@SmokeDetector "Ultimate testo explosion" sounds dangerous
Could someone provide me with the Reviewer role so that I can provide feedback via FIRE?

@doppelgreener you should have it?

@doppelgreener don't moderators have that automagically?

Apparently I can't get an API key without that role, despite being able to provide feedback in general by virtue of having a diamond.

9:12 AM
Or do you mean on Metasmoke

@CalvT MS I think

@doppelgreener this time of day, @ArtOfCode and @angussidney are your best bets.

@Glorfindel Thanks. @ArtOfCode or @angussidney, could I have a reviewer role in MS so that I can get an API key for providing feedback via FIRE? I can't get a key otherwise, even if Smokey's listening to me in this room since I have a diamond.

Stackoverflow considering allowing full unicode in stackoverflow titles. This will make your jobs harder when people can add piles of poo to titles. meta.stackoverflow.com/questions/342024

We'll just add another filter to Smokey ...

poo -> report is an easy rule to add. We just have to make sure Smokey doesn't throw a fit instead of reporting a title with emoji.

@Glorfindel I think we already have one: Mostly non-latin title

user165474
12:44 PM
Why is there a filter for "Chinese character in title"?

@HyperNeutrino Well what language is most of SE?

@HyperNeutrino many of the rules are heuristic in nature, it's quite possible that they will produce false positives every once in a while

user165474
I see.

user165474
SE is mostly English. What about language SE sites?

@HyperNeutrino because we get lots of chinese spam advertising western universities

user165474
12:45 PM
Wait, they use English as well.

user165474
@angussidney Ah. I see.

@HyperNeutrino we have some rules disabled for some sites :)

user165474
Makes sense.

user165474
Oh okay.

user165474
:)

12:45 PM
@HyperNeutrino there are Russian, Portuguese, Japanese etc sites. Some of the rules have exemptions for those

user165474
Okay.

Don't worry, it all takes a while to wrap your head around

On non-English sites, we report the questions that are in English :-)

user165474
Oh. :-P

the Metasmoke front page includes the accuracy results for each rule
"email in body" seems to be the least accurate currently operational rule
here are the individual statistics for that heuristic: metasmoke.erwaysoftware.com/reason/27

12:48 PM
Yeah, but like LAEOA, it catches some of the spam posts that we miss otherwise

on each report you see how Metasmoke users classified that particular post, green check mark for TP (yes, this was spam / rude / abusive), red check for FP (false positive, should not have been flagged) or NAA (poop emoticon :-)

@angussidney what's LAEOA? I meant to ask earlier...

user165474
Ooh. That's pretty good. I see.

12:50 PM
Well go metasmoke.erwaysoftware.com and sort by Accuracy @HyperNeutrino

user165474
Okay. Yup, pattern-matching website in title is most accurate. No whitespace is pretty close as well. Thanks.

@angussidney Messaging number in title has 100% :P
@HyperNeutrino Accuracy is lil broken tbh, but is roughly correct

@Hyper In case you didn't see it, we're currently running autoflagging, where we automatically flag stuff that we're >99.5% sure is spam. We made a Meta.SE post about it here in case you're interested in reading

Pattern-matching website in title has 99.69% but is 1st, yet No whitespace in body has 100% and is 3rd

What a question face-palm
Feel like nuking it pero bua

user165474
fp -> facepalm

the blacklist and pattern rules are somewhat volatile because someone could add a really bad entry to the blacklist and then the accuracy will quickly plummet as the FPs start pouring in (though of course it would be quickly remedied as soon as we notice, but during slow periods it could go for hours with nobody here with the credentials to do anything about it)

user165474
Hm. Interesting how the system works.

@CalvT there are several with 100.0% but fairly low absolute numbers

12:58 PM
@tripleee true, but another example is Repeated url at end of long post at 4th, 99.94%, with 5436 caught, while Pattern-matching website in title has 4244
