@GnomeSlice A lot of cool stuff, but the article itself is terrible. Describing a simple WebGL aquarium as having "unlimited creativity"?

Morning, @Bridge

 C#

General discussions about the c# language, Squirrels | gist.gi...

@GnomeSlice You around?
Is anyone around?

@ShotgunNinja that descriptions sounds exactly like The Bridge...

2:16 PM
@Blem Except for "inherently on topic"

@SaintWacko and Classy

@Blem Heh

All of those are programming language terms. Class, inheritance, reflection, generics, expressions, methods, arguments.

@SaintWacko Everything's on topic here except for games. We don't talk about games.

@PrivatePansy Well, duh. Games are the devil's tool, clearly
@fbueckert That is fascinating. That would be incredible
I wonder what kind of asteroid that one easy one is
Slow this morning

2:29 PM
@SaintWacko I'm back
@ShotgunNinja Yeah the writing is terrible.

Let me know when you have it down so I can delete the message

got it

@ShotgunNinja I prefer to base my statements on ridiculous facts

You uh... might have to wait about 7-8 days again

@BenBrocka lol

2:31 PM
I'm out of data for the month, so I wouldn't be able to get on Steam until later
@GnomeSlice lol
Buy more games?

@SaintWacko Sorry. Something I've been really wanting went on a daily deal so I kinda bought it.

@GnomeSlice Heh, no worries

I can give you interest if you want.
@SaintWacko groupees.com/bm9
@SaintWacko Have you played any more Hammerwatch?

@GnomeSlice Hah, no, I wouldn't ever ask a friend for interest

I wonder if they've fixed the internet connectivity yet.
@SaintWacko I just feel dumb.

2:33 PM
@GnomeSlice I beat it once, got somewhat annoyed at the way it ended, and haven't again
I may play it today, though
Also, I've been playing Hexxit
Way too much

@SaintWacko You beat it? How far does it go? I played with @RedRiderX a bit and we died on like the second floor both times.

@GnomeSlice It's got 4 acts with 3 floors each

@SaintWacko Oh man, how the hell.
The stupid worm things are so hard.

@GnomeSlice What classes were you?

@SaintWacko Paladin and archer, and then... uh... archer and paladin
I think
Paladin is terrible against the worms

2:35 PM
@GnomeSlice Ha, yeah
I played ranger
Ranger is easy

Ranger is OP

Yes

@GnomeSlice Yeah, but you do have the chance to block shots with your swing, I think.

Especially if you have combo healing

I remember hearing something about that...

2:36 PM
Just lure in some enemies, hit a combo, and heal up
@RedRiderX I never saw anything like that, but if you're not swinging, you block all attacks from in front of you

@RedRiderX oh you can do that?
@SaintWacko I got that one once for my paladin and it appeared to do nothing

@SaintWacko Oh ok, maybe I just remembered it wrong then...
I haven't played it much lately.

@SaintWacko wait what?
you can get hit from the front and not take damage?

@GnomeSlice Did you build up a combo?

I haven't played anything much lately.

2:38 PM
@SaintWacko Yeah, I got the colour flash thing

@GnomeSlice That's how it was in the demo, anyways
Maybe they changed it

@SaintWacko whaaaaaaat

I never tried
Hooray for after effects!

@GnomeSlice Hm, that should have been healing you for 1 health every half second

2:39 PM
@SaintWacko only 1?
Maybe it did then. That's like nothing though

@GnomeSlice Well, considering even the shortest combo keeps going for a few seconds, that's like a free apple
And you can keep upgrading it
I had mine at 4 health per second

apples are like 25 health aren't they
ah

er, half second

I enver got far enough to upgrade it

apples are 10
oranges are 25

2:40 PM
@RedRiderX kept killing me on the spike traps

@GnomeSlice Only the one time!

@RedRiderX =P
You waited until I was on the last tile too.

@GnomeSlice How did he do that?

@SaintWacko Walking around and accidental hitting buttons.
:I

To the downvoter(s): Could you please consider commenting on why you downvoted this question? This is so I (and others) would know what was wrong with it, and so I could address that concern or edit the question to improve it. When downvotes are left without comments and the reasons for doing so are unclear, you'll often see users (like myself) wanting to know the reason why. — galacticninja 15 mins ago
Makes me want to downvote again with all the fury I have.

2:42 PM
@RedRiderX 'accidentally'

@GnomeSlice accidentally
Oh my now I've reached semantic satiation with accidentally.
It just looks weird now...

@RedRiderX I imagine you ran into this accidentally, then.

@RedRiderX axie den tally

@OrigamiRobot Existentially?

@OrigamiRobot Do you really say it that way?

@StrixVaria No, not at all.

@OrigamiRobot Could you please consider commenting on why you want to "downvote again with all the fury you have"? =)

@galacticninja FYI, RE: the D&D reference: I have a bunch of old D&D Mystara materials sitting at home from 15 years ago. It was a Thing.

@galacticninja There is no comment to make. I think the question is impractical.

Mystara was, IIRC, a kingdom from the same world as Greyhawk or something.

2:53 PM
@OrigamiRobot What do you expect? It's a lore question.

@galacticninja Which I mostly downvote for being impractical.

@galacticninja You do realize that there are people who categorically downvote just about any lore question, right?
This is not a New Thing either.
Not every downvote represents something you can fix.

@LessPop_MoreFizz I just now realized it.

Sometimes you just have to acknowledge that someone does not like your question and move the fuck on.

I am disappointed I have not had the opportunity to play D&D yet

@GnomeSlice D. No

okay back to work

@galacticninja: FYI, "Mystara" is basically Ken Rolston being Ken Rolston. Details in the answer. ;)

@galacticninja I don't just "hate lore questions" I hate impractical questions. Not all lore questions are impractical.

@fredley impossibru!
@OrigamiRobot I don't think I've missed anything yet. Although I probably can't remember it all.

slaps Visual Studio

@Powerlord always a good plan.

@Powerlord You're just perpetuating the cycle of abuse.

If I can right click a method and choose "Go to definition," then you're lying to me when you say class "Blah" has no member "BlahMethod"

3:28 PM
@fredley it's meant to be abused, it likes it.

Besides which, the code compiles.

@Powerlord That's pretty common in Razor files, unfortunately.

@JasonBerkan This is in a .cpp file

@Powerlord it's also pretty common there
Intellisense in C++ is not as good as in C#
(course, C++ is hideously complex for things like intellisense but meh)
But for now, of to home :D

Q: What items can be compacted into blocks?

Young GuiloIn Minecraft there are several items that can be placed together in a 3x3 or 2x2 block to create a "block of _". I've seen it done with Redstone, Coal, Wheat, and Lapis. What other items can be compressed into blocks so that inventory and chest space can be reduced? I have researched many times a...

How the shit do I make a graphic for that

Seriously? -5 and 2 close votes already?

@alexanderpas wtf, -12?
Why?
Somebody help me

I don't understand

I assume it's because it's a "list question".

3:55 PM
I don't see anything wrong with that question

@alexanderpas bullshit.
@SaintWacko Maybe it's because it's Guilo? Or a list question?

It's a useful question

Be we have TONS of list questions
So I don't really get that logic
@SaintWacko Upvote then I guess?

Q: What Minecraft resources are impossible or difficult to obtain in peaceful?

BryanI'm trying to find a definitive list of resources (from both the overworld and nether), that are 100% impossible to obtain in peaceful mode in a vanilla survival game without using any cheats. Furthermore, what resources become (very) difficult but not impossible to obtain in this situation?

What research effor could there have been?

This shows more?

@fbueckert still, IMHO it's a good question, no matter the research efford.

CC @SaintWacko

Trying every single item to find out which ones can be made into a block?

3:57 PM
@GnomeSlice This is an old question, the context was different back then.

@SaintWacko which makes it a perfect question for Arqade.

Oh wait, no it's not
Is that a dupe?

@alexanderpas No research effort is a valid reason for downvoting, however.

@fredley Oh

I haven't voted on it one way or the other.

3:58 PM
@alexanderpas Exactly. Someone out there will know the answer, or where to find it, without spending a bunch of time testing everything

I'm just pointing out that context can play a rather large part in voting decisions.

@fbueckert Ever heard of seed questions?

TBH, most of the downvotes were probably due to the user.
3

@alexanderpas Yup. And I hate 'em.
If it's not a problem you actually face, you shouldn't be asking about it.

@OrigamiRobot Which is bad

4:03 PM
@fbueckert To be honest I've always found this 'rule' a pointless restriction on content.

@SaintWacko If they're voting solely on who asked it, yes.
If they're voting on it because the user has a proven track record of low quality, unresearched questions, and the question shows those same hallmarks, it gets into a bit of a grey area.

@fbueckert Or know other people will face.

@OrigamiRobot That's a fair caveat. I had forgotten about that.
I'd prefer if it was a problem they themselves had actually faced, and resolved, but that's not a requirement.

I need to lunch.
Where should I go...

Q: No sound in PS3 with Call of Duty in HDMI connection to Monitor

PepI connected a PS3 to an Asus 24" Monitor (Asus PB248Q) via HDMI. The Asus monitor does not have internal speakers but has a jack for headphones. @OrigamiRobot Someplace with meat and cheese.

@fbueckert I was thinking of a sub.
Inflection is hard :(

If there's a Subway/Quiznos nearby, that might work.
In fact, Subway has a Steak & cheese sub. Kinda pricey, but not bad.

There's a Jersey Mike's that I frequently go to.
It's the only sub place I'll get cheese.

Never heard of it

@GnomeSlice They slice the meats and cheeses as you order the sandwich.

4:12 PM
@OrigamiRobot ooooo excellent

@OrigamiRobot Then your choice is clear.

Can we move this discussion elsewhere? There's no reason for this question to be so bogged down with comments. It got downvoted. Big deal. Downvotes are anonymous by design. Asking why it was voted down, or telling people how they should vote, doesn't help this question get answered. — Fluttershy 1 min ago

I did not get a sub.
I made a last minute decision to go to the chinese place next to the sub place.

@OrigamiRobot I'm sorry for your loss.

A: Do people in non-English-speaking countries code in English?

AlishahNovinI'm from Canada, but live in the States now. It took me a while to get used to writing boolean variables with an "Is" prefix, instead of the "Eh" suffix that Canadians use when programming. For example: MyObj.IsVisible MyObj.VisibleEh

I'm sure @fbueckert will enjoy that.

@Wipqozn lol

...Why is that tagged Galaxy?

@Sconibulus Because tagging as everything is apparently a good idea in the minds of some people.

4:58 PM
@Sconibulus I guess he thought that would get it more attention?
In information systems, a tag is a non-hierarchical keyword or term assigned to a piece of information (such as an Internet bookmark, digital image, or computer file). This kind of metadata helps describe an item and allows it to be found again by browsing or searching. Tags are generally chosen informally and personally by the item's creator or by its viewer, depending on the system. Tagging was popularized by websites associated with Web 2.0 and is an important feature of many Web 2.0 services. It is now also part of some desktop software. History and context Labeling and tagging ar...
> Tagging systems open to the public are also open to tag spam, in which people apply an excessive number of tags or unrelated tags to an item (such as a YouTube video) in order to attract viewers. This abuse can be mitigated using human or statistical identification of spam items.[18] The number of tags allowed may also be limited to reduce spam.
