i'm currently on my notebook because my desktop simply refuses to login.

from nowhere... yesterday i shutdown my pc normally and now, when i press my user and fill in my password, it simply goes back to the start on gdm

i don't even have session options to chose from

i read everything i could before coming here

@mwm Interesting - Have you tried logging in via SSH or a Virtual Console?

i can login to it through tty1 yes

done a bunch of stuff but nothing works

but it won't login

i chose my name

then it asks for password

press login or enter

and it blacks the screen and goes back to gdm start

showing the usernames list

the menu is disabled :p

I believe GDM populates it based on what active desktops are installed

Just hibernate that needs swap. Writes the memory to swap, uses it to turn off all power. Too slow though. I prefer suspend.
