I deja vu'd @Jason telling @Glor he's jealous of his badges
Which I think did happen a few days ago

@quartata Especially Amazon oneboxes

back, although I'll have to go for a while in ~20 minutes

Soo @ArtOfCode any quick smokey-ng questions? I'll probably be gone for an hour or so here in a second

Sometimes AIM keeps loading and loading and loading. It only used to do that when I came here first in the morning, and it has been recurring more often. Thankfully, a refresh still fixes it.

9:02 PM
@Glorfindel That said I am the proud holder of the largest reversal on mso, lol.

@quartata there are a bunch of comments I had, but mostly stylistic or operational things, so they can wait

@JasonC But no rep on meta.SO

Poor shog

Nah go ahead

@JasonC nice :)

9:04 PM
I didn't put in docstrings yet I should do that next

@JasonC Nah, he was actually handing out Reversals

He got the smackdown on that +1/-1 post, lol

@JasonC Which?
Oh wait, I thought you mean a post with a score of 0

-210
Q: Should we discourage leading +/-1 on comments?

Shog9Update: The test is over; results and the final form of this restriction detailed here: Remove the limitation that stops comments from starting with +1 or -1 I'm getting really sick of finding folks arguing about votes, only to see that the bickering started with a comment of the form, -1,...

Misread
@JasonC Why didn't it onebox? Because it was a question link to an answer?

@JasonC no oneboxes, please wait, wrong room.

Yeah I dunno what happened there let's not think about it.

@Glorfindel He's usually not that polite when kicking the perpetrating oneboxer

@JasonC wrong link, it was /questions/ + the ID of the answer.

9:06 PM
I wonder if it's politically correct to refer to a flower as "it"

@M.A.R. at least, it's grammatically correct.
and IT has no power here ...

@Glorfindel But it's a talking flower
Or rather, chatting flower
Also VTC'ing

@M.A.R. but it's a talking flower — I rest my case.

Hyphen instead of emdash. -1

@M.A.R. forgot the shortcut, and — doesn't work here.

9:09 PM
Yeah, why doesn't it work though? It would've been awesome
Potential for abuse?

@quartata That's SOBotics, not SOCVR

Oh yes right

Well, they do occasionally onebox comments and chat messages on SOCVR too

@JasonC I wouldn't say "worked up," just that we inform people (kindly) when they break our rules :)

@M.A.R. IDK, but it does seem to be by design.

9:13 PM
We have a lot of complicated rules, and no one gets the right the first time
@M.A.R. yeah, comments and chat messages are usually OK -- they don't like intrusive oneboxes

@NobodyNada That sounds familiar

@M.A.R. huh?

@NobodyNada SE is just like SOCVR in that regard
@NobodyNada Here's an intrusive onebox
I wonder if it can even be larger than that

@M.A.R. I missed it :(

9:17 PM
....whoa

@Glorfindel Should I ask? I feel like asking stuff today on meta.SE
BTW, dunno if y'all have seen Animuson's answer to this. It's freaking awesome.

@M.A.R. yeah, I'm interested as well.

Q: SEDE [Post Link] magic column not compatible with one-boxing for answers

Jason CI am filing this as a bug report but I am not sure if the "bug" is on the SEDE side or the chat side (or if this should be a chat feature request). Issue: SEDE links to answers (or anything that isn't a question for that matter) in the [Post Link] column are not compatible with chat one-boxing. ...

!!/alive

@Henders Kinda sorta

@Henders Not every hour of the day is full of spam

@M.A.R. Sorry :P Just trying my userscript

@SmokeDetector that is epic

> I am now into my fifth day without taking my prostate medicine….and my problem with the eye flies has diminished to near 0%.
uhhhhhhhh

Yeech!

What I want to know is if that was automated and somehow picked keywords to substitute in, or if somebody manually customized it for that question

10:14 PM
> I noticed late that first day that my nose quit running like it had for several months before. I also noticed late my tear ducts were not over producing matter like they had prior to that day. And, low and behold I wasn’t being pestered with the Eye Flies like I had been in prior days, weeks and months. It occurred to me that I should make a mental note of this fact for future reference.
this sounds like a horror story

@Henders Your flags/day should kick upwards tomorrow - welcome to core

10:50 PM
@ArtOfCode So.. about those comments?

@QPaysTaxes you haven't just got the core role :P
@QPaysTaxes I just put the core permission on Henders' account

Wait, is that what "core" on MS does?

@quartata yep

It's what's used to fill the first two autoflag slots

ceil(max_flags / 2) flags are reserved for people with the core role
@quartata #1: Python should be 4 spaces, technically, even if it is accepting 2
#2: There must be a better way than that end-of-file import
#3: we should look at getting a linter on this

10:52 PM
@ArtOfCode I know. I spent hours trying to figure it out
@ArtOfCode I was going to set up code climate
@ArtOfCode nnnhh
I love my two spaces

@QPaysTaxes it's just a role, aka a permission

But fine
Anyways regarding the end-of-file import
@QPaysTaxes I follow QUARTATA8

@quartata likewise, but we should follow PEP8 except for where it makes no sense like 80-char lines
Our current setup uses PEP8 with 120-char lines

The problem is that if you put it up top commands tries to require status
Which in turn needs chat.handle_err and what not

@QPaysTaxes for some people it does, but it's generally too restrictive in these days of bigger monitors

10:54 PM
Which haven't been defined yet
Maybe the handlers could go somewhere else?
The problem is I want to keep what daemon imports to a minimum, since Windows isn't smart enough to copy as needed with fork

@QPaysTaxes cmake 3.6 required, but the version in Ubuntu repos is 2.8.12.2
shrug
WSL
that sounds like a bunch of effort for a thing
let's see if any of my real linux boxes have it
...nope
make errors
Scanning dependencies of target concaten
[  1%] Building C object CMakeFiles/concaten.dir/main.c.o
/mnt/c/Users/owen/Documents/Uni/concaten/main.c: In function ‘main’:
/mnt/c/Users/owen/Documents/Uni/concaten/main.c:4:5: error: C++ style comments are not allowed in ISO C90 [-Werror]

     ^
/mnt/c/Users/owen/Documents/Uni/concaten/main.c:4:5: error: (this will be reported only once per input file) [-Werror]
/mnt/c/Users/owen/Documents/Uni/concaten/main.c:44:1: error: control reaches end of non-void function [-Werror
no errors, what should I be looking for to confirm it worked
yep
I assume that running ./concaten is meant to output hello world

11:22 PM
OK this will teach me not to format code with regex

...when was that ever a good idea :P

Stock Vim doesn't know how to change existing indentation, nor should it

> decent IDE
Vim is a good text editor, but it's not an IDE by any measure

Eh.
Oh well.
I have quite a few plugins, but never the right ones.

11:37 PM
@QPaysTaxes You've got a lot of milestones in your readme... what kinda timeframe are you thinking they'll take?

@ArtOfCode Agreed. It's great for everyday config file editing, etc. but it's not really designed for serious coding, at least not in its default configuration.

@QPaysTaxes also, can I suggest using semantic versioning, to make it easier for users of Concaten to tell what versions their programs are compatible with?
@QPaysTaxes oh, sure, but version 0 is intended for that

Any preferences on things PEP8 should ignore?
Already did that. Set it to 120.

You're kind of doing semantic versioning there, but without the full scope. semver.org is worth reading.
aye, I just found out
@QPaysTaxes Aye, except you don't have a patch decimal

OK I set up code climate

11:42 PM
True. Might be worth switching over when you hit 1.0(.0), though.

Which runs some other nice things in addition to PEP8
And what do you know it's complaining about that import
PEP8 is psychic
although I'm not really surprised
I suppose now I should give instructions for how to set it up.

huh, why do I not have the settings view on CC?

You should?
It might be an organization thing
There's not much in the settings anyways, most is through .codeclimate.yml
Actually I don't think there's anything?

I've got a settings view on one of my own repos.
Have you got one?
Anyway, you might want to play with a few thresholds. Cyclomatic complexity probably 10. Similar code mass probably 50.

Huh. I can see a Settings tab on cinnamon-gum but not on this one..

11:50 PM
and disable blank line at end, because there should be one of those
unless it's telling me there isn't one, in which case leave it

@ArtOfCode Done.
Do you need me to add instructions for setting up an instance?

probably sensible, yeah
