Is that normal?

IIRC that resolves automatically. You can blame it on flagging too fast :)

Did we ever figure out what was causing the longer time to deletions? I just reran the numbers, and it looks like it has mostly resolved itself. The overall trend it still up, due to the last two months, but the last few weeks are markedly lower in how long it took to delete stuff

Q: Why was this answer deleted as rude/abusive?

Dmitry GrigoryevI'm quite surprised to see this answer go, especially with a "spam or rude/abusive" epitaph on its grave. From what I can see, the last revision of the answer had 24 upvotes, 2 downvotes and looked like this: It can be done, with a few precautions. Don't put them in the same bed with, es...

@Andy If I had to guess I'd say reduced engagement
I certainly stopped feeding back much because I usually can't get to most posts before they're deleted

nvm. Saw "redundant engagement"

@Floern why wasn't that posted here BTW?

It feels like most stuff dies so fast that there isn't really a point
especially when there's glorfindel our household AI :p

@Magisch I'd be tempted to agree, but those are super sharp transition points.

@Undo In a operation as small as ours, two people stopping can do that
Especially when you go from 2-3 active during nonspam hours to 1-2 active
Suddenly you're relying on community flags in a dead time slot

But if the problem is that you're consistently not able to get your flags in, they should mean they're not 'needed'

It's perception
Some people certainly got that vibe for 2-3 days and then just stopped feeding back alltogether
even in times where nobody is here
If you don't look you'll never notice

Maybe. We should have the data to prove it.
Look at feedback counts per posts from userscripts, at least.

That was my educated guesstimate

@Glorfindel good question, no idea

Jul 8 at 5:15, by Andrew T.
I believe someone knows that we're going to have another Town Hall in Tavern on July 12, just a heads-up to deactivate Smokey at that time...

Why should we deactivate Smokey? It's not spam hour, and if the posts get deleted quickly enough Smokey won't post to the Tavern at all.
Can we deactivate Smokey just for the Tavern at all? (Short of kicking it out, which seems ... kinda harsh.)

Yes, that has been done for the other events IIRC
But I don't know if Undo just changed some config
which might be harder with all the instances running now, I guess
How is your mod-duty going on Apple @Glorfindel

Pretty good so far, thanks.
I've already used my mod powers to hunt down a cross-site spammer.

Ha, that sounds like both fun and rewarding

4:32 PM
@Magisch I know you are trying to help by asking Shog about Channels and Charcoal...but please at least look in here first before taking that initiative. We've already spoken with Pops and were told exactly what you were told - fill out the form. Bothering CMs isn't helpful to anyone and doing so to benefit Charcoal when we've already done exactly what you asked just makes us look pushy.

alright

Thanks
In other news, @Magisch, I'm going to encourage you to reconsider your desire not to run on SO. There has been more awareness of the need to do reviews this time - especially because of the top bar change - that may work to your benefit.

Maybe use good ol' FDSC

8:45 PM
@thesecretmaster Clarification: metasmoke won't accept moderator flags on sites you're a mod on. So, CSE. It'll be fine everywhere else.

@quartata it's wrong
Elected on Chem, maybe. He was a pro-tem on Chem and elected on Physics for a long time before.

@ArtOfCode But I'm only active on CSEd and a tiny bit on SO.
Oh, but then I'd be following smokeys links. I see.

Right

Is there a reason for that feature?

@thesecretmaster side effect of autoflagging, where we really don't want to use mods' flags

8:51 PM
OK. I didn't sign up for auto flagging though, but I see how that could add code complexity to let mods flag but not autoflag.

Not much, it's more of a design decision that "if we just throw exceptions when the system tries to flag with a mod account, it will never ever happen"
We're more confident now, could probably revisit

Oh, OK.

@Undo Oh, that's probably it then
