holy crap, year ban for guilo?
5
I figured he'd only be up to a month or three for his next one

@Sconibulus was he found to be sockpuppeting again?

Dunno, it just says rule violations

I think sockpuppeting is voting irregularities?

Yeah seems like it

1:09 PM
@Sconibulus yes, that's it
I remember he answered one of my minecraft questions once. I want to self-delete because it was so bad and nigh unreadable.

LOL

Good morning, Bridge

@KevinvanderVelden Really? His suspension was like... a day? It ends today.

@fbueckert morning

so does Rule Violations mean something more severe then sockpuppeting?

1:11 PM
This is his 3rd or 4th time for this!

@Fluttershy check the year =p

@Fluttershy it ends next year

Oh. <_< Derp.
@Sconibulus In this case, it was sockpuppeting repeatedly, despite suspensions.

@Sconibulus He got off easy the last few times.

> Yes. We expect community members to treat each other with respect … even when they don't deserve it.
Just because he's not here don't start being mean to him.

I'm not saying you are, yet.

Q: Plants vs Zombie 2 : Efficiency of Single vs Double Sun Flowers at the start of the level

ExtrakunIn Plants vs. Zobmbie 2, the single sun flower costs 50 sun, while the double cost 125. With 1x initial sun upgrade which gives 75 sun when a level begins (obtainable in one of the side branches), you can wait for 2 normal sun drops and you can build a single Double Sunflower. Or you can plant 2...

@RonanForman But be wary lest the conversation step over the line?

@TrentHawkins Exactly.

damn, missed it.

1:17 PM
@tombull89 Someone just flagged me saying, "Finally"
5

LMFAO

@MichaelDunfield It works best if you accompany it with a really ambiguous description.

@RonanForman Yeah, you're right.

@fbueckert I am 99% sure I know who flagged that.

For example: Oh wow! Can you believe this is a thing? I can't wait!

1:20 PM
@RonanForman Hahahaha I should have done that

@Sterno Pretty sure I know, too. Don't really care who it is, though.

I don't know why anyone would think that flag would get approved, though. Even with context, but especially without it.

I missed it, what was the message?
Oh
Huh...

@fbueckert I got a circle pad pro for my DS last night. Now I can maybe think about playing MH3

Whoo... finished my project.
I'm gonna go crash for a couple of hours.

1:22 PM
@Sterno Underwater fights!

@Sterno That sounds like a feminine hygiene product

@MichaelDunfield I agree.

Oh wait, I have one last piece of homework to finish.

@Yuki Sounds like a great ideaeaeaeaeaeaeaaea........ User quit unexpectedly.

1:31 PM
Bad idea of the day!

Q: Remove lurkers by enforcing upvoting

ebelOver on stack-overflow, I have 2 or 3 questions that have over 1000 page views and its hard for me to believe that they only have 1 up-vote each. I am not saying my questions deserve it, but I have seen some really stupid questions that have way more, with less views. No examples at the moment, b...

Sometimes I wonder if @Gnomeslice is a cleverly-programmed advertising bot.
6

@Sterno Or at least sold his account to ad bots.

@Sterno I think we've all wondered that at some point.
Sep 29 '11 at 18:39, by Powerlord
All in favor of replacing @GnomeSlice with a bot that posts the same Youtube videos at random times every day, star this post.

@Wipqozn I wouldn't say cleverly-programmed advertising bot

1:37 PM
It'd be a terrible idea, there really aren't enough people here to make it worthwhile.
Unless this is the beta test.

@KevinvanderVelden Aww, now you're just being mean.

Also, does anybody here know how to do this?

there are literally dozens of people here

> disable OpenGL extensions

@MichaelDunfield Awww. In my day, we circumvented security to play Gorilla.

1:37 PM
@KevinvanderVelden It is clever, because everyone thinks he's a real person.
We only suspect his true robot nature.

also, @Gnomeslice probably gets a higher clickrate than most ads

@fbueckert I thought that was my job? Must've read the job description wrong then

Q: How to find High-Level and Low-Quest Skyrim SaveGames?

Cengiz FrostclawI played Skyrim a lot, and then got a knee in the harddisk, formatted, forgot to backup the savegames. So I'm looking for a savegame, which has gained skills, but not completed any -or many- quests. Side Question Or an easy way to increase perks could work too. I know I can use player.modav sk...

@MichaelDunfield You think that's good? The school where I work want every kid to have their own device. So they can install what they want on it, bring it to school to do work on and then play their own games.

1:38 PM
@Sconibulus I doubt it

wiat, what? Guilo got banned?

@Wipqozn Yup.

@Wipqozn Welcome to an hour ago.

@Wipqozn jup, whole year

@fbueckert Was he sockpuppeting again?

1:39 PM
(but, yes)

@Wipqozn Yeah, didn't you see @fbueckert cheering about it earlier

@tombull89 I was watching Star Trek.

20 secs ago, by fbueckert
@Wipqozn Yup.

@Wipqozn Very good. Carry on.

11 secs ago, by Wipqozn
@tombull89 I was watching Star Trek.

I guess California decided it didn't have enough debt, so 1 billion for iPads in schools was a good idea

@MichaelDunfield If he was sock puppeting then I'm cheering too.

@Wipqozn Yeah.
Sockpuppeting is for nerds

@Wipqozn which Star Trek?

@MichaelDunfield Your face is for nerds. buuuurrrnnn
@Sconibulus Deep Space 9
aka best star trek

1:40 PM
;_;

Apr 17 '12 at 13:11, by OrigamiRobot
@RonanForman Oh are we playing the quote game? I love this game!

@Wipqozn voyager is best pony

Nerds like pretty girls, so I'm pretty sure that's a compliment.
@kalina Voyager is terrible.

@Wipqozn I know, I wanted to incite rage

The only positive thing you can say about Voyager is that Kate Mulgrew is a fantastic actor.

1:41 PM
who is that

@kalina Janeway

@Wipqozn So you're saying he has a pretty girl's face?

oh, are you being serious?

@Wipqozn I dunno, I kinda liked it.

@RonanForman Yes.

1:41 PM
Voyager used to be my favourite Star Trek series. I think that's TNG now though.

@fbueckert I enjoyed it, but it's still terrible.

@fbueckert I need to rewatch some startrek

It has so many consistency problems.\
The Borg are a good example of this.

I just want new trek.

1:42 PM
I always liked TOS best

they used to be some huge threat but the crew of voyager manages to take out borg cubes like it's the simplest thing ever.

@Sterno thats old star trek with new pixels

@Sterno That's not sucky.

@MichaelDunfield Voyager was always my favorite, that's never stopped. Jane's got balls for a woman.

Or a reboot.

@Ender I... er...

@Wipqozn to be fair, they have an ex-borg that knows how borg cubes work.. it's not completely unbelievable they'd be pretty good at hitting the weak points

@Wipqozn Well, it was the most advanced ship starfleet had ever made, no?

Let's all talk about how much B5 sucks.

I haven't seen any Star Trek except that movie.

Q: Right distro for game emulation/media playback? older hardware

user185615I have an old Dell Dimension 8250 desktop (2002, made for XP Home SP2) Im trying to put to use. My plan is to strip it down, and use it to store files I want long term (movies, music and docs) and also have it be a light web browsing/gaming machine (some emus like epsxe, project64, snes/nes, wi...

@Ender I have so many issues with that sentence.

@Sterno This movie was so dumb...

@Sterno 1. It's too short.

@ronan no offense was intended. Should I have said she's cheeky?

Q: Total war series with a dual monitor setup

XenoxIn the total war series, specifically Rome and Shogun Total war 2, you can scroll/rotate the map by moving the mouse cursor to the edge of the screen. This works fine on a single monitor, but I have two monitors setup. When I move the mouse to the edge of the screen the game does not seem to det...

Q: Early Money Farming

ZibbobzIn Terraria, on my old world, my most efficient means of Gold Farming would be to fight a boss and grind its rare materials to sell for mass coinage. I'm not entirely sure how effective it was, but it was certainly the most fun way to make coin. Now I am starting out a new Minecraft world, ...

@MartinSojka That would not be among my list of complaints.

In unrelated news, what the hell happened to 538?

Jun 7 at 16:16, by OrigamiRobot
It's really dumb.

@fbueckert The most advanced ship for exploration. It was never built for combat.
@badp Thank you.

there's an election in like... a month, and I can't get my polling aggregation and statistics fix

1:47 PM
@KevinvanderVelden The entire idea behind the borg is they don't have major weak points, and even fi they did, you'd think they'd change them after 7 of 9 starting telling the entire crew of voyager how to destroy them.

@Wipqozn Combat was one of the main reasons I like Star Trek. The lasers were just pure eye candy.

Then DS9 should be your favourite.
The last 2 seasons consisted of an on-going war.

@Wipqozn every time you buff up a weak point you've created a new weak point, but yeah true.

@KevinvanderVelden But not one 7 would know about.
It was dumb.
The borg shouldn't have been as common as they were

Jul 25 at 17:42, by OrigamiRobot
I agree with @RavenDreamer and @fbueckert, but on the other hand, @Wipqozn is handsome.

1:49 PM
The Borg works best when you rarely see them, since it maintains that sense of dread and that they're a huge threat that the federation isn't able to deal with.

My fucking power went out

@Wipqozn like Romulans

@Wipqozn Kinda like the Dahleks do for Doctor Who.

there we go, a day in a channel and I've already affected their policy on chat
I am so good

I've gotten kinda tired of having them show up everywhere.

1:49 PM
Correct @Sconibulus @fbueckert
Romulans are fantastic villians.
One of the best Trek made, if not the best.

I thought Enterprise was ok

(cue hate)

I liked Enterprise too.

@kalina I liked Enterprise until they did too much mucking about with time travel

1:50 PM
Quantum Leap guy was the captain
And after a while they ran out of ideas
And were like hey: time travel!

Jul 12 at 13:00, by OrigamiRobot
It's so boring.

@Sterno So we may have almost had a flawless victory on our first go at the Berserker King.

@MichaelDunfield Yeah, I really enjoyed Enterprise.

@OrigamiRobot looks like you're out numbered

the finale was complete crap though.

1:51 PM
@GraceNote Is that like Burger King?

I thought the last episode was... @Wipqozn beat me to it

@Sconibulus Yeah, that was annoying.

@GraceNote I've found EO4 the easiest of the three I've played, but that's still surprising. By "flawless" do you mean "took no damage"?

@MichaelDunfield If you beefed him up a little, I guess I could see a little resemblance.

I started watching DS9

1:52 PM
@kalina Anyone that thinks the finale was anything other than the worst thing ever is objectively wrong.

but I got horrifically bored half way through the first season and decided it wasn't worth the hard disk space

@Sterno He only got one hit (well, technically four, via counter, but it was all in one turn) on us across the entire 12 turn fight.

@kalina Try Babylon 5

@kalina Like most Treks season 1 wasn't that good.

@GraceNote What'd you do to the poor guy?

1:52 PM
well I'm not downloading it again
ALSO

Sep 7 at 22:14, by OrigamiRobot
@Fluttershy BORING. AND. AWFUL.

It has some gems in it, but for the most part season 1 of DS9 WAS VERY MEH. I ALSO HIT THE CAPS LOCK KEY BY MISTAKE, OOPS.

Stargate SG1 seasons 1-7 are way better than any material ever made under the star trek name

@kalina Loved the season finale of season 7.

Not a fan of Stargate.

1:53 PM
That fight was epic.

@fbueckert season 5 and 7 were really good as far as TV series go

Sep 27 at 14:48, by OrigamiRobot
GUESS WHO'S USING AUTOCAD!

@kalina Never try Babylon 5.

Most of their problems seem to be them visiting an alien world, telling them they're doing it wrong, and then getting angry when the alien world tells them to fuck off.

I've been watching Stargate Universe a bit
@Sterno Shut up!

1:54 PM
I thought Richard Dean Anderson leaving killed an incredible amount of the momentum the show had at the time

@MichaelDunfield I enjoyed it. Shame it got cancelled because fans are dumb and hate strong characters.

SGU isn't that great

@MichaelDunfield I'm not just being contrary. I think that show is overrated by sci-fi fans, and awful.

Atlantis was alright though

1:54 PM
@Wipqozn Oh, it did? Ah...

I started out not liking SGU but it became my favorite.

until they replaced Beckett with fucking Kaylee

> Who does just a number 2?

@kalina Yeah, I was sad about that.

@kalina I liked her.

1:55 PM
@Sterno I just wish they hadn't killed it off after two seasons.

Beckett was way better than whatever her character was

And in such a crappy way, too.

@Sterno Snuck from behind, stunned him out of his charge, bound his arms during the counter round which led him to do nothing until the next charge, stunned out of that charge and landed another arm bind, predicted his next counter, bind lasted until turn 11 at which point we landed a blind, and so final turn he finally makes an attack but completely missed everyone, allowing Kefberg's Biding Slice followup to finish him. It was glorious.

SGU felt very slow, the ending was absolutely shocking though

@fbueckert A lot of that was because of fandumb.
There was a lot of hate for SGU just because it shifted it's focus more on characters.

1:56 PM
@GraceNote I've never had much luck getting stuns to land consistently. Was it luck, or do you have some mega awesome build?

Stargate: Ark of Truth is the best movie, if you exclude the original Stargate movie

It was so stupid. I hate fans. They're the worst.

but I think once they started moving from Egyptian mythology it lost something

@Wipqozn It was great, though. Granted, it wasn't classic Stargate, but it still had it's moments.

Robert Carlyle was about 50% of why SGU was awesome.

1:57 PM
@Sterno Stunning out of charges is based on dealing enough damage, s'far as we could tell.

@Sterno this was probably most of the problem

And the fights were also awesome. And seeing Eli jury rig the decrepit ship was cool.

@GraceNote Oh, I misread that. I thought you were stunning him, not just disrupting his charge.

Mr. Scientist dude that everybody loved to hate was perfect, too.

all of the former stargate material was 4-5 people of an emsemble cast with a supporting cast behind them

1:57 PM
It made Eli the good guy.

@fbueckert Rush?

@GraceNote So it was basically the arm binds that locked him up.

@Sterno Well, I s'pose using a term used elsewhere does muddle things a bit. Yeah, just meant that we succeeded in enough damage.

I don't think I had a high bind chance when I got to him, but I definitely used it to nice effect on some later boss fights.

But yeah, between pulling off the second arm bind (and how long it lasted), plus the blind at the end, it was pretty crazy.
We've also now had our third almost-wipe but so far I still haven't seen the game over screen and I endeavor to see how far I can go without it.
