So, funny: Wiki sez that the cot vowel is "(/ɒ/ in New England /ɑː/ elsewhere)".
@aediaλ Yeah.
I have no /ɒ/, even in CLOTH. Only /ɔː/.
:c
clawth. I saw clawth.
Seriously, I'll make a recording.
So-Cal-ers have no lawns.
They have lahns.
Write me a script or a list of words to say.
It's funny to me because I think I perceive the prestige dialect in my area to still not merge caught-cot, but to use /ɒ/ for caught and /ɑː/ for cot actually, so that when I use /ɔː/ for caught, it's still more rounded than what I try for if I try to sound... educated?
My normal speech has /ɔː/ in CLOTH yeah.

@aediaλ Where did you grow up?
As it were.
Upstate NY.
Oh, nearly same accent as me. No diffs, really.
Went out with someone from Rochester once, and it was identical as far as I could tell.
Then spent the last many years in Maryland/DC, then moved back north.
I'd like to hear you say album.
@aediaλ We’re both “Inland North”.
22:07
Yep!
@cornbreadninja麵包忍者 I'm fine, thanks. I never was a marathon runner. All my family is fine too.
@Robusto Glad to hear it.
:)
Glad to be able to say it. But this whole thing is pretty fucked up.
@Robusto Happy to hear you're safe.
22:11
Thanks.
@Robusto Good. Was afraid you or yours might have been shutterbug gawkers or something.
I was out with my son when it happened. Didn't even learn about it until my wife texted.
What happened? Glad you're okay!
22:51
@WendiKidd Bomb went off at a marathon in Boston.
Killed two, injured ~60.
@Mahnax Haven’t gotten solid numbers on it. Are those?
@tchrist That's one source, let me see if it agrees with others.
The numbers keep changing; I haven’t checked in the last hour or so.
@cornbreadninja麵包忍者 Try the lists of homophonous pairs in the articles like these. I mean, if you think you have a merger. I guarantee you'll either learn something or go nuts.
22:56
@tchrist I'm getting numbers between 50 and 75 for injured, but only 2 confirmed dead.
Less terrible. The dumb NYPost had 12 dead.
They’re a tabloid.
But the count may go up, and some may perish who yet linger.
Some of the "injured" include those with lost limbs; some of them might die.
goes hoarse muttering about hordes of hoarding horses, ignores sad news
Yeah. Weep.

Q: To Hold Victories

alegkIt is known that Wikipedia is not always edited properly. So, could this excerpt from Wikipedia have some problem: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evander_Holyfield Evander Holyfield holds other notable victories over fighters such as; George Foreman, Larry Holmes, Riddick Bowe, Ray Mercer,...

He’s posted that four times today. I got a Marshal badge out of it.
Also, a bombing killed 55 in Iraq today.
@cornbreadninja麵包忍者 Right.
@cornbreadninja麵包忍者 You have a voice??
@Mahnax my voice is available at that--yes.
People in chat only have text, no voices!
Only joking.
I, too, have a voice.
I heard Kit once.
She were singing to aedia.
Right, I heard that too.
It got starred.
You have a similar accent to some people that I know.
Whoa!
Some 'mericans?
Nah, some Canadians.
Nope, from around here.
(What is the demonym for Toronto?)
(No idea)
Torontonian?
I like it.
Dinner time; BBL.
OK, bye-bye.
23:48
NPR just said 2 confirmed dead, at least 87 injured. That is probably reliable.
@Mahnax Limey. :)
