@Rainbolt Note: my gf (well, fiancée) often needs an interpreter. Because she's deaf. :P

@Rainbolt lmfao that was so perfect

Q: I have a question in my programming class and I am lost as to how I should start it off

Aaliyah TaylorCalculate the angle between the first and second hands on a clock. You will need 2 variables - one for hours, and one for minutes

Q: Generate E-series of preferred numbers

Digital TraumaResistors and other electronic components are typically manufactured with values that conform to one of the E-series of preferred numbers. IEC 60063 defines the following E-series: E6: 10 15 22 33 47 68 E12: 10 12 15 18 22 27 33 39 47 56 68 82 E24: 10 11 12 13 15 16 ...

@ZachGates @Mego: As in "Gogh why isn't this working?!"
better?

@Mego I'd argue that Code Golf challenges aren't necessarily technical writings. As long as the spec is clear, adding the slightest attempt at humor shows that you're still following the belief that code golf should be for entertainment purposes. The point of code golf is to be technical while applying creative solutions all for the purposes of entertainment (although a side effect is learning interesting things about a language).
To be honest, though, I don't think that we'll reach an agreement on it, since it really comes down to how you view code golf as a concept.

@ZachGates Much

11:10 PM
Your interpretation is probably more technical than my view of it being used for amusement.

Anyone here play TF2 that can play right now?

Anonymous
@CoolestVeto Code golf is used for amusement. Explaining a challenge is technical.

@Mego Coming up with, then later explaining a challenge requires creative thought in the first place. You typically don't find challenges just laying around. :P

oo, look! another challenge!

Anonymous
@CoolestVeto I think you meant coming up with a challenge

Coming up with a challenge is the creative part. Explaining it to a bunch of pedantic programmers is the technical (and painful) part.

Q: Programming PHP challenge

Aaliyah TaylorI need to make a program of how to calculate the angle between the first and second hands on a clock. I need 2 variables - one for hours, and one for minutes

Oh wow the banner actually shows what people voted for now

Second-best update of the year

@Mego I still believe that there is a creative side to challenge writing. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Neither one of us are going to change our stance, and I'm writing the esolangs page for Vitsy halfway through this, so I'm just gonna call it quits. xD

@CoolestVeto i agree with the creativity part. it's probably the main reason why i've only ever made one challenge
and honestly idk if people will like it anyways..

11:34 PM
@CoolestVeto It seems to be the same formula you are using, if I understand your code correctly

Yes, that's correct. ;P I can't read MATL though.

Q: Help develop Alphys' newest puzzle!

crayzeedudeAlphys, the Underground's Royal Scientist, has finished a prototype for a new puzzle. However, she can't seem to find anyone willing to test it. The rules of her puzzle are as follows: The goal is to get to the right side, starting from the centermost tile on the left side. For puzzles with ev...

@CoolestVeto I can't read Vitsy either, but you mention "semiperimeter" in the comments, and have 2/ (like I have) :-)

:P Yup. There are some fancy things going on with stack stacks, but that's not important.

My goal on this site is to learn to make readable to myself (somewhat) every language used. My only problems have been Jelly and PHP.

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ One does not simply read PHP. PHP reads you.

._.

@Mego D: that sounds too intimate for PHP

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ There's too many jokes I want to make right now that would get flagged

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ you have mastered Malbolge, I trust? ;-)

Did you lose an eyebrow to a barbecue?

So instead I'm just going to mention two totally irrelevant and unconnected things: yesterday was International Women's Day, and Deadpool was a great movie.

@DigitalTrauma Somewhat :P
@AlexA. Yes.

@Mego Hooray for ladies and I've heard polarized reviews of Deadpool.

@AlexA. Deadpool was a great action movie with a romance/revenge plot that didn't feel forced

Anonymous
It may not be a great film in the artistic sense, but it's thoroughly enjoyable

When the opening credits scene has people in stitches, you're in for a good ride

I haven't watched a movie at a movie theater in almost 10 years

@AquaTart How come?

I watched Deadpool at the Alamo Drafthouse. Booze + good food + hilarious movie = good time, 10/10 would do again, 11/10 with rice

@AlexA. I just don't like them. I'd rather watch a movie at home (if at all)

@AquaTart Okay

The concessions are better at home too

The Alamo is great. If you're talking or on your phone during the movie and somebody complains, they kick you out, no refund. If you call and complain about it, they play the recording before movies so that people can laugh at you.

@crayzeedude Malbolge quine

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ i change my mind i didnt want to know :p

@Mego I watched Seven Samurai at a really neat place called Central Cinemas that has food and drinks. After two hours the screen went black and I was like, "Well that was an odd way to end the movie. Nothing was resolved." Then the screen said INTERMISSION. Turns out there was another two hours left.

i kid i kid

@AlexA. Oh god a 4 hour movie?

11:54 PM
Yeah. It was really good though.

Anonymous
My butt hurts just from thinking about sitting in a theater that long

It's a pretty slow movie though. It's from the 1950s and is entirely in Japanese.

Anonymous
@AquaTart They play that before every R-rated showing now. They play a censored version before PG-13 showings.

@Mego beautiful
LOL, they did a different version for The Force Awakens:
