisans...

In Soviet Russia, journal writes you
Sorry, running out of jokes
