Maverick: Non-conformist.
I have never seen that tongue inside!
daddy??
@TheX You're evil! >:-P
I don't care if he runs an evil empire... I would be glad to have him for a daddy, purely from a financial stand point
@TheX Why not Carlos Slim Helú?
who is that?
00:08
World's Richest Man.
wow he owns half of mexico's gdp
No! 7% of México's GDP.
that is still a chunk of GDP
for a single person
Indeed.
Where/How to find the total (download) size of the Ubuntu repository for a particular architecture?
32.29 GB - Lucid Lynx
I would guess it would be in the range of 59 gbs
00:20
@TheX I guess that it's around 35 gigs, based on ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=352460
I'm planning to create a local repository for Ubuntu 11.04 and Debian Squeeze. (When they're released.)
@StefanoPalazzo @MarcoCeppi Do y'all know?
what is the benefit of that?
@iamsid Know how to create a local repo or the size of the repo?
@MarcoCeppi The size.
00:25
There may be a way to find out
Off the top of my head - I don't know
Can I ask on Ask Ubuntu?
sure why not?
@TheX !Funny
It's 17gb for a single arch repo, i.e. ubuntu i386
00:27
and 30gb for both 32 and 64 bits
@StefanoPalazzo Link/Method?
my source is german
@TheX I have local mirror repos setup :(
won't help much
@StefanoPalazzo Try.
00:28
What's worse is they're all Yum localmirrors :(
@TheX that's brilliant :) (the video about google you posted earlier :)
I thought so
@TheX I love such stories.
and foxes.
00:29
lol
@StefanoPalazzo oh that lol
The comments are fun!
k I'm going to go for a drive now. See you all later
Autobahn!
?
It's on my bucket list!
Yeah
I'm going to drive along the autobahn at 250 kph, listening to Kraftwerk, as you do :)
@StefanoPalazzo Ciao. :)
I'd love to do that one day.
00:32
It's free
(not the kraftwerk cd, that's 9,95)
Haha. :) What about Sunday-morning drivers?
It's saturday night
All righty then.
good point though, the police will be everywhere. I'll be careful and listen to some John Coltrane instead
bye now, see you (:
Ciao.
(:
00:38
I wish we had the autobahn here... I would drive 200 MPH
Autobahn has no speed limit!
But 130kmph/80mph is the advisory speed limit.
00:51
@TheX I just ignore speed limits
I don't want to go to prison
Isn't there a penalty system in USA?
yes
Yeah. You have to catch me and my 1996 Saturn SL2 first though
@MarcoCeppi +Rules apply to humans!
@MarcoCeppi What's the difference between tag: repository and tag: repositories?
@iamsid One hasn't been merged into the other yet :P
One's plural and the other's singular?
:P
So which one do you recommend I use?
Singluar
Ta!
00:56
are you making one, ore more than one?
That's a tricky queschionne.

Q: What is the size of Ubuntu repository?

iamsidI would like to know the total size of Ubuntu repository (with individual repository-component sizes) for: 32-bit platform. 64-bit platform.

01:29
@TheX I commented on the answer, if you want me to give more info or update the actual answer ring me :)
Oh okay just a sec
aww man I would have to restart then...
are you on 10.10?
yesh...
I guess I don;t have 11.04 installed...
01:37
you don't?
i thought for sure I did
ya you don't
you have a free paritition
did you run it from a flash drive?
btw congrats on making gnome shell not look ugly :)
I may have... but that doesn't make sense
lol i worked hard on that
:P
if you tried it from a flash drive and did not install it to your hard drive that would explain it
I could have swore I had it installed
01:40
I started my laptop this morning and it came up "GRUB RESCUE >"
image not found
because I still had my usb hard disk plugged in, that has a grub MBR on it
:P
okay so I guess, since I don';t have it installed, is there anyway to install it on sda5 (the free partition?)
the installer will give on an option to "use free space" iirc
natty doesn't
I don't think
maybe I'm thinking of the Alternate Installer
it should
I have not used Natty, but all previous installers do
01:43
just a sec and I will let you know for sure
if not use manual partitioning
or don't do it at all :D
after i burn the iso..
not doing it at all would result in mission failed
and there are two types of quiters...
me and you
:D
losers and drug addicts
01:45
I am neither...
but if i had to pick i would be a drug addict
lol I'm addicted to comedy :P
waiting for iso to burn btw
okay burned restarting
01:49
uh oh...
keyboard is going crazy
that's hi for Vn's
*vietnamese
that was odd
I'm so accustomed to it I responded :D
01:50

Q: Can I remove the countdown when installing extensions in Firefox?

DoRWhen installing an extension in Firefox, the confirmation dialog makes you wait 5 seconds before you can install the extension. I find it annoying and unnecessary, is there a way to shorten or remove the countdown so I can install extensions without waiting?

Dummy question, I'll answer it if no one else does.
02:36
Answer it :D
DoR
DoR
lol
only lazy method I remember off hand is mr.tech toolkit
that was crazy
and my keyboard is going crazy again
sorry I disappeared earlier
my system froze and I had to restart :/
think pulseaudio had a fit
Yeah I saw that...
I need to resrtart brb
02:48
kk
had to get a real working keyboard before I went insane
this is getting to be a real pain in the arse....
@RolandTaylor did you crash again?
oops
I was writing my novel :P
well editing more like it :P
sorry about that
so what is your "novel" about and is it open source?
0
A: Can I remove the countdown when installing extensions in Firefox?

IvanYes, you can. I've done this once. Unfortunately right now I can't remember how.

in other words, can I change the title and then claim it as my own?
02:58
@TheX I'm considering open-source books - as in a concept I call Crowd Books
but this one - idk yet :)
let's just say it's the kind of Sci-Fi that gives you something to think about deep inside with a side effect of minor night mares
sounds like something I need to read, pronto!
haha
when it's completed :)
when will that be??
btw say this 5 times fast :D --->Nonoclyptonychus Arborealis Nigera Afarensis
I have no E.T.A. yet :P
goal driven people like me always have E.T.A's sorry...
whether it is an hour from now, or a year from now we like to give ourselves a deadline...
03:01
haha I'm goal driven too - and I had an E.T.A. until my father told me it read like crap (years ago) and - fast forward a few years - I started from scratch :D
I'd say my dead line is the end of this year, sooner, if possible
give or take a few seconds

you are a freaking genious
03:06
^^
accidently closed the tab... bet you thought my computer crashed or something
lol
nah :D
I had switched to libreoffice again
how is libreoffice coming along?
well it's looking pretty stable to me
I've had about 3 crashes in 3 months
or longer
and in terms of features, not much of a change from OpenOffice as yet, but you can pretty much feel the difference
Hmm,, I had it installed, i just don't use office apps much at home...
and at work I use MS Office (not proud of it :-( )
03:14
lol
I used to have MS Office on my system
I actually plan to put it back on just in case people send me more stupid word art to print
although office 2010 is much better then the current open office
as much as I hate MS, and everything they stand for... they lead the pack in office suite usability
for now, yes
I think LibreOffice has a good opportunity to pull ahead - but it will take for a developer community that is less arrogant than GNOME and more sensible than KDE
right, of course, things can always change :-D we don't know what the future holds
tough call - but not impossible
we can make fair and resonable guesses, but we will never know for certain :-D... except for the fact that the world is ending in 2012
03:18
one thing I must say MS Office has going for it is a well done design, even if it's confusing - at least you can tell someone put effort into it
@TheX shhhhhhhhhh!
2007 was confusing.... 2010 is a breeze to use compared to 2007
I might not set off my super-duper-world-destrutor if I find something else to do at the end of 2012
@TheX I haven't used 2010 yet :/
and I heard it doesn't work in wine
i have never tried it with wine
I read the installer is rated as garbage
which means it could work if someone is unlazy enough but that's not happening any time soon
can you help me format my answer better?

DoRWhen installing an extension in Firefox, the confirmation dialog makes you wait 5 seconds before you can install the extension. I find it annoying and unnecessary, is there a way to shorten or remove the countdown so I can install extensions without waiting?

03:24
sure
I mean if you have time, I know you are busy editing your novel
I took a break to look at some questions ^^
:-)
let me know if you like my edit :D
i made a minor change... removed the word hack and replaced it with modification...
03:30
ahh yeah that's a good one
because really it isn't a hack... the feature is there... just a little inobvious
is that even a word?
I've got no clue :D
lol
i am googling it
nope not a word
so don't use it in your novel
I added pictures for you now ^^
lol half the words in my novel are not in the dictionary :D
oh the joys of science fiction
DoR
DoR
@RolandTaylor That cursor a bone hand? Ewwww
03:34
I was just getting ready to add pictures you beat me to it :P
yeah it is ^^
I love palaeontology
anyways he would be crazy not to accept my answer now...
@DoR oh hi there, didn't realize you where right there... :-P
DoR
DoR
@TheX I already did, but please remove the bone hands :P
those are my bone hands ^^
sorry ^^
03:38
hmm my keyboard does not have a prnt screen key...
DoR
DoR
@TheX Use shutter
I use it too
I'll change the screenshots
DoR
DoR
Testing testing @#
i got it
DoR
DoR
Did that notify anyone?
03:40
@DoR no
@DoR there you go, less freaky screenshots
DoR
DoR
@TheX ^
@DoR btw good question :D
03:45
we need more dummy questions
like common questions users might ask
DoR
DoR
@TheX I got the idea to ask that question from the book Ubuntu Kung Fu
did you already know the answer?
DoR
DoR
@TheX Yes, I was going to add it if no one else did :)
Oh okay
yeah it's a dummy question - but a good one for the site
so new users can find answers to common issues quickly
brb\
03:48
who you calling dumb?
DoR
DoR
@TheX There used to be a cool site for ubuntu tips related to that book ubuntukungfu.org but it has been "offline for maintenance" for at least a year. :(
lol, that is because they want you to buy the book :-P
DoR
DoR
@TheX That is sadly probably true
you can download the ubuntupocketguide for free though...
I mean I don't oppose authors getting paid... or anyone getting paid for the work they do... but why don't they just tell the truth...
DoR
DoR
ubuntu pocket guide isn't really the same as the site though, it is more of an overview of the basics
03:52
"the reason we took this site down is so you ave to buy our books fool" would have worked
DoR
DoR
@TheX With a picture of Mr.T as well xD
of course :D
"I pity the fool who doesn't buy this book"
a picture of me "Buy this book or he'll sit next to you - for a day!" would work too
@RolandTaylor nah you are sexy I would buy your book if you promised to sit beside me... (just so you would attract all the ladies to us)
haha
lawl
I lol'd irl
03:57
my wife on the other hand would probably disallow my from buying your book if you promised to site beside me...
HAHA
I would disallow it too - seeing as you are married!
I won't sit next to married people to attract the girls - I don't support cheating :D
what is wrong with sitting next to another male??/
DoR
DoR
@RolandTaylor What if @TheX is a polygamist?
