It says that, Yagnopaveetham is "the best among those that purify; the one that has emerged along with Brahma (Prajapathi) at the time of creation; that which bestows life (longevity) and prominence; the one that is sacred clean and unsoiled; and the one which confers on to the wearer both knowledge and power.
@ChinmayaBThe sacred thread has evolved along with the prajapathi.

@SreeCharan @Tezz I think Suta Samhita answers your question of Dakshninamurthy.

@TheDestroyer did you get translation of Suta Samhita?..

@Tezz No. I didn't. But i think you can get Suta Samhita in Hindi.

@TheDestroyer where is it?..

@Tezz Don't know. remember seeing in Hindi. Not sure.
You can check on archive.

@TheDestroyer Archive contains in Sanskrit with commentary of Vidyarana...

8:35 AM
@Tezz Yes. I know. But i think i saw it in Hindi.

@TheDestroyer Ok I'll search it...
@TheDestroyer btw did you read Isha Upanishad yesterday... ?..

@Tezz No. I didn't.
Thought to read but did pooja and watched Isha foundation's ceremony.

@TheDestroyer Oh ok...

@TheDestroyer Is there a detail of that demon?
To Isha foundation, it was adiyogi ratri yesterday. Not mahashivaratri.

@SreeCharan I think so, as Suta Samhita extensively describes Dakshinamurthy.

8:47 AM
@TheDestroyer In which chapter suta samhita is there?

@SreeCharan Suta Samhita is not translated into English or telugu.
Suta Samhita is part of Skanda Purana.

@TheDestroyer It is just transliterated.

Skanda Purana is available in Khandas and Samhitas.
In Samhitas variant, Suta Samhita is available.

@Pandya You might know, Adi Shankara read Suta Samhita of Skanda Purana 21 times before writing bhasya to Brahma Sutras.

MODERATOR TATWAM

Svetaketu the son of Uddalka Aruni went to the sage Upamanyu and asked him 'In the days of Yore Bhava of immeasurable splendor provided you the power to see present,
past and future. I want to know what is happening in this age characterized by the darkness.' To this Upamanyu replied 'Dharma is in the lowest level there in the
present time. Mahavishnu should soon take the incarnation of Kalki to preserve the Sanatana Dharma. The world has been engulfed by the Mleccha Dharma.' Svetaketu again

Q: Was Shwetaketu born in a previous Kali Yuga?

Keshav SrinivasanAs I discuss in this answer, how the Vedas originated is that from time immemorial, sages known as Dhrishtas heard sacred verses directly from the gods during a state of Tapasya (deep meditation), and then in the Dwapara Yuga they were compiled into the four books we call the Vedas. But this cha...

@TheDestroyer haha lol...

@Tezz - what is Anand Tandava By shiva , I read somewhere yesterday , but never heard abt.this.

9:29 AM
@SwiftPushkar Aananda Tandava means when Shiva dances on joy... Raudra Tandava means when Shiva dances for destruction...

@Tezz oh ok , I was also guessing the same thing :)

> Swetaketu: Oh sage! How shall this trinity moderate the site and uphold the dharma?

Upamanyu : Dakshina murthy will re-incarnate on earth in the land near Kailasa and creates an account in Hinduism.SE. He will be known by the name Tezz. His display pic will be Dakshina murthy and his answers shall guide people towards enlightment. He will guide this trinity in upholding the dharma. The rudra and Brahma among the diamond trinity shall recognise him by the name Swami Tejananda. Those who recognises him shall earn more reputation on that site.

There is no mean to revive Vedas again in Kaliyuga?

9:47 AM
@Seeker someone might ask a boon from Lord that.. let Vedas be revived...

@Tezz Yes. Only means.

@Pandya do u have Rudra ashtadhyayi proper chanting in audio

@Seeker Related discussion Hearing Shruti , (2)

@Seeker but what is really mean by "to revive" .as you can see many people ,institution are doing similar kind of work. After all its "Kaliyuga" , So obviously it is going to happen as told in many scriptures :)

@Seeker vedas is already practiced but number of people are less

9:49 AM
@RakeshJoshi I don't have audio.

Oh. Got it. :)

there are some people in south TN and kerela who are preserving agni for arond 1000 years !!

@Pandya is it possible to get from somewhere ?

@Tezz Do you think the true sens of Vedas can be recovered by Dhyana?

9:51 AM
@Pandya even in modern time people have got revelations but they are not considered as rishis technically ...

@RakeshJoshi yes , Ahitagni

@SwiftPushkar in maharastra also some people are there

@Pandya Yes, we can get via mastering some vidyas

@RakeshJoshi Rajwade was there from pune

But it is more than self realization

9:52 AM
@Pandya you mean whether we can find 'Aham Brahmasmi' means I'm Brahman or My Antaryami is Brahman.. etc.. and so on... can be find through Dhyana or not?..

Seers generally stop their journey at self realization

many pathshala are also there. but problem is that people who join pathshala are worried about their career. what will happen after they come out of pathshala? will they be able to earn as good as enginners ?

@RakeshJoshi noy sure, you can try searching audio.

Yes, right. India has be materially prosper before.

@Tezz I mean orginial means (interpretation) of Vedas.

9:56 AM
@Pandya I think there is a Passage in Aitreya Upanishad.. who meditates on Brahman by thinking what he gets that.. for instance if someone meditates Brahman as Antaryamai he will find Brahman as Antaryami.. and he who meditates himself as Brahman will find himself as Brahman... and so on...

Swetaketu: Oh Sage! How come Keshava handle hectic work of moderation and at same time propagate Dharma, Leela and Bhakti stories of Sri Hari?

Upamanyu : O Son of Uddalka Aruni, When Sri Mahavishnu was sleeping on his serpent bed, **a single hair of strand** from resplendent Lord fallen unto Aindra Khanda. O Swetaketu, thus the boy out of that hair will be called as "Keshava". O Swetaketu, Keshava will propagate the past times of Lord which inculcate Bhakti. @RakeshJoshi:
word rudra and shiva have manifold meaning which is explained in my detailed answer. — Rakesh Joshi 1 hour ago
I'm not talking about name of the Lord. I'm talking about form of the Lord @RakeshJoshi

then what is the point of quoting devata ?

@RakeshJoshi It's just to start answer the question...

@Tezz i want to hear or watch some nepali video of vedas chanting . to understand the culture.

10:02 AM
@TheDestroyer haha lol .. Leela Lekhan is going on ...

@Tezz I actually wanted to say that there are various meanings/interpretation of Suktas of Samhitas. Sayanacharyas Bhasya on Vedas is considered most reliable. By recovering true sens of Vedas, I mean for Samhita, not Vedantic interpretation.

@RakeshJoshi I think no videos are avaliable in Internet... one has to go to Vedic Pathasala...

@Tezz :)

@Pandya I don't think Samhita intrepretation differ so wildly... can you give some example... ?..

I want your precious answer for this quetion @Tezz

http://hinduism.stackexchange.com/questions/3860/is-the-gadhimai-massacre-a-hindu-ritual
@Pandya do you mean that it is possible to revive the mantras of previous lost samhitas and shakhas ?

10:05 AM
@RakeshJoshi Precise answer is: Yes, it is Hindu ritual..

ha ha nice @Tezz proud to be Gadhimai participant ?
it sounds sweet when vedantins support animal killing ..

@RakeshJoshi Vedas support animal sacrifice... not only Vedantins...

@Tezz From Bhumika on Rigveda by Gayatri Parivar, I found that Means of Vedas are very subtle. They sometimes interprete characters like Vashishtha as some form of Energy. That's why I'm talking about True Sens of Vedas.

@Seeker sup mate

@Pandya both sense might be true.. only the level might be different...

10:08 AM
@RakeshJoshi Devi Bhagavatam says, animals sacrificed to Goddess go to heaven.

@TheDestroyer is it ? but in one of your answers you said meat eating etc is "last resort" when life is in danger :P

Q: Is the ritual of killing an animal as offering to Maa Kali correct?

manoI personally believe that a mother would never ask someone to kill her own children; moreover she would ask to kill the wrong and the negative things within each individual. I have been told in my community that if we do not follow our traditions of offering a Goat to Mother Kali, then our line...

A: Is the ritual of killing an animal as offering to Maa Kali correct?

The DestroyerIt's not mandatory to sacrifice animals in Devi or Kaali worship. But goat or animal sacrifice is considered as non-killing. The animals which are sacrificed to the Divine Mother will go to heaven. This is mentioned in Chapter 26, 3rd book of Srimad Devi Bhagavatam. This chapter describes proced...

@RakeshJoshi Yeah. This is an oppurtunity to eat in that way.

what you have answered is like its not recomended but only to be taken when life is in danger. this makes mockery of all vedic yajnas @TheDestroyer

@RakeshJoshi Both when life is in danger and Yajnas. Who can go against Vedas?

@Pandya enjoyed?..

be honest yaar !!!

@RakeshJoshi BTW, word is "Aja".

Q: Where do the Vedas mention sacrificing vegetable seeds rather than goats?

I think its high time i will have to write a long answer for that question. will do in a day or two
@Tezz vegetable or pistha pashu bali are later alternatives ... like that of arya samaj
@TheDestroyer so meat is satvik or tamasik ?

@Tezz I'm talking about recent star posts.

@Pandya haha.. Nice!...

@RakeshJoshi I think both, no so sure. But Kshatriyas can eat it.

when its given as Havis in the yajna still u have doubt ? @TheDestroyer

@RakeshJoshi what are the Sanskrit words?

10:23 AM
that i will describe in my answe but what if it says flesh of animals ? @TheDestroyer
you are satvik person so ..

Yes. I don't eat meat. I used to eat it lot especially Hyderabadi Biryani but stopped as i don't want to eat some flesh a living being by killing it. But i eat unfertilized eggs.
@RakeshJoshi
@RakeshJoshi Does it say "Mamsa"?

then what about vedas ... and rituals which support it

Because Mamasa can be anything which is "pluffy".

@TheDestroyer biryani which chiken or

@RakeshJoshi Chicken. I don't eat it anymore.

10:26 AM
i heard its very addictive ... it is true ? hard to leave it ?

@RakeshJoshi Yes. Addictive for materialists. But once you contemplate on killing and suffering it goes. You don't like it anymore.

ohh
then better to give up milk also because many inhumane practices are done in dairy farming
we are not supposed to drink the milk its not produced for us but for the calves

@RakeshJoshi Then, i shouldn't live in house too. Because i'm harming mother earth by exploiting. I shouldn't even wear silk or woolen clothes and there are many exploitations happenning in Kali Yuga.

but animal torture is more
chicken is only people use for eating but milk is even poured on god also is it correct ?
cows are given injections ... tortured

10:32 AM
@RakeshJoshi more than silk worms and constructing Apartments and multistoried building everywhere?

who is wearing silk ? hardly anyone here cos climate is so hot
moreover most of silk is fake and original silk is so expnsive that hardly anyone can wear it

@RakeshJoshi Why not think like this? Milk is offered to God and cows are blessed.

for blessing is it need to torture them ?
Lord is already pashu pati even without any discrimination he will bless all pashus

@RakeshJoshi Go to any marriage or temple. People wear Silk Sarees and Silk cloths.

that is some regional practice ... not all ovwer india

only 2-3 stats of south india

10:34 AM
@RakeshJoshi Why are we suffering. It's karma. How can we judge actions of a tiger when it has to kill another animal for it's survival?

further silk moths are insects .. cannot be compared to cow
human killing is highly bad then animal then insect then microbes etc

@RakeshJoshi It's all personal interests. I said before, everyone has their own logic in their limited consciousneess.

human beings are not made in a way to consume animal milk.. and not every milk is suitable.
no creature in world drinks milk for whole life
only in infancy
i m not saying this because you offer milk quantities yesterday in pooja but because of logic that chiken eating is bad and so as milk

milk can be consumed when cow is raised in goshala or house and after all the calves have taken their milk we can take the remaining milk which will not do injustice to them.

10:51 AM
@RakeshJoshi What are you talking about? Human beings consume milk for whole life, tee, coffee everything contains milk.

@ChinmaySarupria yar you are not reading the post properly. Human are not MADE to drink it ... they can very well do without it. for every mammal its needed only until infancy .

Well it's god will that makes us drink cow's milk.

i m talking here that is also gods will na ?
gods want me to convey this message

Everything is God's will.

thanks ... so why not accept gods will ?

11:14 AM
@RakeshJoshi:
@Rickross see one of the answers below for how people are relating to deity based on puranas and folklore . — Rakesh Joshi 2 hours ago
Which answer you are referring?. ...

@RakeshJoshi Majority of the people drink milk in the form of pure milk, tea or coffee, that is God's will, some don't because that is God's will as well.

And same thing is also shown by the Mahabharata and all other Puranas. For instance one should also see what Lord Lord Krishna himself says about Sata Rudriyam.

@RakeshJoshi my answer is not based on that point... it's just ending... In all the 9 points I have used Vedas only...

i have also given meaings of word rudra , shiva , etc

@RakeshJoshi your answer is based on Mahabharata ... like these are names of Vishnu in Vishnu Saharsaranama... antaryami of Rudra is Nãrayana etc... which is Puranic theory...

11:24 AM
but main thing is translation . words

@RakeshJoshi haha lol... I can also make the mantra 'Om namo bhagvate Vasudevaya Shankaram Bhugasayanam... " etc.. as mantra of Shiva by play of words.. But it is called misintrepretation...

@Tezz that is what you have been doing till now ..

@RakeshJoshi where did I misinterpreted?..

I have serious doubt on your information.. what is this "Bhugasayanam"

previously you attributed chandrashekharendra to sringeri mutt ...
and chandrashekharendra as chandrashekhar etc etc ..

@RakeshJoshi it's Bhujagasayanam...

11:29 AM
so i have seen such things in your quotes ... i have also seen many videos of nepalese chanting vedas in false ways ...

@RakeshJoshi it's not chanting in that way... It's called typing mistake..

then i will be waiting to hear some vedic hymns audios from you :)

@RakeshJoshi Oh then I'm sorry..
I can't make you hear...

this is not problem but problem is even when someone points out any correction you are not showing courtesy to accept error and correct.

@RakeshJoshi haha... for example:

11:33 AM
i m repeating 4th time

chandrashekharendra did not belong to sringeri but kanchi mutt
his name was not CHANDRASHEKHAR but chandrashekharendra saraswati ...

@RakeshJoshi so what? ... am I saying no ...? Whether he belongs to Kanchi mutt or Sringeri Mutt is not important at all...

whether important or not ,.. misinformation should be corrected. you should have courtesy to acknowledge and apologize .

@RakeshJoshi I had already told that I mistakenly wrote Sringeri mutt...

name also wrong mutt also wrong ..
leave it yaar .

@RakeshJoshi actually you should leave it... I think you are taking this simple thing too seriously..

11:36 AM
how many such things you would have done in the process of gaining thousands of reps ...
it can mislead people .

@RakeshJoshi show any mistake in any of my answer... I'll immediately correct it...

its a long process.

@RakeshJoshi show as an example..
I'll immediately correct it...

when i find i will . i cant see whole site in 1 day

@RakeshJoshi Ok...

11:40 AM
BTW swetasvatara upanishad is part of which samhita?

@RakeshJoshi it takes mantra from many samhitas like Purush Suktam, Skambha Suktam, Sri Rudram, Taittariya Aranyaka, Yajurveda Samhita etc...

its part of samhita or not ?

@RakeshJoshi it's Samhita + Aranyaka + Upanishad... that's why it's also called Mantropanishad...

mantra specifically refers samhita riks

@RakeshJoshi yes that's what I'm telling... It's combinations of Riks, Aranyaks and Upanishads....

11:45 AM
if this upanishad belongs to krishna yaju how come it has mantras of shukla yajurveda?

@RakeshJoshi it's because Shukla and Krishna Yajurveda has many mantras in common...

so isha upanishad mantras are present in krishna yaju also ?

what according to you is the time of composing of Krishna yaju

@RakeshJoshi Vedas are eternal scripture... there can't be time of composition of them... it's not like novel story etc...

:D
every veda has chronology and approximate dating ..
Swetaswatara is believed to be composed around 400 BC .

@RakeshJoshi it's western indologist belief... if you want to believe Vedas are composed scriptures then you can believe....

11:57 AM
yaar you are not able to get simple thing

when Swetaswatara contains mantra of isha and brihadaranyaka then it must be later to them right ?

@RakeshJoshi No, Vedas do not work in that way... however you may believe in it...

by comparing the grammar and prose/poetry style etc scholars decide these things. its not western concept but there are indological studies done by scholars of indian universities. do not reject them if such things doesnt exist in nepal

@RakeshJoshi Earth has India, India is on earth, Vedas work similarly, they cannot be separate.

you were active enough to declare kalisantarana as a modern day scriputure and not genuine upanishad .. on what basis you said so ? @Tezz

@RakeshJoshi these method can be used to determine to some level... but not to mean that Vedas are composed...

12:01 PM
revelations have happened to different people at different time over period of centuries or milenumum .. its not done in 1 day !! @Tezz

@RakeshJoshi I can't declare it... I can only say it's likely to be of latter date...

so later date makes it shruti or not? @Tezz

@RakeshJoshi revelations are eternal things.. so they can't be compared with time...

not comparing with time but i m saying they were revealed in different times
before gayatri revelations people were following different worship.

@RakeshJoshi if it's not a Upanishad (just someone fakely composed it)... then it's not Shruti... otherwise it is Shruti...

12:02 PM
@Tezz how will you know if its fake or real what are the parameters ?
@TheDestroyer how you say if kalisantarana , shailopanishad and allopanishad are genuine or not ?

@RakeshJoshi I can't have parameters... we can see quotatiobs like Shankara, Ramanuja, etc....

@Tezz that is the reeality you are not aware of any such parameters.
but we here in india have universities like BHU and others have indological deparment many scholars study languages and sciptures
the meter (chhandas) , style, language, many other factors.

@RakeshJoshi you may also consider Allaopanishad as Genuine and recite it 3 times a day... ЁЯШАЁЯША you may also quote them in Hinduism SE answers here... let's see how people react...

i wanted to show you that not all scripture with "upanishad" name becomes vedas
swetaswatara is relatively new upanishad than early vedic literature.

@RakeshJoshi Ok India is great... it has many things.... we don't have anythings here... we don't know anything... Satisfied?...

12:06 PM
no its not indra
sorry india

@RakeshJoshi Why do you think scholars are great people who know everything? Those people try to fit Vedas with current environment, reality is Vedas are beyond normal people's understanding.

@ChinmaySarupria then you refute them we will accept your words.
if vedas is beyond understanding then people here at SE should stop quoting them :)

@RakeshJoshi also lets assume Svetasvatara is latter day Upanishad... then what are you going to show through it?..

same thing which i showed that vedanta sutra is later day text of 400 AD and not written by vyasa
and that badarayana must be someone who lived around that time .
brahma sutra has mention of buddhist schools hence it is post madhyamaka era .
like how it has to be analysed

@RakeshJoshi let's assume Brahma Sutra is post Buddhist era... then what difference does it make?.. Brahma Sutras itself aren't Pramana... it's just logical analysis...

12:12 PM
that means vedanta school only emerged during that era .
its not assumption . when brahma sutra speaks of buddhist doctrine then it has to be post buddist

@RakeshJoshi you may believe that Brahma Sutras are post Buddhism as they refute Buddhism... but we believe thay it's pre Buddhist text and Vyasa being omniscient and knowing about emergence of Buddhism also wrote about it...

when why he not write about islam and sikhism in brama sutra?
if it has to be accepted that vyasa is the author then vyasa should have lived during 400 AD !!!!!

@RakeshJoshi because he didn't wanted to write...

if it has to be accepted that vyasa is the author then vyasa should have lived during 400 AD !!!!!

Better to know the meaning of Sacrifice before animal sacrifice. Only our beloved one are supposed to be sacrificed to the Brahm.

2:00 PM
@RakeshJoshi Beyond understanding means you can't just pick up any Veda and think you will understand them, it requires realized guru.

@ChinmaySarupria again repeat "if vedas is beyond understanding without a realized guru then people here at SE should stop quoting them"

@RakeshJoshi Most of the verses from Vedas are quoted with someone's commentary like Adi Shankara or Sri Ramanuja.

but how many here have realized gurus ?

How is that related to someone posting a Veda verse supported with commentaries of realized souls?
It doesn't matter if someone here has realized guru or not as long as they are also posting supporting commentary.

dont use childish logic >>

"" you can't just pick up any Veda and think you will understand them, it requires realized guru.""
this is said by you.
when you can declare shivaji chatrapati and narendra modi as avatar then wat is big deal in declaring anyone as realized soul for you ? @ChinmaySarupria

2:06 PM
Looks like you didn't read my last 2 comments, I clearly said verses from Vedas should be accompanied by commentary on that particular verse by realized gurus like Adi Shankara and Sri ramanuja.
@RakeshJoshi Swami Vivekananda said Shivaji was avatar, I didn't.

@ChinmaySarupria so you believe that shivaji was avatar or not ? be clear ?

@RakeshJoshi Well I believe in Swami Vivekananda's words.

@ChinmaySarupria you have to go thru this so called vedanta ....

if you believe both ramanuja and sankara were realized then there is big differences in their commentaries ..

further later acharyas have criticized him badly ...

so which one to believe ?
someone said you sankara is realized you beleived .. someone said you ramanuja was realized you believed .

@RakeshJoshi There are many paths to God, you can reach ocean by West Bengal or by Orissa.
Someone choses the path of devotion, the other of Jnana.

but @ChinmaySarupria when realized souls (ramanuja , madhwa) say sankara was not realized then ?
blind belief is not good
i have made a thread where i have showed how some hymns are wrongly associated with sankara @ChinmaySarupria

2:12 PM
@ChinmaySarupria getting the right answer doesn't necessarily mean, solution was correct.

When did they say that? Even if they said it, it can be justified, Adi Shankara's path is Advaita and Sri Ramanuja's path is Visistadvaita so naturally they must refute the other if they have to say their path is the correct one.

then dont make such illogical statements that we should believe realized acharyas . cos one acharya has said that sankara was a drunkard ... so why should i accept drunkard commentary as correct ?

@Seeker "getting the right answer..." You are referring to which comment?
@RakeshJoshi So you think only one person can be right?
@RakeshJoshi Adi Shankara praised Buddha in one of his stotras but in Badrinath, he replaced idol of Buddha with that of Vishnu, that's why I said actions of such people are beyond understanding of non-realized souls like you and me.
@RakeshJoshi You think that Vedas, Upanishads, scriptures are basic text that can be understood at once by anyone reading it, if it were, you would have already got Moksha by now.
but you are still here.

3:01 PM
@ChinmaySarupria I meant there can be many paths to brahm but it is not necessary every path is the right one.

3:12 PM
@ChinmaySarupria

the refutation and accuses made on sankara has nothing to do with stotras or calling buddha a god but based on his commentaries and yukti/logic behind it.

@Tezz Hahahaha

@Seeker Yeah, that is indeed correct. What I said to him is that there can be and are multiple paths to God and not just one because he thinks for everything, only 1 path can be correct.

@TheDestroyer Haha

@KeshavSrinivasan Waiting for your views on lucid dreaming.

@ChinmaySarupria its your assumption i never said one path is true.

3:18 PM
Sir @RakeshJoshi Sometimes unreal becomes the synonym of impermanent. And real permanent

@RakeshJoshi You did say Adi Shankara and Sri Ramanuja's path were different and Sri Ramanuja criticized Adi Shankara, so you do believe that only one of them is realized and the other one is not, right?

Now, we must understand this.
Self realization doesn't necessarily imply omniscience.

yes but vedantaq is just one path and we were discussing sub sects of vedanta...
@ChinmaySarupria i have supported multiple paths like bhakti , yoga, tantra etc
@Seeker yes its not needed to have omniscience

Yes.
That's why I doesn't blindly accept even self realized master. :pЁЯША

@RakeshJoshi It will still lead to the same thing you are saying - person of Bhakti Yoga will say his particular deity is supreme and the other is wrong, Yogi will say Brahman is supreme, whom to believe then?
@Seeker In Advaita, if you realize your true nature, I think that is the highest goal.

3:23 PM
bhakti is part of most of the sects

Realize true nature doesn't guarantee end of death-birth cycle. But it guarantees no more than 3 births.

@RakeshJoshi But most of them refute other paths that declare no particular deity is supreme

That I have concluded, might be wrong.

but it was you who said ramanuja and sankara all as realized ... not every person who write commentaries is realized .
for their disciples it could be that way

@Seeker Well according to advaita, you become free the very moment you realize your true nature.

3:26 PM
In Kashmiri Shaivism, there are 3 Malas, one of the mala is Karmayi, one has to eradicate Karmayi mala to end Birth-death cycle. BG aims at eradicate this mala.

@RakeshJoshi I still say both Sankara and Ramanuja were realized.

ok you may believe but i neither accept vivekananda or sankara as realized .@ChinmaySarupria

Karma mala is the limiting condition brought about by the vasanas or residual traces of actions done under the influence of desire. It is the force of these vasanas that carries the jiva from one life to another.

@Seeker But according to Advaita, once you realize your true nature, the fire of knowledge burn all of the remaining karmas, desires and everything. You shine in your divine glory.

I think only Anava mala is destroyed in Self realization.
The bondage of the individual is due to innate ignorance or anava mala. It is this primary limiting condition which reduces the universal consciousness to an anu or a limited creature.
@ChinmaySarupria Yes,good point.

3:32 PM
@ChinmaySarupria can bhakti fire too burn all the karmas ?

@RakeshJoshi Yes, Krishna confirms it in Bhagavad Gita, he says "Take shelter in me, fear not, I will free you from all sins".

I thought because Buddha had 3 teachers who were realized but none were free of Birth-death cycle. Though they were entitled to take only 3 more births.

good

@Seeker Those who become realized can then come to earth and take physical body if they wish. In our case, we come because of karma, they come to show others the path of highest abode. Sri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda will take birth again around 2082.

@TheDestroyer does vedanta accept that realized people can be born again ?

3:37 PM
@Seeker Sri Ramakrishna himself said in 1882 that he will take birth once again after 200 years.

Oh. @ChinmaySarupria. Great

@RakeshJoshi So true

@SimplyBeautifulArt simply beautiful pleasant surprise !

@ChinmaySarupria he said he will come after 200 years and you made exact calculation of 2082 .. Cant it be 220 or 250 years ? :)

3:43 PM
@RakeshJoshi I said around 2082, of course coming after 200 years doesn't mean that he will take birth exactly in 2082

then it can be 2180 as well
300 also comex after 200 na

but then he would have said "after 300 years"

Let us wait for other advaitins to give their opinion

4:01 PM
@KeshavSrinivasan btw... have you read this;
http://chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/38640?m=35245924#35245924

@Tezz Oh, it contains no content? It just consists of the invocatory mantra and the Shanti mantra?

@KeshavSrinivasan Oh I don't know where did the content went..
@KeshavSrinivasan do SE automatically removes long msg. Contents?...

@Tezz OK, now I see it. Haha, it's about atoms. Did you make that up?

@KeshavSrinivasan haha yes... I made it..
Also see what @Pandya asked just after reading it...
Feb 6 at 5:55, by Pandya
@Tezz Is it listed in 108 Upanishad in Muktika canon?

@Tezz Haha

4 hours later…
8:09 PM
@KeshavSrinivasan i have posted about vidyaranya .

8:20 PM
@RakeshJoshi Yeah, I saw that. I'm familiar with Vedanta Desikan moderating the debate. They choose him because he believed in Visistadvaita, so he thought both sides were wrong and thus he wouldn't rule based on personal opinions of who is right.

:)
there should be some logical proof whether how did sankara got connected to suka deva as they claim him in the parampara. @KeshavSrinivasan

@RakeshJoshi I think it was probably some folklore that got accepted as official doctrine.

but such things shoukld not happen @KeshavSrinivasan other vedantins should raise questions
even madhwa claims lineage from vyasa dont know how .

8:58 PM
@RakeshJoshi Madhvacharya claims that he went to Badrinath and he met Vyasa there.
@RakeshJoshi That is why Madhva people and Gaudiya Vaishnavas claim to be part of the Brahma Sampradayam.
