Anyone know if it is possible to set the wallpaper style to "fill" programmatically? Preferably powershell but anything works.

I tried changing the HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Control Panel/Desktop/WallpaperStyle but, although the value changes the display does not.

and yes, I ran RUNDLL32.EXE user32.dll,UpdatePerUserSystemParameters after making the changes.

With an ISO - you're basically writing an image to media. With a usb key, you're either writing an image to media (dd mode) or formatting a drive with an appropriate filesystem, adding a bootloader, and simply extracting the contents of the iso file to the disk (iso mode)

The MacOS/OS X userland backwards compatibility story on the Intel architecture is basically very good. Only a couple minor issues... kinda like running old programs compiled for XP on Windows 10.

Actually in terms of openness, platform commercialization and compatibility, MacOS and Windows are very similar at this point in time. Mac App Store == Windows Store -- both are optional, you're not forced to install software from them.

You can still load your custom kernel modules but they have to be signed for security purposes (again, a similarity between Mac and Windows).

Both have a "Crown Jewels" set of low-level, userland APIs that have always been proprietary; on Mac it's the many "Kit" APIs, Cocoa and Carbon, etc. and on Windows it's the Win32 API; both have higher-level open source languages built on top of that (.NET > Swift, but eh, both are fundamentally open)

'course the Mac kernel is open source and the Windows kernel isn't, but Windows probably puts out more open source software in the .NET ecosystem than Apple's work on WebKit + LLVM + XNU

I like acronis, but i use it simply, when you get into the live backup stuff and incrementals and all , it can get more complex and people have more trouble with it

I use 2 backup methods. Imaging and cloning with acronis for the OS partition only. and normal file routines syncs and compares for Data disks, my data partitions and disks, do not have the issues of an OS to boot to and multitudes of locked and hard linked files
