@RegDwighт Kabash like squash has /ɑ/, wheras kibosh like wash has /ɔ/. Those are utterly different phonemes to me. I suppose you could put an /æ/ in kabash as though one were bashing someone, but I do not do that.

Generally, sure. Certainly reduced. Kabash starts with a schwa. Kibosh may start with the roses vowel instead of the Rosa's one.
