11:02 PM
look at the source

@orlp Whoa, gnarly.
Still, not sure why you're pinging me about it, given I don't work at the company any more and can't fix it. :-P

@ChrisJester-Young oh wasn't aware of that

@ChrisJester-Young oh, what happened?

He left to start his own programming education startup

11:11 PM
really? cool

Another fun one: Type * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * a and the Markdown editor hangs (at least for me).
Too bad I don't have 10 rep to post it as an answer.

@aditsu Here's my mission: wslk.io/jLKsW If it floats your boat, lemme know and I'll keep you up to date on it! :-)
I am in the process of starting a Slack instance for people who are interested, to share ideas and test stuff out. :-)

@ChrisJester-Young it disappeared while I was reading it >_<

@aditsu Some people have had luck opening it in an incognito window.
But yeah, the regwall is really annoying.
I need to harass them about it again, I think.

And wiselike just made my JavaScript block list.

11:20 PM
@Dennis Cool! Does that turn off the regwall?

Hey, I just got a notification that a comment is offensive.

@ChrisJester-Young After you delete the site's cookies, yes.

I hit valid, but now I want to see if I really said that. Is there anyway to do that?
Cause I don't remember commenting that.

it was probably somebody else's comment

Then why did I get notified of it?

11:21 PM
and valid = offensive

Yeah, I agreed that it was offensive.

because you have enough reputation to participate in that

I thought only mods see chat flags.

Blue spam/offensive flags are visible to 10k+ and mods
Orange mod-only flags are only visible to mods
Also why did you mark that as valid it wasn't

10K network?

11:23 PM
Yep

Oh.
I've never seen a chat flag before so I didn't know what to do.
Was that not valid? Is there a policy on language in chat?

@ChrisJester-Young That website is terrible. Even after signing in, I get annoyed with constant chat and reminder popups.

@DJMcMayhem There isn't

@mınxomaτ Thanks for the feedback. I'll pass that on to Wiselike. :-)

So you're saying swearing is fucking cool?

11:25 PM
@DJMcMayhem Within the constraints of our Be Nice policy, yes.

did I miss flags, oh, what a shame

90% of the time, when I click on blue flags, they're already gone

Yeah, because the chat flag system is utterly broken

yes

What up golfers

11:27 PM
@ChrisJester-Young Now the settings dialog is stuck over every page I navigate to. It doesn't have a close button and clicking out of focus doesn't close it either :D

So apparently I just recently broke 10K. Yay! That makes me really happy!

@mınxomaτ Wow. Uh, um. Lemme let them know about that too. :-)

I'm at a humble 806

@ChrisJester-Young just ask them to shut it down :p

@LockOpeners wat^glfrz saved 6 bytes
@DJMcMayhem Congrats! :D

11:28 PM
@aditsu wow rood

@aditsu :-O

@Doorknob hm?
oops replied to the wrong message

@LockOpeners I golfed down your message. :P

lol

Glf=DEAL
(golf is a big deal)

11:29 PM
So for the primaries
should I vote only 1 person
or 4 people

@LockOpeners As many as you have an opinion about.

Alright

Vote up people you think would be good mods, vote down people you think would be bad mods, don't vote if you don't care or don't really have an opinion.

Alright

FWIW I voted 7 times.

11:31 PM
I voted up 4 people, no vote downs cause I don't really have any negative opinions about any of the candidates

as long as you vote for the right people, it's fine ^___^

lol

@ChrisJester-Young Is there a place where one can follow your cause (like a website or twitter doodad)?
Voting is broken on the majority of SE.

@QPaysTaxes PPCG doles out more rep than most sites.
That's one of the things I like about this site. The average good challenge easily hits 20.
That's actually probably what got me hooked on this site to begin with.

@mınxomaτ I should set up a one-page website, for people to sign up. Lemme get back to you on that. I also have a Slack instance that I'm inviting people to soon.

11:35 PM
@ChrisJester-Young Keep me updated (squarecode@web.de) ;)

get people to put their email into a google forms page
much easier
wat, the aim isn't to phish people

@ChrisJester-Young What language(s) are you using?

xkcd.com/792 <that'sabigonebox>

> that's one big box

@QPaysTaxes ... I knew that >_<

11:39 PM
@QPaysTaxes he was oneboxing it, but the image is massive

@mınxomaτ Thanks, I'll add you. :-)

> It'll be hilarious the first few times this happens.
the hover text wow

@El'endiaStarman What, for my product? Mostly ClojureScript, at this stage.

@QPaysTaxes That was sarcasm :P I just didn't see your link.

@Doorknob lol

11:41 PM
Non golfy? I don't understand, what does that mean?

@ChrisJester-Young I'm probably most useful for infrastructural resources and industry contacts.

I thought all code was golfy.

lol

@mınxomaτ Much appreciated! :-)

Well that sounds boring.
:P

11:42 PM
But if your code is hard to read that's just job security right there

Oh cool! What's the language for/do?

@DJMcMayhem The sad part is that for some of you, this is real. I've seen your repos, I've seen the horrors.

@Quill Where?

@Quill Are you referring to me? I don't think my repos are that bad...

11:43 PM
@LockOpeners "Oh this legacy code is unreadable. Well, let's trash it and outsource to India" >:)

If you haven't read the guide I linked you should
because it's great
it's old, but great

@aditsu @mınxomaτ @Dennis I just pinged the Wiselike CEO about it and he tells me they're going to disable the regwall for good soon. Just so you know.

@DJMcMayhem no, not you specifically, ppcg users

@ChrisJester-Young Yay.

@QPaysTaxes check out the pdf
pretty good info
;p

11:44 PM
@ChrisJester-Young \o/

/me shrug

@MarsUltor ^^

no actions
I wish the flood protection here would just queue up my message instead of telling me to retry in x seconds

11:46 PM
@Quill Ha, you're complaining about regex? [scrolls sideways] ...oh my.

[l]? <- why D:

@QPaysTaxes ro da poi cusku ke'a bau la lojban cu simlu lo ka cizra

@Quill that line is beautiful, it parses almost every answer header in just one line :^)

@El'endiaStarman If a codebase I'm working on requires regex, I take a long hard look at my identity and wonder whether it's really worth using regex

I haven't done lojban in a while

11:47 PM
@MarsUltor just in case I ever need to add more things to that

@QPaysTaxes roughly: Everything said in Lojban sounds cryptic.

so I'll assume the same

22 hours ago, by Downgoat
regex is bad though

@Quill Yes it is, it's almost always faster.
@Quill Except for using it for things it shouldn't be used for

@QPaysTaxes Apparently ANTLR isn't too bad, but I wouldn't know. The regulars here would, most of them have written a few languages

11:48 PM
@Quill s/RL/LR/

@QPaysTaxes What are you doing with such long variable names? :P

@MarsUltor s/for things it shouldn't be used for/at all/

@Downgoat But you can make the entire userscript one line

@QPaysTaxes Welcome to Programming Puzzles and Code Golf! This website is tagged so you need to make your code as short as possible, you can start by removing all that horrible whitespace and making all variable named 1-char long.

> never head

11:50 PM
@MarsUltor true

@QPaysTaxes @Doorknob and I have that on a tshirt :D

@QPaysTaxes I have a shirt with that on it :D

brb golfing...

@Quill ninja'd

@Downgoat Unless you need more than 26.

11:51 PM
the emoticon and everything
perfect ninja

@Quill not perfect

@Downgoat Make a branch that has been run through Closure

@MarsUltor JavaScript has unicode property names and I bet a lot of other languages do

Use that as the release version

@Doorknob Cxio en esperanto sonas bela

11:51 PM
@Downgoat var onecharlong

oh oops
lost connection there
a bit out of context but that's okay

@Downgoat But then 2/3 ASCII letters = 1 unicode letter

@LockOpeners mi na'e spero jimpe

@QPaysTaxes Everything in esperanto sounds beautiful

but I haven't done any for a couple years
so most is lost

A: Choose your own swag - the craziest contest idea ever! What were we thinking?

DowngoatA Tale of Swag and a Goat1 1. I'm not actually a Goat, I'm a regular programmer. I just pretend to be a goat for fun, it's an inside joke, that I don't know where it started. It was been my dream, to win some SE swag, since I first started participating on SE. Once upon a time, there was a you...

@LockOpeners .uinai ma krinu

@Doorknob Here's a vim riddle for you.

I just remember a few brivla
that's it

i<user inputs a string><esc>0f)%%

11:53 PM
@Doorknob [unhappiness!] what is-a-justification?

Is the cursor guaranteed to stay in the same position?

What string messes it up?

@MyHamDJ hmmm...

@Doorknob Me too, but not from a haiku contest. :-P

11:54 PM
ninja ninja ninja

@Downgoat Damnit I knew you weren't a true goat

Back around the 3rd anniversary of SO, you could get that tshirt if you were in the top 3 pages of the leaderboard.

@MarsUltor I could be lying ¬_¬

Which I was, even though I'm now on more like page 6 today.

Page 75 master race

11:54 PM
I've always wanted to try to learn even a little bit of Ithkuil
it's like human language golf

@LockOpeners +10

@LockOpeners Isn't that the one that not even the creator really knows? :P

But not even the creator knows it fluently

(is it's alphabet unicode?)

@MyHamDJ a[b]c

11:55 PM
nah

@quartata did you withdraw?

but it does have a lot of diacritics

@aditsu he did

iirc

oh, so that means all candidates get selected?

11:56 PM
I'm working on a conlang right now actually. The alphabet's just pqȷgaeıyou with some diacritics.
@aditsu yeah, making the primaries extra pointless
hahaha

Ithkuil has 45 consonants and 13 vowels

wow

phonetically

@Doorknob Dang it. That's right, but not the answer I wanted. I'm gonna rewrite the riddle to make it harder.

@QPaysTaxes hallo CR person!

11:57 PM
@QPaysTaxes nope
 m n ɲ ŋ    p̂ q̂ ȷ̂ ĝ
pbtdcɟkgʔ  ṗ̶ṗq̶̇q̇ȷ̶̇ȷ̇ġ̶ġ ȯo
fvθðçʝxɣh  p̶̃p̃q̶̃q̃ȷ̶̃ȷ̃g̶̃g̃ õo
aeiɒou     aeıyou
left: IPA, right: alphabet

@QPaysTaxes threatens auto space to tab conversion

ah

CR flees in terror

is that yours doorknob

yeah

11:57 PM
@Doorknob very zalgo

christ, first I couldn't read the code, now I can't read the chat

why so many diacritics
why not use some other letters :p

I get that conlangs are about more than what makes sense

11:58 PM
make an emojilang

but still
perhaps there is a backstory to your language
and diacritics are just what developed

@LockOpeners I dunno, I wanted to emphasize the patterns in place/manner of articulation and voicing

So is one diacritic voicing etc.
labial vs labiodental
a diacritic for every phonological feature

It's 2016. SSL is free. Why are GitHub pages still served over HTTP >:(

(Hayes 20xx)

11:59 PM
@LockOpeners nah, I'm still a complete worldbuilding noob. This language isn't associated with anything else. I've been slowly developing an idea of a world I could build (scifi-esque) and a language, map, lore, etc. to go along with it in my spare time, but it's been moving very, very slowly.
