Up until the point where enough people who wanted BTC had bought them, so there wasn't a lot of demand anymore. I think on Nightly it stops chewing 100% CPU after it finishes loading, but you could easily combat that "problem" by being malicious and repeatedly showing and hiding the image with javascript, for instance
