Q: How do you stress that safety is non-negotiable at work?

apaulI've been struggling with a recurring problem with my immediate supervisor at work for the last year or so. He tends to take a very lax attitude when it comes to safety policies, procedures, and maintaining safety equipment. This attitude has repeatedly put customers and staff in very real dang...

Q: How to express to my parents that I need more freedom

Matt121I'm a 14 year old boy living with both my parents. I'm often talking to my friends about something, rather it's about what they did yesterday and about what just happened. A lot of times it seems like they can do a lot more than what I'm allowed to do and their parents are a lot less strict than...

Now, that's what we call a true awkward silence. :P

meh, I was aiming for 24 hours ;)

A J
Sorry to break it. :P

@AJ Ah well... now that you've done it.. How's your weekend?

A J
Nothing much to tell. Went to see an apartment. Caught cold and now I have a soar throat. Took warm water with black pepper and some sugar to get rid of it.

@AJ And? Was the apartment any good?

@Tinkeringbell Yeah it was good, but the management in the rest of the building was not good. No proper maintenance and no security.

Ai... that's bad... Than don't do it ;)

A J
@Tinkeringbell How about ya?

@AJ Not much either ;-) Visited grandma, did some necessary shopping (and some unnecessary as well)... Tried to find an apartment to visit, but most of them are 2-bedroom and I'm only needing 1 ;)
Right now I'm cross-stitching a winter scarf.

@Tinkeringbell Cool.
Is it a gift for someone? ;)

Yeah, me :P
It's supposed to look like this when done

Good evening, I wanted to ask what the exact focus on this stack is in regards to questions/problems? Browsing a few questions that pop up in the hnq sidebar it seems that many of the questions have actually a complex cultural background - e.g. that one on asking guests to gtfo - yet that whole subject doesn't even seem to be taken into consideration :/

@dot_Sp0T " what the exact focus on this stack is in regards to questions/problems?" --> That's exactly why it's still beta ;) It's not very clear yet... We do encourage including a cultural background/ country tag whenever necessary though...

@Tinkeringbell oh dear, that's politicians talk there^^ - I was just wondering. Using the above mentioned example: it seems to me that the person asking the question comes from a cultural background where it is not okay to tell people things that are in any way negative, e.g. sending a person away that doesn't want to go. Yet answerers seem to be fine assuming a western stance of telling people straight that they need to leave. Thought I might just try to clarify :)

If I take a look at the user's profile, it states location as "Wien, Ostterreich"... If that isn't western that I'm not western either :P

Feel free to leave a comment underneath the question though --> You're right in spotting that if this wasn't about Western culture, the answers might be very useless....

I watched four movies this weekend. John Wick, John Wick Chapter 2, Annabelle: Creation, and Get Out. All of them are good.

@Tinkeringbell I don't know about location being useful in case of Vienna. As many central & big cities in Europe it can be considered a cultural melting point nowadays, with people from all over the world ending up there. Also the location doesn't necessarily reflect the cultural background even if people were born and grew up in that place (in Switzerland there's plenty of people that are second-generation immigrants - children from immigrants - in the current generations mostly from Ex-Jugoslawia)
they grow up in a very different cultural background due to their families often not even speaking any of the languages of the country they live in

Tinkeringbell has been automatically appointed as owner of this room. (What does this mean?)
