The problem with accessibility is that in the end, from a business point of view, it's doing a certain amount of extra work on a product to open up a particular market segment. A lot of businesses probably conclude that that market segment isn't worth the cost of that work.

@murgatroid99 I feel like the best we can hope for, sadly enough, is a staggered release for accessibility. Which is pretty much what Netflix is doing.

From a social standpoint, it's terrible that that's the best-case scenario I can come up with, but it's the most sensible one from a business standpoint.

Q: Reviews on the Steam App

I've noticed on the Steam app that the feature that allows you to view reviews and player ratings for games is not there (compared to the desktop version). Is there a reason for this, and if so what is it? I only ask this because I often decide whether or not to buy a game based on it's reviews.

And what's better is you can see how companies try to fight it (hopefully with positive changes)

The general population is subject to a short attention span and what grabs their attention by being loud. The goal is to get enough people who care enough about these features to be loud about them so that it gets attention

because the thing is, if you ask most people if movies should have subtitles for the deaf, they would likely say yes. But most wouldn't notice if it's not there unless noise was made about it

I just want to say that I wasn't trying to defend people not adding accessibility features to their products. I thing it would be great if everything was accessible to everyone, with every possible disability. I even work for a company that explicitly makes that their mission. I was just trying to say what Yuuki said above: that I don't think there's even close to sufficient economic and social pressure to actually make it happen.

It's quite a bit slower for me because I'm not as precise without the ingrained muscle memory of normal typing

@KevinvanderVelden I'm not ambidextrous, but that isn't that big of a problem.

Besides - 1) it would be great for ergonomics, because you could hase the mouse in a much more natural position and 2) you could have your hand on the mouse while typing in numbers.

@KevinvanderVelden Muscle memory is everything in this case. Once you are used to using it with your left hand, you'll be fine.

I think that would be a nice thing, to have a keyboard with the numpad on the left side, or one where you can add it like a module to either the left or right.

Q: How do I restart probes that have lost power?

It seems that some probes (maybe all) switch off permanently after they lose power. I've got a nice probe (with reaction wheels) that is just dead in space. Is there a way to restart them?
