It was amazing to see Brazil just fall apart.

I root for Germany in World Cups in general (except against the USA, but the USA isn't usually a real competitor anyway), so it was especially sweet.

Part of my enjoyment also came from how arrogant Brazil seems/seemed to be about their football/soccer.

Yes, their soccer culture does seem to be that way.

To be fair, they're really good at it.

But on average, it's pretty fun to see someone taken down a peg.

I like seeing top teams lose and bottom teams win with the exception of whatever team I've become emotionally invested in in that sport, who I want to win even if they're the best team.

So I'd say it seems like it's fine since you won't get irrationally angry about design choices they made.

@Jutschge I can't recall the name, but there's one that revolves around scavenging parts off enemies to craft stronger weapons that have durability, but you also have a baseline unbreakable weapon.

Durability made sense in that game.

There've been a bunch with similar mechanics

Back to Fire Emblem, the rock-paper-scissors weapon system being taken is an interesting choice.

Prince of @Persia Two Thrones comes to mind, but it's definitely not the only one I've played

Fire Emblem uses durability for everything, IIRC, presumably to keep you from just spamming superweapons all the time

Ok now that I think of it... sometimes durability can be ok in roguelikes

Apparently it's a remake of a previous entry in the series that never made it to the US.

Nethack had rusted/rotted and +/- levels but that's not really the same thing

Durability on all weapons that aren't plot weapons.

Hmm. Valkyrie Profile had weapons with a chance-to-break, either in general or only when used for specific attacks

And usually later in the game you could find replacements that were as good but indestructable

I thought that actually worked out pretty well, you could get a significant power boost but only if you were willing to eat the increased risk of one or more of your einherjar ending up weaponless for the rest of the fight

I think I'm just going to wait for Wipeout next week and then Redout at the end of summer.

Those 2 look like they'll do just fine for my racing itch.

Distance is kinda different anyway it's more of a... Survival thing. The original game nitronic rush was almost like doing an obstacle course. The tracks were linear and had a start and end and you just raced the clock

(yes, that's intentional. the devs put a bug in, and people started using it so nobody is going to fix it)
