@Mitch @tchrist Je parle en peu francais
02:47
@S.M.T On ne harcèle pas les petites grenouilles par ici, de peur qu'elles arrêtent de croasser.
03:11
@CowperKettle Russia removed all the flags from its rocket except India’s & Russia’s.
@CowperKettle Ahmedinejad hacked, I praesume?
I hope india doesn’t face any kind of sanctions.
@Cerberus Anonymous ( Is a hacking group )
Sanctions by whom?
@S.M.T Could be any hacker.
US , UK , France etc
It depends.
If India should help Russia avoid sanctions, it may be sanctioned itself.
03:12
Could be any hacker , definitely
I've heard talk of a rupee fund to help Putin avoid sanctions.
That would seem unwise.
Yes
As long as India stays completely neutral, it should not be the object of any sanctions.
Hmm. True , maybe they won’t get any sanctions
Where ru from ?
Holland
03:17
K , great.
@S.M.T moi non plus
this may have already been posted recently
Hmm , interesting
so forgive my lapse in memory if it has
or forgive me my apologeticism if it hasn't been posted recently
I can't remember what can't remember
if you know what I mean

[ SmokeDetector | MS ] Offensive body detected (46): Meaning of "give as few f*ck as I did" ✏️‭ by Denise Rocha‭ on english.SE

@CowperKettle this is more likely, I think

2 hours later…
09:10
@tchrist Don't confuse crows and frogs. The former croassent, the latter coassent (even more the toads).
09:31
@CowperKettle this is so uncharacteristic of him that I can only think of two things: Either his account got hacked, which is not uncommon for Twitter users, and I can imagine him being the sort of guy that sets their password to be their birthday. Or because this regime dumped him, he's trying to cozy up a bit to Western media for whatever reason, and FWIW as odd as this sounds it has precedent. And of course, by cozying up, I mean one uncharacteristically progressive thing . . .
. . . the politician says that pisses off the alt-right. But I don't trust him to be this savvy, I think he just got hacked.
I mean, you can replace him with Bush jr., I think. All in all, if this is the case, his jab at Putin is definitely insincere, at the very least.
10:17
@Cerberus what's the incentive for India to help Russia?
10:43
@tchrist I'll submit a recommendation letter to the institute :D

In India, we remove the sign boards we don't like.
Just kidding. Probably hit by some vehicle. But the thing is nobody bothers about it. It's been 1 month I'm noticing it in same condition.

Just ahead of that speed breaker, there's a railway crossing.
@Vikas by the looks of it, it certainly broke someone's speed
@M.A.R. lol I didn't think about that
I also doubt that it's actually done by some accident. It often happens in India that people remove/change things on roads.
I don't think signs are supposed to be like that though. They're supposed to come off easily so they won't stop the colliding vehicle too fast
I don't have any proof.
@Vikas It happens everywhere more or less.
12:12
@M.A.R. I'll show you a specific example tomorrow.
@M.A.R. come off easily = they should be light weight / delicate? So they don't cause damage to vehicle and get down easily?
@Vikas Yeah
Cool. Yeah.

> Russia's foreign minister Sergey Lavrov has said the idea of nuclear warfare is "not in the heads" of Russians.

Lavrov told journalists that it was "clear that World War Three can only be nuclear," Russian state media RIA Novosti reported Thursday.
not in the heads meaning here? They aren't afraid of using it or they don't want to use it at all?
14:17
@Vikas it's pretty literal. The latter.
@jlliagre Thanks, I think I never realized these were considered different and not interchangeable. It was just the word that came to mind.
Of course, he's saying that so the next threat will have more weight. It doesn't mean anything.
@M.A.R. Okay. In that case it surprises me a bit. Because earlier they said prepare the nuclear weapons.
@Vikas the spin they're going for, I suspect, is "We have a lot of common sense, but don't force our hand."
Meaning "Whatever happens is your fault, not ours".
@M.A.R. Oh
Well
14:49
> Listen to what Mr. Putin is saying. For years, the West listened to Mr. Putin but didn’t hear him; it is just now waking up to the existential challenge he poses to the world order. Ukraine has never underestimated his intentions — not since Russian aggression against our country began in earnest in 2014 — nor his willingness to achieve domination by any means necessary.
> This is Moscow’s way of war. Mr. Putin’s forces will continue to terrorize the country to induce surrender. If they don’t succeed, they will burn it all down. It’s either bow or vanish; no third option is allowed.
>
Standing with us today and helping us is the only way to achieve peace for all and ensure that history does not repeat itself — so that our future does not echo Europe’s darkest time.

What is this called?
It's different from fence or barbed wire fence.
@Vikas It's called a vehicle barricade.
They can be permanent, semi-permanent, or portable.
@RobustosupportsUkraine Oh. So I guess it is used to stop tanks and missile trucks?
It can be, but to stop tanks it would probably be bigger than what is pictured.
@RobustosupportsUkraine I mostly notice them in WW2
Yeah. At Normandy in WWII the obstacles were called "Rommel's Asparagus"
17:27
I just saw a video of Ukraine where they are making it using temporary metal parts or reusing other objects of metals
Yeah. Those would be anti-tank obstacles: ctvnews.ca/world/…
@RobustosupportsUkraine Is this precise word for it? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Czech_hedgehog
@Vikas That is one variety of it.
@RobustosupportsUkraine These look little different design.
If the obstacles are meant to stop tanks, go with anti-tank obstacles.
17:30
I found a video which has title: What Were Those Weird Metal Things on the Beaches During the Normandy Invasion?
The link I gave calls them anti-tank obstacles.
@RobustosupportsUkraine Oh yeah. I also watched probably same video on YT
Those are the ones using three beams with each beam perpendicular to the other two.
These are basically used in old style house roofs
The beams
Actually, cancel that "Rommel's Asparagus" comment. Those were meant to deny landing areas to aircraft, especially gliders.
17:33
Girder is exact name I guess for those beams
@RobustosupportsUkraine Cancelled!
It is also called I-beam
> The Czech hedgehog is a static anti-tank obstacle defense made of metal angle beams or I-beams
@Vikas Yes, I-beam is correct, or just "beam" ... and they're not necessarily Czech unless produced by the Czechs.
Oh it's a country name
BTW, to be effective against modern tanks such anti-tank obstacles must be anchored. Otherwise they are easily pushed out of the way.
@RobustosupportsUkraine What if the tank fires the hedgehog first?
@Vikas Also a possibility. But no obstacle is impervious to assault. Look at the invasion of Normandy. Many, many obstacles, but all were overcome.
17:48
@Vikas Sonic? Can outrun tank shells probably
@RobustosupportsUkraine Still better than nothing and also probably it is used to slow down enemy.
@M.A.R. Are you talking about some anime or movie? I haven't watched animated movies yet.
Sonic the Hedgehog is a Japanese video game series and media franchise created and owned by Sega. The franchise follows Sonic, an anthropomorphic blue hedgehog who battles the evil Doctor Eggman, a mad scientist. The main Sonic the Hedgehog games are platformers mostly developed by Sonic Team; other games, developed by various studios, include spin-offs in the racing, fighting, party and sports genres. The franchise also incorporates printed media, animations, feature films, and merchandise. Sega developed the first Sonic game, released in 1991 for the Sega Genesis, to compete with Nintendo's mascot...
Ok
I never knew about it
18:15
A caltrop (also known as caltrap, galtrop, cheval trap, galthrap, galtrap, calthrop, jackrock or crow's foot) is an area denial weapon made up of two or more sharp nails or spines arranged in such a manner that one of them always points upward from a stable base (for example, a tetrahedron). Historically, caltrops were part of defences that served to slow the advance of troops, especially horses, chariots, and war elephants, and were particularly effective against the soft feet of camels. In modern times, caltrops are effective when used against wheeled vehicles with pneumatic tires. == Name... ==
not the same thing as the bigger 3 perpendicular ibeams
but very similar and it has a weird name that is fun to know
These are good for stopping vehicles with tires, but not at all for tanks.
Nice
It sounds like it is English for -something- like the inside of a horses hoof, or a strange affliction of the throat.
But you'd totally accuse someone of making it up if you used it in Scrabble.
I played Scrabble only once in my life and left it in the middle 🤣
My colleague had this scrabble game he brought that in office. We played for 10 mins and then I never thought about it again.
🤣
He was so excited
18:20
He wanted to win so bad
I think he likes it that's why he owned/purchased it. So he asked me if I would like to play with him in office I was also excited as it was my first experience. But excitement died.
Maybe because the game letters/pieces were not so well made. It was hard to put them and arrange them. Maybe that's why I got bored.
Probably it was cheap
I once loved carrom board game very much. But after the invention of social media and cheap Internet, that love also died
I remember him saying "so should I bring it tomorrow again or not" and with a heavy heart I had to say "No".

I didn't want to say no, but I wanted to be honest.
Even though in-real-life games can be so great, having them online just makes it easier to play with people who want to do the things just like you.
on-line chess is like that
@Mitch I have played chess in Windows 7 only. That computer/bots never let me win in hard/expert mode so I played only for a few weeks.
19:25
Do you think pandemic is finally going away?
Or at least worst is over?
20:18
@Vikas Seems like it, but no one can reliably answer that question.
If pockets of unvaccinated population remain so, it's possible that a more resistant variant will appear eventually. But as far as locking things down and sitting at home getting fatter goes, that's probably over.

@Vikas Going away where? Thousands of people are still dying from it every day. That doesn't' sound very over to me.
All that's different now from a couple couple months ago is the slope, not the magnitude.
