@tripleee While the site may not have a problem with it, spam is spam, and that's a network-wide definition.

A single site does not get to override the network-wide policy on spam.
the definition involves repeat/bulk behavior, there is no direct indication that this is the case here, the link is to a site for a company which produces Magento extensions, how could people link to them if you unilaterally declare such links to be spam?
it might still be spam but we should see some evidence to support that conclusion then

@tripleee You've completely missed it. A post is spam if its sole purpose is to advertise/promote a product or service. It's acceptable to link to a product or service, but that can't be the sole contents of the post.

Q: How should bot accounts flooding documentation with rubbish be handled?

RobOver the last couple days, the C# documentation (and I'd wager other tags) have been hit by a bot continually making topic requests. The topic requests consist of a random title (possibly a tag?) and 3 question titles found under C#. Here's an example of the recent round of requests: List ...

my guess? Networking
and i'll contact the host again on that
after I can get in heh
Yep. It's fine, motivated me to learn how cloud-init works
@Undo well, I discovered a few evils from overnight
but that's mostly because stuff just 'died off'
it looks like it started dying off around 11PM my time
where stuff just 'stops pinging'
and then it throws TypeErrors I have to fix
but then just 'freezes'
the next time it pings is a few minutes later, and then it just 'freezes'
at least it isn't connection reset by peer errors
but i bet that has something to do with it
as for restart period i'm upping the check frequency to every 30 seconds
@Undo I'm going to switch it to my ESXi cluster after rsyncing the existing data over
if the same thing happens there too, then we'll have to trace backwards in some of our changes
Aye
that invalid literal change we made, i wonder if that's hanging things up
because we know the last-ping checker seems to work well
it's forcing reboots according to syslog (I threw a tracker up to track things heh)
i'm tempted to up its threshold to 120s.
so it's not rebooting every minute

@Undo Hm? What does this do? Is it just create a new EC2 instance in your name and copy all the data?
@ArtOfCode For example, when Thomas' stuff goes down and I want to launch my own, I can go create an EC2 instance, pass this as user data, launch it. Then come back a minute later, start a screen session, put in my password and it's up.
Instead of flailing around trying to remember how to add an SSH key to GitHub, and not getting the dependencies right the first time
