imo grass is pretty well golfed
@Chance any v in grass can be replaced with an arbitrary number of vs
I think
You might be able to move chunks of the grass forwards
You should be able to move a lot of the grass forwards
because the incident code only has vs
so as long as thats paired with an existing v it should be ok
I just swapped some DOs for FACs in intercal.
and put in a spacer x

@Chance Is that what you meant by Latin?
I don't know intercal
best debug messages in esolang history!
yeah
there there many spellings of the tokens
Ah, I took 4 years of Latin.
mostly esoteric IRL langauges
00:10
FAC probably comes from facio, facere
Aaand I busted Incident
Whoever does the next iteration should remember to change FAC back to DO
I try to take detailed notes for these kinds of changes. I tend to clean them up when my answers come around. :P
is there a problem with them remaining as FAC?
more bytes :p
00:13
or is it just to make th epolyglot look cleaner
ah, the good old golfing
I have the problem where I try to write code for my job and all I can see is golfs
There's kind of a hidden benefit to golfing polyglots. fewer characters make things easier to add.
I have a problem when I do a lot of comment hacks in my code now. :P

yeah

yay
nice!
you want the others?
00:16
please
everything is in order
have you tested surface
I've not.
It probably works
but I deleted the interpreter
I have the Interpreter on hand

I just did some rough calculations in my head, the polyglot has about 28 bytes per language.

@MDXF
Thanks for the help everyone.
What other answers are in progress?
I'd like to start a Python 0 answer, but I'll wait if other people are working on stuff
MX DF has a morse answer, and I have an Archway answer
Ok I'll let you guys do your think then
I'm supposed to wait for him to post because he has like 3 other languages he already knows how to add.
but i'm some what short on time so I'm getting my snswer prepared ahead of time, especially since MX DF already said where he is placing the morse code
00:46
Does he have a morse code interpreter?
I see he does
Here's the python interpreter python.org/ftp/python/src/Python-0.9.1.tar.gz
01:12
@WheatWizard Have you idea how to use the modular SNUSP intererpreter?
Oh yeah
Hit Show and then Run
didn't know I needed to press the show button
yeah, I didn't know that for a while too
everything appears to work, besides the stuff you usually test, incident is probably broken though.
just forogt i need to add the orse code because I'm going after MD XF
@WheatWizard Can you check this on the interpreters you have? Works on everything else. Also includes what I think MX DF's morse answer is going to be

I should probably share a link to the archway interpreter while i remember
It's the Archway.c file, nit the Archway2.c
01:43
Incident is borked
as expected
Moorhens and deadfish are fine
so I have to try and line omo in the middle, right?
yeah
I don't think that python 0 is going to work

Incident is broke
Can't you test SNUSP?
@WheatWizard Seriously?!?
I didn't change any of the tokens!
What does Incident do, and can you test the rest?
You did change the tokens
Moorhens works
I haven't tested but it does
Deadfish~ works
You overlapped the +.-- tokens
02:08
@WheatWizard Oh -_- fixing...
Also added #1 somehow
That's ridiculous
It should've already been a token
You probably broke an overlap
Man, I hate Incident!
add another #1 somewhere
Incident keeps thinks from getting too easy
02:11
Oh easy fix
Adding the #1 balanced everything
Nice
where'd ya add it?
Right before the morse lol

thats moorhen's territory
I thought you were insulting me for a second there xD

I need some help with the incident, my rearrangement of the bottom is making it harder to match chance's tokens

Sure, one sec
You pretty much have the two least experienced incident coders in this room rn

what borked?
Incident, no surprises there
Jun 5 at 19:10, by Wheat Wizard
Wow, I only broke one language on my first try
@WheatWizard Ah :P
Was it Incident?
02:23
Prelude
Also no surprise
THat reminds me, i have a few prelude padding spaces I may be able to golf off
@Potato44 Ooh
Wait, does everything work?
@MDXF everything but incident
(Btw I put "wait" more or less before every second message, I don't actually mean wait :P )
@Potato44 What did you (de)tokenize?
02:27
just look at th elink from just before, I haven't changed from that yet

okay
but it has the same tokens as the morse answer
can someone other than me verify that?
I feel like I'm going insane
ill check, see if the tokens match up

different order,and i think a couple of different tokens

but, the tokens are the same, a least according to the script
What tokens are we comparing to
@Potato44 Thats what I've been saying for the last hour.
I don't know whats happening
I'll take a look when I get back to my computer
the first lot i copy pasted over are the ones i'm comparing to

Ok I am going to take a break, this is really stressing me out.
@Chance Do you have plans to add COBOL or LISP? Is it even possible?
03:39
yes,do we have access to the source of the incident interpreter?
@Potato44 yes
@stasoid I doubt Lisp is possible due to all the parenthesis in the existing code
@stasoid we already have a lisp
Especially in conjunction with Brain-Flak
@Potato44 Do we really?
yeah, picolisp
03:40
I meant old, original LISP
It probably doesn't have block comments
@stasoid good I want to, but I don't it's possible, short of printing the polyglot on a punch card.
*don't think
I fully plan to print the polyglot on a punch card tho.
Then frame it I think.
this poly is totally deserves to be framed
I'm reasonably sure it's the largest polglot
04:16
I'm pretty positive it's the polyglot with the most languages
I'm gonna frame it once an answer is accepted
Even though I didn't do too much to help with it :P
@Chance How so?
04:32
I figure I can create space in the text for the hole punches.
@WheatWizard @ais523 @WheatWizard looking at that Incident issue. I don't see why it wouldn't work in Incident either. Hopefully there's a parser block in incident somehow.
05:06
@Chance I do like my soup. And @Chance, I think you've refactored more of the program than anyone else, and you've reworked a lot of it multiple times.
@MDXF I'm gonna be so disappointed when this is finally done. It's been a daily thing for so long at this point. Coming up on 6 months since the question was asked now...
@Potato44 the link to the Incident interpreter is in the starred messages. I try to star things like that when they come up so we can track them down more easily. It's the nethack link.
05:31
@WheatWizard I still have a YABALL answer, but that needs to be updated for the 5-ish langs we added

6 hours later…
11:34
@Chance You mentioned wanting to know more Latin. I think all the Latin you'll need for Intercal can be picked up from this file from the interpreter: gitlab.com/esr/intercal/blob/master/src/lexer.l
11:47
I'm curious, what definition of language are we using? I'm pretty sure we've deviated from the typical PPCG usage, but Morse got me thinking again since it's basically only simple output with no control/math whatsoever.
I'm also trying to figure out if Moorhens and Commercial can test for primality. I think I can do it in Commercial (horribly slowly and inefficiently, but technically doable...maybe)
12:22
(well, it doesn't help that this Commercial interpreter is buggy, or the language itself is broken; it's hard to say which, but I think you could test for primes in Commercial if it worked how the wiki page said it did)
13:19
What's the status on the incident issue?
@SnoringFrog I think with morse we are pretty much doing anything goes
13:31
On incident, maybe we should try the original tokenized. It was created as a ppgc challenge, and I added one of the answers to the test driver, so maybe I introduced an issue, or maybe the JavaScript version is betted.
I have
it works
I keep testing it again and again just to be sure and it always works
@WheatWizard you tried the JavaScript version?
11
A: Write an Incident tokeniser

feersumC (gcc), 324 bytes The function f takes a null-terminated string and prints the tokens to stdout. All newlines can be removed from the code below. f(char*s){ int n=strlen(s),b=0,z[n-~n],F[n+1],u,a,x=0,l,m,*t=z+n; int K(i){~m&&s[i]^s[a+m]?m=t[m],K(i):++m;} for(;b<2*n;){ for(a=b++%n,m=l=-1;a+l<...

No I have not
Well, that's the link to c, but the other one is on the page too.
I'm on mobile now, but I'd gues
Guess that's worth a try.
13:51
@WheatWizard That's why I wanted to verify if that's what we're doing
14:12
@SnoringFrog Well it may never be done, per se. Even after an answer is accepted we can keep working on it....

2 hours later…
15:42
@WheatWizard There is a visual debugger in Incident. ais523 copied some images of it in his Incident answer. Can you grab a screenshot of that?
16:24
Sure thing
I'm on my lunch break right now
When I get back I'll grab a shot
16:44
@Chance what did you want me to test?
Here's the latest link I can see:
<pre style="background-color:#000000"><span style="color:#AA5500;text-decoration:underline">#1</span><span style="color:#AAAAAA">6&#x2420;&#x2420;"}(o+</span><span style="color:#FF00FF;font-weight:bold">?2</span><span style="color:#AAAAAA">3!@-&#x2420;"/*\Dv</span><span style="color:#AA5500;text-decoration:underline">;'</span><span style="color:#AAAAAA">[af2.q]PkPPX)\('#CO</span><span style="color:#AA5500;text-decoration:underline">"1</span><span style="color:#AAAAAA">4"</span><span style="color:#AA5500;text-decoration:underline">;</span><span style="color:#00AAAA;text-decoration:underline"
that's it, thanks
there it is. It's tokenizing #LF
and there are 2 instances after the final jump destination
Ok so our tokenizer is bugged?
that's a good question.
and one I'm not really equipped to answer. I can't claim to understand it's algorithm.
Well it is getting the wrong result right?
it doesn't match Incident. that's for sure.
but there is a non-zero chance that incident isn't working as intended.
16:58
Oh wait
I think I'll try altering the whitespace in polyglot before passing it to the tokenizer.
I think I inserted a newline at the end of the program
Yeah
I used pbpaste > test.txt which added the newline
thats why this is happening
Every time I test I was adding a newline to the end causing the tokens to change
Ok this works in everything but retina:

17:14
looks like it works in retina also. :)
@Chance the way you "parser block" in Incident is adding a fourth copy of the offending token
it doesn't have a static parser block (that works regardless of the surrounding code), intentionally, because otherwise if the parser-block "naturally" occurred in the rest of the code, there'd be no way to polyglot around it
true. I guess I'm actually talking about a tokenizer block. :P
I guess we need to make a decision about Morse next
@Potato44 ^^^^^ That link should fix your incident issue.
17:46
@WheatWizard thanks, having a look now
Can someone check that it works in the non-tio interpreters, on mobile at the moment
@WheatWizard what did you change to make it work for incident?
Yes
that last link works in incident
Yeah, i know, but what changed to make it work?
18:14
I'm goimg to start writing up my answer now because it os unlikely wheat wizard broke any of the other languages while fixing incident. Tell me soon if any of them fail.
18:25
Reng, Japt, and Modular SNSUP all work.
Should I add Ook when Potato's done?
@Chance What do you mean?
@SnoringFrog @MDXF just this.
Ah :I
Well, I asked if I should add it and no one objected...
18:44
@MDXF We should probably save OOk
Because it's so large @WheatWizard ?
Because its easy to add
we want to save bf subs for when the chain is about to die
right now we have had several answers in a couple of days
