12:00 AM
@Jake: congrats for the 100k! :)

5 hours later…
5:10 AM
@egreg I was too late, as @PauloCereda already did the job. Congrats @Jake!

Magnitudes of \vv{A} and \vv{B} can be written as A and B, respectively. My question is how to write magnitude of \vv{A}+\vv{B} that we usually write as \lvert\vv{A}+\vv{B}\rvert without arrows and vertical lines?
Is it ok to write \lvert\vv{A}+\vv{B}\rvert as simply A+B?

@PauloCereda Thank you!
@Werner Thanks! Good start to the week =)

@Jake I sometimes say I should study TikZ/PGF; but since you are around, there's no motivation for starting. ;-) Congratulations!

@egreg Hehe! Thank you!

7:15 AM
Hello, why does \SI{3\sqrt{10}}{\m} not compile?

@PGFTricks \SI[parse-numbers=false]{3\sqrt{10}}{\m}

@Jake OK. Thanks.

1 hour later…
8:30 AM
@PGFTricks If you set the convention that \bm{a} represents a vector and a its length, then you can use it. But it is not what I'd do.

@egreg OK. Thanks.

If anyone has a minute, could you try and compile the following, with and without standalone, and see if you get a misplaced \omit when standalone is used:
\documentclass{article}
\usepackage{standalone}
\usepackage{filecontents}
\begin{filecontents*}{tab.tex}
ABC &   1&   2&   3&   4&   5&   6&   7&   8 \\
\end{filecontents*}
\begin{document}
  \begin{tabular}{*{9}{c}}
        \input{tab}
	\multicolumn{4}{l}{Text} \\
	a & 1
	\end{tabular}
\end{document}

@Jake Congratulations !! A well deserved membership to the exclusive club :) Nectar and ambrosia will follow.

Are there any glossaries users around? I'm doing a major upgrade to glossaries and I want to make sure the new code is backward compatible with existing documents. If anyone is willing to test it, the new code is on my experimental page.

@percusse Woo, ambrosia! My favourite =)

10:00 AM
@percusse: ^^ :)

10:48 AM
@TorbjørnT. standalone changes the definition of \@iinput and it seems that this breaks parsing \\ correctly, probably because the next token after \input{...} is expanded in order to see what it is; in this case, this makes \omit appear untimely. Remove \\ from the input file and add it after \input{...}. And don't use \input inside tabular. ;-)

@egreg Thanks! I'd figured out that moving \` made it work (should have mentioned that). Using \input` in a tabular isn't something I usually do, it just made things a bit easier in this case. I'll consider using a different approach.

@TorbjørnT. \makeatletter\newcommand{\safeinput}[1]{\@@input #1\relax}\makeatother

11:05 AM
@egreg Didn't work, but thanks.
@egreg It's not a big deal, so no need for you to spend any more time on it.

@TorbjørnT. Sorry, the \relax should be changed into a space.
Or save the meaning of \@iinput in \latex@iinput before loading standalone and define \safeinput as \latex@iinput{#1}.

11:35 AM
While @Jake now hangs out with the big guys, I'm still struggling to reach 20k to get access to my own credit card. Life is fair. :P

11:54 AM
@PauloCereda You don't need access. We will use it for you.

@DavidCarlisle Hey! :) I'm going bankrupt. :)
@egreg's new iMac almost costed me a kidney. :)

@PauloCereda Oh I'd better spend up quickly before the funds run out.

And let us not forget @JosephWright's pre-ordering an Xbox One. :P
@DavidCarlisle Oh no! :)

12:24 PM
@PauloCereda it is too aggressive.

@PGFTricks Indeed. :) Maybe he's being attacked by a bee. :)

@PauloCereda :-)
@PauloCereda The right man seems to want to pee.

@PGFTricks LOL

1:06 PM
Dear fellow members of the 100k club: I just got an email from the Stackexchange community team, asking me what kind of swag I'd like as a reward for reaching 100k, linking to stackexchange.com/catalog. However, there's only Stackoverflow or "generic" Stackexchange stuff on that site, nothing with our beautiful logo! All I really want is a new TeX Stackexchange shirt, though... Did you guys get linked to the same page? Did you try (and suceed) in getting TeX Stackexchange swag?

@Jake The TeX.sx shirt brings me sad memories. :(

@PauloCereda You just missed being on the right page?

@Jake Two days after the shirt offer, I reached second page. :(

@PauloCereda Oh man!

@Jake Those bloody bastards. :)
By the way, the SO catalog sucks! Nothing worthy there. :)

1:13 PM
@Jake I got a so jacket (claiming to be xl but either it's not or I got fat:-) and an SO mug and pen, nothing tex related

@PauloCereda Hehe, I guess the drink bottle's alright. Could save my life at some point =)
@DavidCarlisle Hehe!

@DavidCarlisle boo!

@DavidCarlisle Did you ask them whether they have any of the TeX stuff left?

I want a sticker written "David Carlisle parses XML with TeX, your argument is invalid.".

@PauloCereda Oooh, yes, me too!

1:23 PM
@Jake I didn't know they ever had any

1:39 PM
@DavidCarlisle I'm proud of my TeX.SX T-shirt (just to make @PauloCereda green with envy).

@egreg I'm a sad panda person.

A big advance: instead of adding a % it's sufficient to add \the
@DavidCarlisle going for a badge!

@DavidCarlisle I want free stuff. :P

@PauloCereda It's OK I'll buy you one (I have access to a credit card)

1:44 PM
@DavidCarlisle Yay! Oh wait...

4 hours later…
6:11 PM
Urgently required: Is it possible to change enumerate items to be listed horizontally instead of vertically listed?

kan
:11352285 \usepackage{enumitem}

@kan then?

kan
@PGFTricks Read Section 4 Inline Lists of the manual.

@kan OK. thanks.

6:24 PM
Why can't we have a blank line in math mode? Any spaces are ignored in math mode except for the blank line, why?

1 hour later…
7:30 PM
@PGFTricks A blank line indicates a paragraph break. In math mode you're typically either displaying a single-lined formula (equation or \[ ... \]) or a series of equations (align, gather etc) so paragraph breaks don't make sense. If you want some white space to make the code easier to read, use %

7:48 PM
@PGFTricks what Nicola said and also in the primitive syntax $$ aaa = bbb$$ it is easy to get the delimiter pairs mixed up and stopping at a paragraph is the main thing stopping a missing $ messing up the entire document.

8:15 PM
@percusse: online mode, sir. :)

2 hours later…
9:53 PM
I have never been so desperate :)
my head hurts :)

@PGFTricks A blank line is converted to \par as part of the tokenization process. Knuth might have decided to ignore also \par token in math mode, as it's done in restricted horizontal mode. He didn't and had good reasons for doing it: \hbox is not as frequent as $...$, at least in the documents he writes; a missing $ is much more dreadful than a missing closing brace for \hbox.

10:22 PM
evening!

10:36 PM
@percusse I got 16

10:59 PM
@DavidCarlisle 14 here. But I think it more tests your monitor than your eyes :/

@DavidCarlisle I got 382
I win
first time was 600 something actually heheh
it's just torture, everything is funky and moving target if I pick up something it changes color etc.

@tohecz that was my thought as I was doing it

@DavidCarlisle Test M also. The sooner the better f he has it :)
Girls dig it you know heheh.
