@Lynn Which answer/comment?
@Lynn Hahahaha, I saw :p
oneboxes dont work ;_;

I'm using unicode gear from melno font
I like this!
19:01
^^ swag⁸
@TùxCräftîñg They do when the link works. That one doesn't work when I follow it - maybe the comment was deleted
^ samething but different font
@Downgoat Which matches the font on Tio!, I think. Maybe the gear should be a tad smaller, i.e., the same size the o would be.
Oh, speaking of TIO design: it would be nice if the TIO pages were very subtly coloured by language
@Dennis question: do you like the font of this one or this one?
19:06
I’ve typed code into the wrong interpreter once or twice, cause they all look alike…
and include links to GH/Esowiki
@Downgoat I like it, but I think the gear-o is a bit overkill
Yeah, I still want to see a version that just skips the gear
@Downgoat The one that looks more like Tio!'s Droid Sans. I'd have to compare them when I'm at a computer.
^ without gear in two different fonts
19:11
Why not use… Droid Sans (non-Monospaced)?
@Lynn i don't have droid sans will download rn
@Downgoat I'll steal the logo and make an even more improved community advert! >:D
@Downgoat :)
@zyabin101 ಠ_ಠ
I just need to get rid of the other one >:D
19:13
droid sans feels either too thin (regular) or too thick (bold) but that's just me
@Downgoat I just wanted to say, something in between would be nice=)
@flawr there is no medium >_>
@Downgoat Make it yourself, I'm sure it is a vectorized font?
oh nvm
he use a strange thing anyway
19:15
@flawr :| idk anything about fonts. I'll just look for similra fonts
Making font weights is hard.
@Downgoat Something that is botering me right now, is the size of the arrows, couldn't you make all of the same width?
Oooh I am liking these TIO logo designs.
You could, like, take the thinner one and thicken it a little bit. Which is what your computer does anyway, if it doesn’t have a bold font. But it might look awful.
@Adnan What was your five-byte solution, actually?
19:18
To the non-palindrome-y thing
I don’t know a lick of 05AB1E. :D
"a lick"
@Lynn It was µNÂʽ.
@flawr It's an idiom. She's saying that she knows nothing about it.
I don't know what the origin is, though.
@El'endiaStarman I guessed so, but it is just hillarious.
Whoops, sorry.
19:21
I really thought I made a difficult one
@Lynn it has a he in it=)
But then I realized the challenge
:(
@Lynn I normally use "they" unless I know the person's gender, but I just forgot both here. :P
so in kannada a lenny face is inverted ಠ_ಠ
Downgoat, this time, you win. But let's see who wins the glory in the Community Ads, next year! >:)
19:22
Anyone have a catchy title for this challenge?
(It is about "rounding" gaussian integers to eisenstein integers)
@zyabin101 ._.
@flawr Gausstein XD
I feel like Gauss to Eisenstein works well.
So searchable! Think about the searchability.
19:24
I thought about Gausseisen (Gusseisen = cast iron)
Eisenstein is such a badass name.
> Graph rewriting is a computational process in which graphs are rewritten.
<insert mighty smiley here>
@TùxCräftîñg Haven't these been banned under the chat constitution thingy?

Q: Gauss to Eisenstein

flawrGiven a Gaussian number A+B*i where A,B are integers and i = exp(2*pi*i/4) is the imaginary unit, return the closest (w.r.t to the Euclidean distance) Eisenstein integer K+L*ω where K,L are integers and ω = exp(2*pi*i/3) = 1/2(-1+i√3). Background It is probably quite obvious that every Gaussian...

@Downgoat That looks nice! :) Would it be possible to invert the fb/bg colors to put it in the website itself?
@Dennis yeah, sure. lemme try
19:30
Hello

@Dennis ^ there's it with inverted colors. I'm using f0f0f0 for text, and 404040 for background
Nice! :)

@MitchSchwartz Nice solution!
19:34
@Dennis svg link: imgh.us/tio_1.svg
Font is borken.
@Dennis oh :/ lemme reexport then with outlined font
@Downgoat You could also just make it a vector-ish object.
Are you using inkscape?
no illustrator
Ah ok, don't listen to me then=)
19:36
Greetings
@Dennis this link should work: imgh.us/tio_2.svg
It does indeed. :)
Could you svg me the one with inverted colors as well? With transparent bg, if possible.
@Adnan are there bonus points for getting ~50% of the secret source code's length? ;)
19:39
GIMP converts it to something else, so there's no easy way to change colors.
@Dennis sure
@Dennis Use Inkscape=)
Oh cool, it's in my repos.
Nevermind, I can use nano. :P
Forgot how readable SVG is.
@flawr > You don't have to worry about floating point issues as long as
was that sentence supposed to have an end?
A sentence with a rounding error :)
19:46
:D
@ASCII-only pls halp, cheddar is borked, it is jumping whitespace even when they are no jumpWhites.
@Dennis can you update cheddar and then replace cheddar wrapper with?:
#!/usr/bin/env node

// Enable Cheddar safe mode
global.SAFE_MODE = true;

var cheddar = require('cheddar-lang');
var api = cheddar.stdlib;

// Print function
var printed = false;

function print(text) {
    printed = true;
    process.stdout.write(text);
}

// Get the default return
var res = cheddar(process.argv[2], {
    PRINT: print
});

// Check if function was returned
if (res instanceof api.func) {
    var args = process.argv.slice(3).map(function(arg) {
        // Convert it to a Cheddar string

20:03
gist pls :(
@MartinEnder Wow, that's very neat!
I also tried it but I gave up after a minute
nice job :)
my graphics card died D...:
@MartinEnder Oh
@Downgoat Would it be possible to include the wrapper in the repo? That way, I'd only have to update once and you wouldn't need to post it in chat.
@Downgoat Done and done.

Is today a good day to learn 05AB1E. Or is it a good one to lazy around
I was watching soccer on the Olympics and wondering if it will someday be played in virtual reality on a toroidal field, with no out of bounds. That would be cool but confusing.

20:13
@Dennis hm, okay, will do in nxet update

ven
I guess the fact I'm asking myself that around 10pm is an answer in itself
@Dennis thanks!
@HelkaHomba Soccer with Portals!!!
@ven i think the auto avatar changing you have is pretty cool.
@flawr please we need this
@Downgoat i need edit access to cheddar.github.io pls
y ok
@himarmjr done
20:23
@ven 05AB1E isn't actually that difficult
jelly is far harder
can someone give me example BF program?
If you know how loops work, you're basically ready to go
but osabie need a tutorial
@Downgoat thanks.
@Downgoat +.
20:24
what does that do?
I use ,[>,]<[.<] as an example whenever I need one
@TùxCräftîñg Yeah, I should really do that
I'm trying to write BF interpreter in cheddar
I'm back to easterly now.
@flawr I have a newfound urge to read through valve's Portal SDK
20:28
@BaldBantha I heard about Garry's Mod where you probably can already do taht.
@Downgoat I tried that, but when I did cheddar was borked pretty bad
try neoscript
it's less borked
@flawr Why "garry" though?
Why not Gaben's Mod?
Perhaps this guy's name is Garry?
true
but i still like gaben's mod better
20:29
@ConorO'Brien i am trying to unbork it but for some reason the block pattern has weird backtracking
implicit newlines are such a pain
yup, that was the problem I had last time
I'm going to have to write a one-liner >_<
this.Index < currentUser
i have no idea what i was thinking when I wrote this line
\o/ fixed it
TypeError: Cannot assign to read only property 'Reference' of 44
wat
Javascript has TYpe errors?!

20:33
@Downgoat where is the code highlighting for the cheddar website?
in the spectral template or in a file?
@Dennis wow nested range, that's a clever way to get the same values for the multi-level factorial
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ i thought i already fiexd that bug :/
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ add no-highlight to elem code
20:36
@ven I'm telling you, V goes better with the name. :P
Plus it (sometimes) beats 05AB1E.
@Downgoat okay thanks
(Not often though)
@DJMcMayhem 05AB1E can add numbers :p
@miles :)
20:40
@feersum of course?
@Adnan So can V
Runtime Error: Cannot iterate over String
wat y cheddar
Hmm, okay fair enough
@Downgoat .charAt()?
20:41
@flawr huh?
orly?
@Downgoat Uh I thought you were talking about JS?
oh no i was talking aobut cheddar
@Downgoat makes so many typos.
20:42
It's sorta funny and sorta sad.

Jul 14 at 23:20, by Downgoat
otherwise ill have to go with PCRE for chedr
things like that
@DJMcMayhem It's good at ASCII challenges though
@DJMcMayhem lol
how does that code work again?
with a start of heading
20:46
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ diw == delete in the first 'word'. This yanks it into a register. Then @" means "register number of times" and <C-a> after that (which is unprintable) is "increment"
The "|x" after that is just to make it look nicer.
ven
ven
Correct :D
@Adnan i'm sure it's not that difficult :)
@DJMcMayhem i thought V has addition/arithematic built-ins
@Downgoat It will. I make progress really slowly.
how long have you been wokring on V?
Actually, the real reason the math operators have taken so long is that I'm not sure if I want to do them in python or in vimscript.
20:49
@DJMcMayhem oic
@DJMcMayhem do it in vimscript
I knew you would say that.
brb rewriting V in node
@Downgoat o_O
Wow. OK then
@Downgoat Actually, I just hit 6 months.
But that includes a rewrite.
@DJMcMayhem that is same time as Cheddar .____.
20:54
That sounds about right.
then again i have no life, and work on Cheddar 100% of my free time.
What's "free time"?
Time you spend on PPCG or V.
its the thing where in which most goats just eat tin cans but i make cheese
(I'm guessing.)
20:56
Pshh, as if code golf is a leisurely activity instead of a crippling addiction.
15
painstakingly true
@Downgoat If you do, make sure you operate all of your custom operator logic in JS. I have basically done this, I can guarantee it is a fulfilling activity, that it no way makes you want to pull out all of your hair.
> "per day" -- "A week"
three days/day
20:59

@DJMcMayhem i relize
@Downgoat 14-16 hrs. I wish I was joking.

how does that even work ._.
because spacetime distorsion
with the emacs command C-x M-c M-spacetime C-d
@Dennis Per day?
21:04
@Dennis really? How do you have enough time to do that and work and sleep?
@Lynn Lately, yes.
Whoa. :D
what's up with the monthly rep leaderboard? codegolf.stackexchange.com/…
21:09
@DJMcMayhem Not working per se at the moment. And I usually go to bed at 3 AM or so.
Todo: Figure out a way of converting PPCG rep to real money.

@Downgoat so what? That's what I voted.
Actually, I think I underestimated.

If anyone sorts out how to golf (code) for a living, please ping me in chat. Asking for a friend... — Martin Ender ♦ Feb 8 at 16:33
21:16
I probably spend 2-3 hours directly related to ppcg on my computer, and an additional 2-3 passively participating, on my phone (like now)
@MartinEnder it appears to have not reset this month for some users
Can I get ppcg/TNB wired directly in to my brain?
Challenges, chat, moderating, TIO, implementing various recreational prohramming languages... It all adds up. If I only could get paid for any one of them...
Preferably via the proposed rep/money exchange. :P
We should form a code golfers' union. We'll use our bargaining power to force Stack Exchange to pay us by threatening to post poorly golfed avswers.
11
AH! FINALLY. The complete TNB transcript has been parsed!
21:30
The closest thing to “code golf for a living” is, like, writing games for 8-bit microprocessors decades ago
@feersum or a barrage of boring/HNQ bait code trolling level quality challenges. That's a more scary/realistic threat.
That must of taken a while .___. How big is it?
Or maybe writing very performance-critical code! But, gosh, that’s all so “macroscopic”.
@Downgoat I think it took around 12 hours in total for the last two years to be parsed.
We could completely take over the HNQ completely by planning them all for the same day.
21:31
Fastest-code isn't golf though.
First three and a half years took only 10 minutes or so. :P
@El'endiaStarman Uh, what are your plans for that compilation of carrots disapproval faces, guacamole ingredients and other pseudo-random nonsense?
@Downgoat 886957 messages so far.
@Dennis There are 5035 messages that are solely composed of some number of carets.
That's it??
huh thought they'd be more
@Downgoat 17114 messages with at least one ^ somewhere.
I think that would include carets appearing in code, though.
Oh whoops, I need to escape the HTML that gets returned in some messages.
21:46
@El'endiaStarman ಠ_ಠ

@El'endiaStarman Do you also have the number of stars in the database?
@flawr The number of stars each message has? Yes.
@El'endiaStarman should probably account for repeated _
and there were also the ones with white pupils
First person to answer correctly gets 4 Imaginary Internet Points™: What is Randall Munroe best known for producing?
21:54
@MartinEnder 5047 for that. Not too much of a difference.
@LegionMammal978 Uhhhhh xkcd?
@LegionMammal978 The hotness score on reddit
That should not be a hard question at all.

@El'endiaStarman Oh hey, you finished that
That's pretty nice
Outgolfed by a user's second ever PPCG answer, in my own language. So much for that meme.

@TùxCräftîñg BUZZZZZZZZ Incorrect.
@El'endiaStarman Are audit messages included?
@Dennis Nice try, but memes never die.
21:58
@quartata Audit messages meaning...?
@El'endiaStarman ヽ(。_°)ノ ¯( ͡° ͜_ʖ ಠ)/¯ my favourite

@quartata Yes. If you can get a permalink to the message, it's included. (Excepting the very most recent, of course.)
@El'endiaStarman is each message associated with a userid (so that stats can be gathered per user even across username changes)?
