@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Is someone who plays NetHack on the NAO server?
I'm just interested in viewing their games. :P
?
I don't use NAO. Only dank.ninja/ascension.run
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Is someone who plays NetHack available on nethack.alt.org?
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ :(
oh junethack starts tomorrow?
@zyabin101 you can watch on ascension.run also?
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Good.
What is your username?
(on ascension.run)
15:05
Danke.
@zyabin101 do you even play nethack?
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ I tried it.
Dot dot dot?
15:07
ellipsis, but without unicodeness
basically saying you disapprove
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ I disapprove mainly with a special face for that ಠ_ಠ
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ where is ur house
ill get on soon u should too
I was on like 5 minutes ago.
:(((((( < me with 5 chins attached
15:11
nahh
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Nope. Not PvP. I think it counts as griefing.
just get on and hang out
@zyabin101 You don't even get on. Please let him answer.
@BaldBantha but I WANNA DESTROY YOU
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Ikr.
I still don't have a Minecraft account :(
whoops
> I still don - zyabin101
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ I would help but my wireless mouse dongle is lost so I have to try using a multitouch pad and its ghard
15:17
:(
@BaldBantha ded
The brain is weird.
@BaldBantha no, it's safe to come back now
the ghast is ded
@BaldBantha?
hey, what does this mean in a spreadsheet? =D12*$B$18%
@BaldBantha Just Another Saddle?
15:23
just a sec
So, who wants to go rock climbing?
@aditsu the value of d12 * 18% of the sum of B?
@Geobits I do!
15:25
Ok. I've never done it before, so I'll probably die. Please be prepared for that.
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ I don't think it's a sum
@mınxomaτ GitHub really does this? :O
I found something..
@Geobits I do. Its really fun
@Geobits just don't double unclip
15:26
@aditsu B is the sum of all B iirc.
@Geobits have fun!
apparently the calculation is simply D12 * B18 %
the dollars are for keeping the reference fixed
@Geobits I've mostly done only bouldering, which is where you climb without a rope and with plenty of padding beneath you.
(if I understand correctly)
I've done both, and fell of a small cliff. That is why the harness needs to not fit too tight around the crotch. :/
15:27
@mınxomaτ Was that real, or was that just inspect element?
Because it would be amazing if it were real
not on his account, but maybe real
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ I'll bet it's his work account or something like that.
I think my main problem is that I'm in Florida. It's not a place known for its impressive rock formations.
@El'endiaStarman maybe
@Geobits CA has lots of gyms and formations.
My account is my work account. I have a paid plan.
15:29
You should move here.
@BaldBantha let me know when you get on, I angered the piggies.
They should be fine when I come back though.
@Geobits There should be plenty of rock-climbing gyms around, which I prefer (and I've only ever climbed there anyway).
@mınxomaτ I'm guessing this is your shower? imgur.com/8PfVsIg
2
@El'endiaStarman Probably... it just doesn't seem like it would be the same without the prospect of instant death by falling off a cliff.
It isn't.
Natural rock ones are more fun, but harder on your hands.
Like scrapes and stuff.
I personally prefer the mental challenges, so gyms are perfect for me.
@El'endiaStarman Just saw that, and now I'm only slightly disturbed...
But anyway, you'll definitely get scared by hanging from the ceiling with your back parallel to the floor, 8 feet up, so if you want the fear factor...
^
@BaldBantha are you coming back?
@Sp3000 That is one weird shower head.
15:53
wb @RenderSettings!
wait martin got married
@orlp You won't believe it, but yes.
I feel older every day
After Martin changed name, Tony the Pony imploded the room.
I even have friends that are married now >.<
guys I have to order food
what do I eat
16:05
@orlp avocad
what about roti?
what about it?
yeah, what about it?
yeah, yeah, what about it?
@orlp You would buy avocad to juic, yeah?
16:09
not juic
You would buy avocad to eat, yeah?
avocad with lemon and soy sauce and pepper and salt
3
hmmmmmm
>_<
@_@
and then some raw salmon with it
16:11
@BaldBantha bye! I had to go also.
and then afterwards a bit of bread with mozzarella and tomato and basil and olive oil and salt and pepper and rucola
and then a steak with raw onion diced with gratin mash potatoes and green peas with lots of meat juice cooked with some wine and fresh ground pepper
and then some nice sashimi sushi followed by green tea ice cream as dessert
@orlp how old are you?
21?
@orlp seems to be a avocad connoisseur...
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ 21 olds yes
my god
I couldn't care less about fancy cars or big houses or prostitutes or whatever
but I love good food
if I were rich I'd spend so much money on food...
16:17
Being an adult is fun. You get to care about stuff like getting your car emissions tested.
Even more fun is moving to a state where they don't do emissions testing.
Wait, it's a state thing? Which states don't do that?
In the United States, vehicle safety inspection and emissions inspection are governed by each state individually. 17 states have a periodic (annual or biennial) safety inspection program, while Maryland and Alabama require a safety inspection on sale or transfer of vehicles which were previously registered in another state. New Jersey discontinued its passenger vehicle safety inspection program on August 1, 2010. In 1977, the federal Clean Air Act was amended by Congress to require states to implement vehicle emissions inspection programs, known as I/M programs (for Inspection and Maintenance)...
In the United States, emissions standards are managed on a national level by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). State and local governments may apply for waivers to enact stricter regulations. == Motor vehicles == Due to its preexisting standards and particularly severe motor vehicle air pollution problems in the Los Angeles metropolitan area, the U.S. state of California has special dispensation from the federal government to promulgate its own automobile emissions standards. Other states may choose to follow either the national standard or the stricter California standards. Stat...
@DrGreenEggsandHamDJ yeah being an adult is fun you get to worry about functioning in society with autism =/
16:21
@orlp I didn't know you have autism.
@TimmyD thanks, but I don't feel like moving to Alabama, haha. -_-
Hi~
@DrGreenEggsandHamDJ Plenty of other places don't.
Like Minnesota, which is awesome and does all things.
@DrGreenEggsandHamDJ many people don't
I'm generally pretty normal, except that all social contact tires me out immensely
@TimmyD well, thankfully Colorado only requires it every seven years.
Now it's future me's problem.
Future me gets so much crap from present and past mes...

16:31
So, I reset the save file from December 2015 and now playing again on NAO.
I'll say when I play.
16:42
@Lynn Hi~
NetHack?
Urbit?
>_>
hmm a good ginger beer
Also, my NAO defaults.nh says my fruit name is "avocad" c:

Q: Format specifier in Python

CoderWhy is the output of following code -9 not 9 ? The code is : print ("%u" %-9) According to my knowledge %u is format specifier for unsigned integers so why does -9 get printed instead of 9 ?

@zyabin101 why the fuck do you mention nethack so much if you don't even play it
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ ಠ_ಠ
16:55
It's really annoying to have nethack mentioned so much, but you just want to talk about it.
I do play nethack and don't constantly mention it.
17:33
> ad aeraぁiur
Darn, just gave up of a cursed orcish dagger. Lesson learned: never trust goblins.
Argh, wrong dungeon. Can't find the stairs down right away.
Finally finished with the graphics game on the PC.
Time to do the TTY game, harder. :P
Bang, got a neutral female human Barbarian.
And a kitty.
Wrong dungeon.
Got a lawful female human Samurai.
Broken game.
Neutral gnomish Cavewoman.
17:55
@Zgarb ah damn, got a bit too golfy at the end, let me dig up my previous version...
Lawful female human Knight.
Bad I'm Andrew, not Arthur.
cool i can publicly vote on questions now
18:14
@El'endiaStarman pretty interesting video
223 thousand contributions left. o_o
@orlp Holy smokes, so I'm not the only one who consumes avocados with soy sauce
I swear, I haven't seen anyone else do it and I always felt weird for doing it
But just a little bit is really good for some weird reason
I can't seem to find any good articles on best practice for integrating a new software design process in the middle of a product's lifecycle.
the word integrate turns up a bunch of unrelated articles
@Rainbolt what are you trying to do exactly?
"integrating a new software design process in the middle of a product's lifecycle" seems a bit vague and buzzwordy for me
18:31
Sorry, I have a meeting to go to. Oh well. I'm about to find out the hard way how technical debt gets in the way of good design
I'll expand later (if I remember)
If I had to guess you're switching from a classic waterfall methodology to something else like agile or iterative, etc. If this is the case it's important to identify who your clients are as this change is likely to impact your timeline
Additionally a change to something like agile is something you will want to include your clients in as agile methodologies generally have increased client interactions
I may way off the mark here, though
I realize that my sentence is only half coherent. I hope you get the idea of what I'm saying. Typing is hard.
The buzzword is strong with this one.
You may also be talking about refactoring bad design
in which case "refactor" is a better search term than "integrate"
@Geobits while my response may have been equally buzzwordy my hope is that is was more specific to his issue
lol, probably. You should try to see how many of them you can cram into one sentence while still being relevant and helpful. We'll call it .
@DrGr Should I pull V?
18:44
^ I read that as durrgurr at first :/
@Geobits seeing as I majored in software engineering I can probably find one of my old requirements documents and buzzword all over the place
Dr. Gre
Dr Dre's elder brother
2
@Optimizer if that was one message i'd star it
@Poke If it's coming from a req's document, just make sure it actually is helpful and relevant. Many of the ones I've seen are not :(
18:47
Wait, I'm the wrong answerer. Sorry @Dennis, you heard nothing >_>
yeah... i don't really want to go back and look at all of that stuff, haha. Some of it is a bit cringeworthy
I'm waiting on a spec from a place now, and I just know it's going to be terrible. Defense contractor :/
you can always hope
I know a few people there, but from a different department, so there's no telling. If it's anything like what we got in the military though, it's going to be really bad lol.
is it a full spec for your project or just for a vertical slice
18:50
It's full, but only for a tiny project having nothing to do with their product. Just an internal tracking thing.
tiny project
good luck
It's something they really should just find commercially, but if they want to pay me for doing it, I'll oblige.
beware the feature creep and superfluous goldplating
synergy, buzzword1, buzzword2
This one in particular doesn't have me too worried about bloat.
18:52
The city govt here was pretty terrible about that when I did something for them though :/
What's the balance when your conflict is terse vs. verbose Exception messages via a central logging platform?
o_o Martin got married. @MartinEnder congrats!
Ideally you want to be able to group and sort by occurrences of errors/warnings but at the same time it's nice to have reproduction information
Yes, Github finally has a bio feature.
I've seen places that kept two logs. One for a quick skim/search, and then a detailed one. I could never figure out if I liked it or not.
18:56
@mınxomaτ Just saw that
I won't use that feature. >_>
I wonder why they didn't have it until now...
@zyabin101 ?
@quartata I'm not going to use the bio feature. >_>
I'd like more customizability on the profile page.
@Geobits That's not too terrible I guess... The problem is how to propagate the problems from layers deep in the code to the central logging platform. In Java, for example, your Exception class likely has an associated message but no other context.
18:57
@zyabin101 Why the shifty eyes? :P
@quartata idk -._(._.)_.-
If you have a data access object throwing an exception, you need to go through some business logic layer and eventually up to a servlet layer (if you're dealing with web things) before you log
In this case you're likely logging via the servlet layer
@mınxomaτ I can't think of any features I'd like it to have but right now to me it feels a little visually cluttered
@Maltysen I did, thanks :)
