So. My father died recently. I went to go gather things from his house today (Oy, my aching back!) and packed an entire UBox full. I'm done, I have everything I can take. However, there were several boxes and contractor bags full of SF magazines from everything from the 30's to the 60's. I know he had a complete collection of Unknown. Saw some Fantastics and Astoundings in there.
I guess what I'm saying is that the bank will be taking the house soon and everything in the house will soon be thrown in a dumpster. If anyone is around Sullivan County in New York and is interested, please let me know and I can get you access to the house.
Oh there was also a garbage bag of popular mechanix from the 40's I think.
There's just no way for me to take the stuff since I live in Virginia. I'd rather things like the magazines go to people who would appreciate them, so I thought of you folks

@Broklynite If nobody appears, you could try to make a list of what they have an ask a used book store what they want, or even call one of those specialists who goes in site to buy such collections, although those usually underpay you.
Wait, an entire U-Box? That's huge, isn't it?

Q: Do animagi get to pick their animal?

ThunderforgeSay that I want to become an Animagus, and am really hoping to be a certain animal (say, a stag). I study a whole bunch and manage to perfect the technique. Do I get to pick the animal I wind up as, so that I wind up being a stag like I want? Or is it something where I just find out what I turn i...

^ magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/magic-story/… clearly says you can “Pick your animal and you could become it.” It's not the Harry Potter universe though.

@Mithrandir thank you
@b_jonas I couldn't hope to have a list, and they just aren't all that monetarily valuable. They would maybe sell for a buck or two apiece.
I should clarify that this is upstate New York and I live in Virginia and don't drive, so getting there is a long pain in the butt.
He abandoned most of his collection to his old roommates when he moved upstate. He just stopped caring about them. Thus the contractor bags

Q: "What's the best thing about planet Earth?"

Ero SɘnninAt the very beginning of the movie, Justice League (2017), two kids record a video with Superman for their podcast. One of the kids asks: "What's the best thing about planet Earth?" Just as Superman smiles and begins to answer it, the footage just cuts. Is the question answered anywhere el...

@Broklynite It doesn't have to be a detailed per-volume list, but something like "a complete collection of Unknown" is quite useful.

Q: Space battle fleets, intergalactic elfs

Danny3414This again from long ago, think I read it in the seventies but maybe later. One of the first times I came across the concept of motherships and star carriers, before that space battles always seemed to be between massive Lensman type ships. I remember some admiral type at his plotting screen giv...
