2:00 AM
Minimum 3 langs :/

@AlexA. You're trying to make him revive a dead language.

Ohhhhh
@Doorknob Someday. Someday.

@AlexA. Never.
Nunca.

translate: nunca
(from Spanish) never

Insomnia is my favorite esoteric nigh unusable language

2:01 AM
@Sp3000 Right, so that's what you need the third one for.

Yeah... unfortunately :/

^ (partly for fun, but some of it contains actual serious questions that I've been curious for a while)

The \n belongs to the end, by the way.

@Doorknob It wants me to log in :O

2:05 AM
oh
Do so, then :P

@Doorknob I took it.

Then your sample of responses will be limited to people who already have Google accounts and aren't too lazy to log in or people who are willing to make one.

Why

@AlexA. oh well :P

@Doorknob I wish the language like/dislike part had "N/A" or something similar.

2:06 AM
I didn't really take the last part all that seriously
So I made everything strongly disagree

> Leave them blank if you've never used the language, you only rarely use it, or you have no opinion.
@quartata hahaha

@Doorknob Wow, I can't believe I missed that.

Well, I guess that won't skew the real data too much, since everything just has one more of those

Anything else you'd like to say about the above questions or chat policy in general?

why did you make me do this

:D
ughhh I selected a radio button and now I can't unselect that row I should have considered this

2:08 AM
Also I actually do like cherry juice (a.k.a cjam juice)
But I like cranberry juice better
You'll also notice my favorite language selection is fairly biased
Although I did say I like Objective-C which is something

@Doorknob <inspect element>...

@El'endiaStarman Didn't work. The selected one looks exactly the same as the unselected one.
Probably done through JavaScript

@Doorknob ᴘɪɴ ᴛʜɪs

why aren't I in there? :P

hello!

2:18 AM
erlo
I lost the game.

?

I won the game

2:25 AM
@Doorknob ಠ_ಠ

@Doorknob for the chat poll, does the JVM Specification qualify as a "book"?

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ
@phase Does it have an ISBN number?

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Closed as duplicate

@AlexA. I think it's -0

2:28 AM
@AlexA. Deletes previous two questions.

@phase 6/10 would ISBN

@AlexA. 0.5999999999?

@AlexA. oh wait it's on amazon
What is a "sock" in chat? Is that like a web socket?

Wab sok it

2:32 AM
This is not the official policy.

Is there a two-byte arrow symbol?

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ =>

@phase seriously?

->

@phase In one character.
→ is three bytes

2:34 AM
@TanMath Like no joke, I have no idea what a sock is. I know the kind that go on your feet, but anytime I see people talking in chat about it I just kinda try to infer what is going on, but I can't ever figure out what a sock is.

Iᴛ's ᴀɴ ᴀᴄᴄᴏᴜɴᴛ ᴛʜᴀᴛ sᴏᴍᴇᴏɴᴇ ᴍᴀᴋᴇs

@phase It's short for sockpuppet.
A sockpuppet is an online identity used for purposes of deception. The term, a reference to the manipulation of a simple hand puppet made from a sock, originally referred to a false identity assumed by a member of an Internet community who spoke to, or about, themselves while pretending to be another person. The term now includes other misleading uses of online identities, such as those created to praise, defend or support a person or organization, or to circumvent a suspension or ban from a website. A significant difference between the use of a pseudonym and the creation of a sockpuppet is that...
The use of multiple Wikipedia user accounts for an improper purpose is called sock puppetry (often abbreviated in discussion as socking). Improper purposes include attempts to deceive or mislead other editors, disrupt discussions, distort consensus, avoid sanctions, evade blocks or otherwise violate community standards and policies. The term comes from sock puppet, an object shaped roughly like a sock and used on the hand to create a character to entertain or inform. In Internet terminology it is an online identity used for deception. Wikipedia editors are generally expected to edit using only...
Fun fact: I use to edit Wikipedia.
We take our socks very seriously.
Too seriously, really.

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ according to dennis, no

@TanMath Darn.

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Yeah there is.

2:36 AM
@quartata SHOW MEH

One second lemme get it for you

YAYAYAYAYAY
HAPPY

@Dennis How often do the TIO interpreters get updated?

Right now, it's a manual process. Until I implement proper sandboxing, automatic updates seem risky.

k

2:38 AM
@AlexA. Note also that he allowed me to take over. — Faraz Masroor 20 mins ago
On the new Mafia sandboxed post

@Doorknob Your quiz needs some additional options. Preferred quote/brace style depends on the language IMHO.

Never mind I was wrong

Did monorail forfeit that KOTH he's had sandboxed for a year?

It's 4 bytes apparently
Sorry.

I've given up on 3-language 1-byte, but even 3-language 2-bytes is tricky :/

2:39 AM
@Sp3000 Need help with something?
I know a lot of retarded languages.

It'd be amazing if you happened to know one where 3u outputs 2 :P

You just need to find one with implicit output and where u is a decrements :P
or if u outputs the length of the code

Harder than it sounds :P

@Sp3000 hm

2:41 AM
Especially since esolang wiki doesn't really have a "search language by command that does this" :(

Dammit, Microscript prints 0.

@Dennis Try Microscript II
I was actually just about to test it in that
I think it does something like that

Because that's one more?

@Sp3000 Is there one that prints 1 using 3u?

Japt

2:43 AM
Outputs 3 in MicroScript II.
Trying something else now, don't worry

@FarazMasroor It's been so long since I did this that I've kind of lost my drive to make it happen, haha. If I do end up posting it, it probably won't be for a long while. I can take a look at yours. — undergroundmonorail Jun 12 at 17:41

3u is basically Japt/(something)/(anything which prints 3 verbatim eg GolfScript)/Seriously so it'd be 2/64 if we can fill the gap
Still doesn't beat Martin, but it'd be hilarious

\x13 prints null in MicroScript II.

@El'endiaStarman Oh good to know. Thanks for the link.

Trying every interpreter on try it online

2:46 AM
how do you pop without printing in Seriously?
I am working on the polyglot challenge as well
My languages:
1. Python 1
2. Python 2
3. Python 3

@TanMath X I believe (I just mashed keyboard keys in the online interpreter until I saw a command which looked right)

4. Pyth
5. Seriously
6. C++
@Sp3000 good idea

Doesn't work on any of the interpreters on TryItOnline

Hm... darn (thanks for checking)
I've tried chucking it through my random batch of interpreters for the HW Quiz, and so far only Insomnia ever outputs a number (which is usually 0)

Here's a suggestion though.
Try looking for languages where the 3 is ignored and u prints out 2
I think that'll be your best bet
Maybe Deadfish or something...?

2:50 AM
or just look for a language where u decrements

Deadfish probably doesn't count as a language - I raised that with Martin cos otherwise it'd be an easy one to fit
u decrementing is only half the problem - you also need implicit output

Are you allowed to output as byte values (0x03 for 3)?

By the looks of the challenge, I don't think so?

@TanMath definitely X

2:54 AM
Say your language name if you want your language name to appear as an easter egg in Jolf.

Python

your language name

@phase how do you pop all the items in a stack in O?
@Dennis so?

Just doing as I'm told.

@TanMath lL;d

2:56 AM
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Gnaloknim

@phase how to you terminate?

@El'endiaStarman what is that?!

Minkolang, but queue-based.

@TanMath there is no termination

@El'endiaStarman Link?

2:56 AM
@TanMath you could wrap the other code in a string and pop it

@Dennis Are you taking orders? Can I order a taco?

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Nah.

@El'endiaStarman sighs

I'd love to, but...

@Dennis ooo I want a taco

2:57 AM
It...uh...

Woo I finally have a 2-byte 3-lang
This took me way too long (off to post)

@Sp3000 Nice!

@Dennis I want a taco too

@phase There's one here for you.

Poll: which question would you most like to see a duplicate of?

@quintopia Hello world.

lol, like "play it like it's code golf. submit the shortest solution of which your lang is capable and incorporate all golfing suggestions. longest solution wins."

Hey guys

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ what language is that?

@phase What is it written in, you mean?

3:00 AM
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ yesh

@phase .getEl(1)

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ ew nevermind

@phase XD
What were you going to say?

it had {}, which I like, and the getRandomEl was in no std which I know of

@phase Oh, I see.
Array.prototype.getRandEl = function(){
	return this[Math.floor(Math.random()*this.length)];
}

3:03 AM
oh no js is gross

...
Fine.
How's about this.
I will make a browser someday that does not use JS.
It will use a golfing language as it's core processing.
And it will be great.

+1

Oops sorry not CnR, answer chaining

Can someone tell me why this javascript snippet isn't working?

3:21 AM
@SuperJedi224 snip it, right here, right now

It's giving me a TypeError: Cannot read property 1 of null

Q: A Different Kind of Meta Regex Golf

Martin Büttner Notice: Following popular demand I have slightly relaxed the rules: The maximum regex size grows by 1 byte every 5 answers. Answer N may use up to 29 + ⌈N/5⌉ bytes. The score of each answer will be (M/(30+N/5))N In regex golf, you're given two sets of strings, and are asked to ...

^^ that one

jQuery.get("https://crossorigin.me/dilbert.com/strip/2015-12-04",a=>;{z=((a.data||{responseText:""}).responseText);console.log((new RegExp('<img .+? src="(assets.amuniversal.com/…)},"html")

@SuperJedi224 on what token?

3:23 AM
Exec seems to be returning a null array. Probably a problem with the regex.

@TanMath Because I wanted people (such as yourself) to stop harassing the bot

3var, Beatnik, ferNANdo and Clip? Maybe (basically golfy-ish, restricted source, restricted source, golfing lang without online interpreter)

Did DLosc make Clip or Pip?

3:52 AM
Pip

Oh! Phi's Element might not be a bad addition.
@Sp3000 So is Clip yours or is that the one Ynadadsj; made?

By Ynadadsj;

(What's his actual username?)

Incidentally, Dennis, don't add any of mine :P (they're pretty unstable)
Ypnypn?

As long as I can find interpreters, consider them added.

@Sp3000 Right, thanks. All I could remember was that it began with a Y and had an n in it.

Nope I got that wrong
Nope nevermind I did get that right

Q: Tips for golfing in Elixir (& Erlang)

SheharyarElixir is a relatively new functional language, which I've taken a deep interest in. I'd like to get general tips about golfing in Elixir and learn techniques that can be applied to code-golf problems that are somewhat specific to Elixir in general. Since it runs on the Erlang VM (BEAM), tips ab...
