Because IntelliJ can sometimes bork things up, you can always use command-line git to commit changes and stuff

Not really. Every float has a unique decimal representation. The only possible issue is that not all reals are representable by fixed-precision floats, and that doesn't matter for the challenge.

and I have a dedicated gaming desktop already. I need the RAM, 1TB SSD, and other things for devleopment

i run at least seventeen automated builds of software at once with one script, so the RAM and CPU is critical.

also Xeons are still better than i7s.

Not significantly, and they have worse single-thread performance.

The only reason to have Quadros is if you work a Disney and need to render entire movies.

ECC ram is slower than regular ram and is only recommended for critical servers.
