String str = "Štring" where "Štring" is written in 1252 bytecode, works as intended. Reading that same string from a file encoded in 1252 matches byte for byte. But the character-code for Š is 352, which is outside a byte, every character code within a byte is part of the ISO_8859-1 encoding, which is almost identical, but differs in 8_ and 9_
And yes, It matters.

However, on TIO, it prints 2.
