13 hours ago, by RegDwight
@MrHen Haha. Glad you noticed. :P
The Germans are beating the hell out of you.
@Kit Fritos has a room?

Wow, mission 18 is even more problematic

Kit
@RegDwight No, more like a bag.

45 mins ago, by Vitaly
Bloodthirsty enemies are a pain in the bottoms when you don't have the cards. :-/

@Kit Wow, you fit into the bag?
@Vitaly Every enemy is a pain in the ass if you don't know how to beat them.
Truisms today!

@RegDwight Or if you don't have the cards.

Kit
1:03 PM
@RegDwight I am a fennec fox, smallest of all foxes.

Or that.
@Kit You only say that because you can't see your own ears.

Kit
@RegDwight I'm not sure that makes sense. Sounds inflammatory and baseless to me.

I am here to...

Huh. Actually, Mission 18 isn't that hard.

Kit
@RegDwight Install the AC?

1:11 PM
Yeah, that's the word I was looking for. AC. Also, DC.
@Vitaly Usually once you've figured out how a mission works, you'll also easily beat several subsequent missions. Until you hit the next real challenge and have to adapt again.

@Reg: Should I buy a gold deck when I get 5k gold, or wait for 10k to buy an enclave deck?
64 of 111 collected for standard

I used to spend money on Enclave until I noticed that the cards aren't that great.
If you look in the forums or the chat, you'll see that people agree that you should stack up on Gold first.
Especially this early in the game.

I have bought 3 Golds already.

Good for you.

Would it make sense to get 5 Silvers instead?
Or something else than 1 more Gold.

1:20 PM
Bah. I throw up my hands in despair.

@Vitaly Sure. I even used to buy like 10 bronze decks in a row until I had enough of all those cards.
But silver is certainly better.

… Okay, thanks

@RegDwight I disagree with this. Buy only Gold.
(Well, buy one of Silver and Bronze for the crappy achievement.)
Rares are the worst to get.
Then again, I am not doing so hot right now... so...
I can't beat these guys decks. :(

Finally a vampire card. :D
The energy refill thingy is frustrating.

@MrHen Well, I am buying only Gold now. But that's because I already have 10 of each common card.

1:28 PM
@RegDwight Right, I guess that is my point.
Even early on, the commons and uncommons start stacking up

I'm a completionist. I need to have every card, no matter how crappy.
Who knows if one day I might need to spam Infantry?

what does mean by "intuitive" ?

Kit
@RegDwight All Russians need spam Infantry.

Hue is also a less sensitive to different skin color
what does it mean ?
"less sensitive "

1:32 PM
What's your mother tongue, BTW? There aren't that many languages that haven't borrowed intuitive.
Look, Miss, in case my repeated linking to a dictionary is too subtle: this chat is not a dictionary.

as i understand intuitive mean true
hmm ok @regDwight i understand
sorry for that ..

It's okay to ask about stuff you don't understand after looking in a dictionary.
Just understand that we expect some minimum effort.

yes that'y i asked

Kit
@Martha Good morning!

Well, which definition of "intuitive" or "sensitive" are you looking at, and which part of it is causing problems?

1:35 PM
I stand by my belief that "good morning" is an oxymoron.

Kit
Maybe now we can take over the conversation with something that is not War Metal Tyrant.

But greetings and salutations, nonetheless.

Kit
Szia!

Careful, mentioning beliefs summons you know whom.

I have just problem with intuitive

1:36 PM
Ah, have the menfolk been at it again? Or still?

Kit
@RegDwight Vitaly's already here.
@Martha For like, hours. I can't believe they find it so interesting.

@Kit Well, if by "here" you mean "over at Kongregate playing that game" then yes.

Kit
I mean, I'm trying to waste some time here, you know.

And we are not wasting your time how?

Kit
@RegDwight Wha—? He was just here.

1:37 PM
I think it's more like days. Yesterday I managed to check into chat twice, and both times it was some small group of people going on about cards and medals and I dunno what.

Kit
Agh! There he is!

See, you summoned him.

@Kit Wait... so we're accidentally making you productive?

Jinx.

Screw it. I'm leaving the typo in.

1:38 PM
Ätschi-bätschi!

@RegDwight: I did what I could, but apparently my PvP decks still need some tuning :P

Now that is a Coke.

Kit
That's me, pre-Bazooka girl.

@Kit Not quite there.
Jan 4 at 17:45, by Kosmonaut
"You all want any coke?" -- "Sure, I'll have a 7up"

Kit
1:40 PM
@RegDwight Men.
You give them a scantily clad woman and they say "I'd prefer a 7-UP."

@Martha More like "Now that is a Thumbelina".

What do you have against little people, anyway?

May 7 at 13:36, by RegDwight
Can't have no short people round here.

May 7 at 13:37, by RegDwight
@Kit Is that Blondie?

Kit
1:42 PM
There's a Mr. Pibb for you, ingrate.

@RegDwight More importantly, what is she wearing? Is that a Maleficent collar?

Kit
She's supposed to be a devil.

Women.
You give them Blondie and they say "I'd prefer to know what she's wearing."

Kit
@RegDwight It's not Blondie. It's me, pre-Coke girl era.

@Kit Wouldn't a set of horns have carried that message a bit more, um, clearly?

Kit
1:45 PM
@Martha Yes, but then they would have been censored of displaying horny women.

Stop pretending that you're every woman. That would make you Whitney Houston.

@kit Is that you in the first above pic ?

Kit
@Miss Not really. Just jokes.

@Kit Uh, thwack? I think?

hmmm...
anyways if thats you then you are pretty cool...:)

1:47 PM
Otherwise, not!

Kit
I was an artist's model for many years, though.
A picture of me was once plastered on the side of a building on Fourth Street in Manhattan.
That's about as close as I got to fame.
I mean, besides hitting 3k rep on EL&U.

Well, right now the number showing beneath your name in chat is 6660. I think we need to be afraid.

Kit
This is one of me. Mostly.

What am I even looking at?

I was already afraid. Was it really necessary to terrorize me further?

1:54 PM
Let me guess, the title is "Dismembered Puddle Flowers"?

It's 6662 now.
She's going through her questions and accepting stuff to get to 6666.

Kit
@RegDwight No, "Broken Promise" I think.

@Kit Broken I see, but promise?

Kit
@RegDwight Wedding dress?

1:56 PM
I like Reg's title better.

Mar 4 at 12:47, by RegDwight
Broken Flowers is a 2005 French/American comedy-drama film written and directed by Jim Jarmusch and produced by Jon Kilik and Stacey Smith. The film focuses on an aging "Don Juan" who embarks on a cross-country journey to track down four of his former lovers after receiving an anonymous letter stating that he has a son. The film stars Bill Murray, Jeffrey Wright, Sharon Stone, Frances Conroy, Jessica Lange, Tilda Swinton, Julie Delpy, Chloë Sevigny, and Mark Webber. Plot Don Johnston (Bill Murray), a former Don Juan having made a small fortune in the computer industry, wants to live in qu...
@Kit A dress is not a promise. Look it up in a dictionary of your choice. I'll wait.

Kit
@Martha I didn't name it. I guess it is a little disturbing, now that you mention it. The artist is a funny little elf, so "scary" never entered my thoughts when working with him.
@RegDwight A wedding dress implies a certain kind of promise. Are you being thick?

Stop calling Salvador Dali "a funny little elf". He wasn't funny in the slightest.

Kit
No, no, I had sexual relations with Salvi; I never modeled for him.

@Kit If by "thick" you mean "a multi-platinum American R&B Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter, musician, composer, and actor, except without the E", then yes!

Kit
1:59 PM
I picked this picture because it doesn't show my face clearly. And the body parts are all different models.
@RegDwight That reminds me how Alan Thicke once terrified my child.
...but as I write "body parts," I realize that might be disturbing for some people.

Oh my. Is there a single person on this planet who is not somehow related to you or your children or you making children?

Kit
@RegDwight Um. You?

May 27 at 12:29, by RegDwight
I am a Turing-incomplete pineapple.
Pineapple != person. Look it up in a yada-yada.
Besides, I thought we've just established that I am Alan Thicke.

Kit
Well, I'm sure that there are. I just don't know them yet.

So this was just my way of saying, "huh, I never terrorized any children".
I gotta go terrorize some Germans though.
BRB.

Kit
2:04 PM
Well, Alan Thicke didn't know he terrified my son. He just happened to say "Hello, everybody!" on TV at the exact moment my son turned the volume to maximum.
Brings tears of laughter to my eyes every time I think about it.
His eyes got huge, he plopped down on the floor, and started crying and shaking uncontrollably.
Damn that Alan Thicke! giggle
Pardon me while I pout. I just got downvoted for "predilection." I really like that word too.

Is that your pick for "better than premium"?

Kit
No, the Swedish girls question.
4
Q: Expression for something you particularly like

BobI'm not a native English speaker. I want to find the English equivalent of ho un debole per le ragazze svedesi that, in Italian, basically means "I particularly like Swedish girls." (It's just a random example; it might apply to many other things.) The point is that you want to emphasize the fact...

"Penchant" was already taken.
"Predilection" is my second favorite.

@Reg: CSS is busted on mobile and it won't let me post on meta about it.

I voted up both penchant and predilection.

Kit
I have a certain predilection for puzzles. — John Nash in A Beautiful Mind
Who played John Nash in that movie?
Russell Crowe?
I hate that guy.

2:15 PM
Russell Crowe.

Kit
Jinx

What am I even looking at?

Keeps asking me if I'm human... Even in spite of my Turing cheat program.

Kit
Check out the head on that beverage.

See, it's Robusto who is cheating.

How can you hate Maximus Decimus Meridius???

Kit
@RegDwight The official beverage of the State of Maine.
It tastes like ass unless you add Jagermeister. Then it's quite drinkable.

2:18 PM
This sure is damn near unusable w/o CSS.

Kit
Ever had horehound candy?
Like that, liquified and bubbly.

@kit: What does ass taste like, and how do you know?

Kit
That's what you get for your cheaty meta-jinx.
@Robusto I read this.

@Robusto, why are you using a mobile? Is there something wrong with your internets?

@Robusto Dogs like to taste ass. I suppose foxes are not much different.

2:21 PM
@Martha: on vacation...

If you're on vacation, what are you doing in ELU chat??
Go! Do vacation-y stuff!
(Who am I kidding, I'm as addicted as you are...)

Waiting for people to be ready for brunch.

Kit
Ok, which one of you is cyber-stalking me?

You have a stalker? Ooh, can I have one too?

Hmm? What? What kind of stockings? Lacy ones?

2:30 PM
@Martha So that's why you keep posting all that private data about yourself and your family...

Kit
@aedia Actually I prefer backseam stockings with cuban heels.

Just keep on going, you'll get tons of stalkers in no time.

Kit
Hi @aedia!

@RegDwight I do not!
Hmph.

@Kit Backseam stockings with cuban heels sure look strange on a fox.

Kit
2:31 PM
@Martha Somebody searched for me on Google, not long after I posted that picture...

Good morning all. I'm awake thanks to the miracle of coffee. I think.
@RegDwight I'm sure they look quite foxy.

Kit
I don't like the butt on this model though. Too skinny to really be foxy.

That's not a fox. Also, not a woman. That's just Photoshop.

Q: W → V, V → F. Why do German speakers wrongly transpose rather than shift when speaking English?

adolf garlic If German "W" is pronounced like an English "V" and German "V" is pronounced like an English "F" i.e. W → V V → F Why is it that I continually hear German speakers pronounce their (English) V's as (English) W's when speaking English? 'Wirtual Reality', 'Wideo' for instance. It doesn't...

Kit
@RegDwight That explains the lack of ass.

Photoshop explains a lot.
Photoshop explains alot, even.

2:39 PM
@RegDwight It took me way, way too long to understand what that had to do with foxens and womens. shakes head and tries to wake up more

Wait, are you saying that you do understand what that has to do with foxens and womens now?
Do share.

F's and W's? or... am I still dreaming?

Wow.
You've had way too much coffee. Not even I am that smart!
Rhodri shows up just in time to be greeted with pictures of alot of asses.

Kit
@RegDwight Men's asses though, so I think that's okay. Right @Rhodri?

@Kit That would indeed be preferable :-)

Kit
2:46 PM
@Rhodri Here's a nice one just for you. But probably NSFW.

At least they aren't talking about the game

I like how the NSFW butt is titled "News and Opinion".

Kit
They were. Martha and I dragged them down like sick gazelle.
Gazelles?
What's the plural of gazelle?

Gazelles.

Kit
Frigging semantic satiety.
Thank you.

2:48 PM

Yeah, gazelle reaches satiation particularly quickly.

See, mine comes with links :-p

Wiktionary says either is ok. en.wiktionary.org/wiki/gazelle

@RegDwight I suppose there's plenty of opinion to be expressed

Whoops @Rhodri beat me to it.

Kit
2:49 PM
@aedia But he disagrees with you.

@Rhodri But will any of that opinion be news to anyone?

@RegDwight Uh, there's something wrong with your savannahs or deserts or whatever the native habitat is of those things.

What can be possibly wrong with that?
In fact I am certain @Kosmonaut will love that.
Feb 17 at 20:53, by Kosmonaut
They had truck-o-saurus there.
Feb 17 at 20:53, by Kosmonaut
He ate a car and it bled oil.

@RegDwight No horns, for one thing. Wait, trucks have horns. Nevermind.

That looks like it belongs in the family tree of the Muldenkipper and not the gazelle...

2:51 PM
Feb 17 at 19:20, by Martha
OWWWW! That's terrible! THWACK THWACK THWACK THWACK THWACK!

Some sort of Muldenkipper GAZelle hybrid.

@Reg: What's reputation? The Wiki says something about being able to purchase cards through friendly reputation (or higher), I got there via the Tyrant section of the Wiki, is that actually part of Tyrant?

@Vitaly Yeah. They mean the stuff you unlock under "Store" -> "Rewards" -> "Reputation".

Though I also got this in my search, which seems like a genetic anomaly

Oh. Thanks.

Kit
2:58 PM
Off to lunch. TTFN.

Mahlzeit!

Hasta luego!

so is an impulse walker worth it?
looks like I am a loooong way to honored reputation for any of the factions

It's not utterly useless. I do have one.
It's not part of my standard deck, but I put it in occasionally.
I don't use many Raider cards in general.
This one is not bad and fits my rainbow deck just fine.

so I shouldn't probably bother with it then until I can actually use it, I guess

3:01 PM
Yeah, I'm sure you've got other worries right now.

yeah I was just looking for ways to get some gold

The wiki has an article dedicated to Gold Grinding.

yeah saw that, I'm yet to get to those missions

@aedia I have a LEGO muldenkipper.

@RegDwight You said you had a yellow one! Have you a blue one as well?
I am so jealous.

3:09 PM
Um, the yellow one I posted earlier. It wasn't a muldenkipper, though.

Ohh we were discussing other trucks.

But yeah, I have 200+ sets.

Drools
You have the yellow Hauler. I remember.

Tips for Mission 20)?

@aedia This one is the awesomest set ever.
Though the off-roader ain't bad, either.

3:12 PM
I have no LEGO at all at my current tiny apartment except the figures from my wedding cake topper. All the rest is in storage.

And that's just Technic. Don't get me started on Creator.

@RegDwight Oh man. I never had any Technic set that big, except one of the general-purpose sets.

I used that for Mission 19 and I am still waiting for energy refill for Mission 20

@Vitaly Lemme see.

The enemy has some new cards, I am not sure how to play against them, will the same deck work?

3:14 PM
I have a technic R2D2 somewhere.

@Vitaly Just tried it. Two Hatchets, one Vampire and two Asylums killed him off in 9 turns without me taking a single hit.
@Martha No freaking way!
You wanna some cookies in exchange for it?

Well, I don't have hatchets and I only have one asylum.

Ok, new rule: You talk about stupid game, I post baby pictures. This is your first and only warning.

@Martha But you see, you've been posting baby pictures for so long, we have to catch up!

I had a ton of fortresses and city stuff, from before there were Star Wars or Indiana Jones LEGO sets or any of that sellout crap (though... Star Wars models are cool). But I bought them all as a child so I never saved up for much of the big stuff.
As soon as I have a house, though...

3:16 PM
@RegDwight You've been talking about that game all weekend. You're caught up, trust me.

It was a slow weekend. And it is a slow day.

It was a long weekend that started in the middle of last week and is still going!

@aedia Yeah, I'm looking at some Sponge Bob and Cars 2 sets right now... I have pretty much every Toy Story set, but not much Indiana Jones or Star Wars.
And the Harry Potter series is insanely expensive.
Apr 21 at 22:36, by RegDwight
And I probably dislike Joanne K. Rowling more than I do George Lucas.
Apr 21 at 22:36, by RegDwight
So I try to avoid paying them huge monies.

Dammit. Stupid work interfering with chat. Gotta go.

Apr 30 at 14:40, by Robusto
The royal wedding is worse than George Lucas and J. K. Rowling put together.

Well, I don't have hatchets and I only have one asylum.

Hooray! We can talk about stupid games while @Martha is stupid working!

@Martha Good luck and come back soon! Or else they'll talk about it all day...

@aedia You have any baby pictures you can post in my absence?

@aedia — Just join us. That was my initial reaction too. :P

@Vitaly No sweat. Use the Annelid, they are freaking strong through level 50ish.

3:20 PM
@Martha I don't have any babies yet! Still practicing.
And none of my friends have burst yet.

Resistance is futile!

Ok, I'm really going now.

Several about to, though. I find it creepy when they post pee sticks and ultrasounds online. I want to make sure it's a human first...

Ok, my usual deck beat that in 6 turns 8)

3:21 PM
Resistance is futile!

@RegDwight Coincidentally, Star Trek:TNG complete collection just came out on streaming Netflix and has been cutting into my sleep time.
I think Riker looks better in rainbows.

A friend of mine has every TNG collection ever, and he's seen every episode fifteen times.

Would that friend be you?

The funny thing is, he's not a geek at all.
@aedia God no.
I've watched a couple episodes.

Sure, sure. "My friend has a problem."

3:24 PM
I actually like that German satire better.

Waah, I can't understand it enough to know if it's funny.
At least it distracted me from looking at LEGO sets I can't have while I live in a studio high-rise.

3:40 PM
@Reg: Just checking that I am not missing anything: Vampire is a standard common card and so should be encountered in Bronze sets, right?

Kit
It is my dream to own a full-size LEGO Dalek.

@Vitaly I suppose so. I'm not 100% sure which sets which cards can be encountered in (barely anyone is). I only know that I never had a shortage of Vampires.

I have a shortage of Annelids too

@Kit Oh my, that would be frightening.

And I already purchased like 20 Bronze sets

3:45 PM

My two Vampires are from a Silver set and as a reward for a mission

Kit
@RegDwight Does it say "Annihilate" and is it confounded by stairs?

@Vitaly I think I only have like three annelids after all this time.
Life is like a box of chocolates.

@Kit Exterminate!

Kit
3:48 PM
@aedia Oh I know. I was just about to edit that, but it's too late.
I was hoping no one would notice.

I thought I was too late. Sorry.
I only know because I've just watched a whole bunch of Tom Baker Dalek episodes.

Kit
I can't figure out why "annihilate" is stuck in my head though.

Jun 3 at 15:19, by RegDwight
My slippers are annihilated. I need to deannihilate them.

Kit
@aedia I was just catching up on the newest myself, so no excuses for me.
@RegDwight You are so mean to Miss.
Although I agree about the "us not being a dictionary" thing.

... said the one who went on,
Jun 3 at 15:20, by Kit
@RegDwight My slippers have been decimated. I need to osculate them.

Kit
3:52 PM
@RegDwight Come on. That's not the same thing. "Deannihilate" is not a real word.
Funny thing about osculating —

If you watch closely, you'll note that I am never mean the first X times over. But if you don't actually learn anything from those X times, then I am very sorry, I am not an answering machine.

Kit
@RegDwight Wait for the beep.
And you will be, once your Turing tests are complete.

Precisely. I only beep X times. Then I stop beeping and start doing something else.
It's the whole "give a man a fish vs. teach a man to fish" thing.

Kit
@RegDwight Fish makes me barf.
^ We call those "toilet paper" comments.

Pluralis majestatis?

Kit
3:55 PM
No, my husband and I.
And a few select elites.
Want the story?

Do I have a choice?

Kit
This time, yes.

Then go on.
(Famous last words before regretting...)

Kit
We were organizing a local festival with twelve other people one year.

Let me guess, in Foucault's room?

Kit
3:57 PM
I mentioned that it would be a good idea to have one contact person, a "floor boss" if you will, for each shift.

So it was in Foucault's room.
Okay. Go on.

Kit
The floor boss would know, for instance, where the toilet paper was or where the extension cords were stored, in case there were questions.
The next half hour was spent discussing where the toilet paper was kept. Likely in the hallway storage closet, but Billy would check for sure the next time we were there.
In other words, they totally missed the point.
And no, it wasn't in Foucault's room. We call those "romps" not "festivals."
