people who like to close questions!
Yeah you.
Please.
Please stop closing so many questions
Just... cut it out.
I mean yeah sure if you have enough rep you got all these buttons to press. Button activated? Yeah press the shit out of that button! Every time! As often as possible. It feels great! S...
@Vikas so Trump has not known a single thing all his life for all the non-lies he's been spewing ever since someone raised him from a grave in celebrity cemetery
@M.A.R. I do think that, for the most part, he believes his own BS.
Anyway, my plan is to hoard Plan B and resell it on the black market in a few years. It should mean I can afford a new iPhone after the 1000% tariff kicks in.
@M.A.R. I’m surprised that you’re surprised about the VTC behavior and the concern it has caused among long-time users and moderators. @Mitch finally posted something that has gotten attention and, I think, made some of the VTCers think again. There have been lots of conversations here in chat, but they are amongst many other topics, so you might well have missed them.
@Araucaria-Him What to you call it when you splice up your poor hapless constituent and reassemble its fragments to either side of a different one? a number easy to remember > an easy number to remember? Why can we do this here?
@Mitch - I think Meta is for kissing @ss to get a real answer, usually in vain, or for telling people with 2 1/2 great interests and 1 1/2 great skills, on average, to kiss off.
I thought I would try to have the lowest Meta score in history…
And then I thought I'd bake a birthday cake…after my baking cabinet was rearranged.
@Xanne I'm not surprised at all. My origin site, Chem.SE, also closes way too many questions. It's just that any long-term solution requires a lot of dedication by at least a handful of people, and no one feels like doing that, I think. It's great that it's at least had some short-term effects though.
I'm not trying to be a downer, just realistic. Any one post anyone in this chat composes would be great, but to effect any real change, a shift in moderation behavior across the site, it needs to be someone with a lot of patience who would lose some sleep over coming to a compromise with everyone.
We are free to be grumpy. Grumpy alone is not mean. But I could do a whole article on posts on the main site and meta that are put-downs, rude, nasty, undercutting, etc. We have a rep, even within the Stack Overflow setting.
And we have the skills to do it. We know the words and we know how to put them togrther.
Sometimes by seeing it, otherwise by process of elimination. I come up with a solution to the whole puzzle, all four categories. Then I enter my guess for the purple first.
@alphabet Flamin' Hot Cheetos don't have any BPAs in them.
Or cheese.
They only have one ingredient: interstellar quantum plasma distillate. A thousand suns had to supernova, coalesce, then supernova again, taking literally billions of years, and trillions of sentient souls lost to produce this delicacy.
Yes, I am making a case for Whole Foods to stock Flamin' Hot Cheetos.
Only then will I step in their door.
If they want my business they'll have to slash and burn the unive... what? They already stock them?
Well, now I'm not interested.
I go by Whole Foods every so often for like one thing (the bakery bread?) but I'm always shocked.
After several Instagram reels I've now seen a more easily linkable Mashed post
making the same claim:
With how the Executive Order was worded, it technically classifies
everyone as female because that's what everyone is at conception because any (definitely male) sex-charasteristics only develop...
@Mitch Wikipedia tells me that's the original cheeto. Crunchy. But I grew up with puffy. I suppose that's what my mom liked.
@M.A.R. People in that question seem to think this is a biology question answerable by a biologist. When in fact it's a law question and will be answered by lawyers.
The order claims he's protecting "freedom of expression" because of course it does.
You know, sometimes I wonder if these people use "free speech" to mean "conservatives' right to never experience criticism or disagreement." Surely they wouldn't be that foolish, right? Right?
All those commentators in the persecution-industrial complex.
@alphabet They construie "free speech" to mean any speech that does not tro8uble Republicans.
To them, "gay" means what it did in the "Gay Nineties" ... and no, not the 1990s, but the ones 100 years before, when Queen Victoria was still alive and kicking.
> .. they vectorized all texts in all languages as if they were just a single language and dumped them into one embedding space called SONAR (Sentence-level Multimodal and Language-Agnostic Representations)
