@CowperKettle We have only one timezone as of now

@Mitch I missed yesterday's. I haven't lucked myself into the top 1000 yet, today
Hello everyone

1 hour later…
10:35
@Hairi Hi
Hi everyone . . . I've something embarrassing to tell. As you might know I'm learning riding. So today just before I was about to park the bike, it fell down and I also fell down :( It was my first experience.

Fortunately, I didn't have any injury and bike got only 2 tiny scratches. It was a soft fall by the way. And I fell down in the field which was also soft. So it all absorbed all the impact I guess.

Overall, it was nothing serious as I wasn't in the traffic, it was a small road in the fields and I was alone. But again, I'm still very embarrassed.
Why it happened: So I went to the edge of road to stop/park it. I thought there was plenty of space to put my left foot on the ground and get off the bike. But I was shocked to find it was just grass and there was no hard surface below it. The surface was only 1 foot down the grass. So as you can imagine, my foot kept going down and I lost balance and me and my bike fell on same side in the field away from road.
But I guess I learnt a valuable lesson: How to stop/park properly in such places.
@Vikas Glad to hear you are well. I imagined the situation and laughed a bit though
@Hairi Yeah I can understand it would be funny for others but it's very embarrassing for me 😀 I don't think I'll get "normal" again for next 2 days.
Best thing was it happened after I had stopped the engine. So there was no unwanted motion.
And my bike weight is only 117 Kg. Pretty light as compared to others.
11:36
In case you ever feel bad about how long it takes you to get a semantle word:
That's all my guesses in the top 1000. I had 524 guesses in total
12:23
@Vikas I want to buy a bike but I don't have a proper driving license category
With my car driving license I can only drive a bike up to 50cm^3
12:41
@Hairi I have only learner permit. I'll get the driving license once I'm confident enough and fix such silly mistakes.
@Hairi Lol. 50 cc you mean?
We don't need license for 50 cc here. My bike is 110 cc for that you need a license. And we have only one type of license for all kind of motorcycles. 1200 cc or 100 cc doesn't matter.
@Vikas Yep

@MattE.Эллен Nice!!
Was that no. 22?
I'm still on it.
@Vikas Engine? So this is a motorbike or something?
I didn't get as low as 22/1000
I'm sorry you fell.
@MattE.Эллен I meant puzzle number 22.
For <=50cc I can drive with my license for a car.
For >50cc I need to pass trough a course and special exam. The I would be able to ride more powerful bikes
@Cerberus Motorcycle I meant. It is 110 cc motorcycle.
14:07
@Vikas Pretty decent power
@Cerberus oh, I didn't do it. but the page says the answer is "level"
@Cerberus I'm more embarrassed because I never expected I will fall like this. I mean I could fall while riding that would seem obvious. But this I'm still thinking about it 🥲
And more embarrassed because it happened 1st time.
@MattE.Эллен Shhh big spoiler!
I'm still on it.
Or was.
@Hairi Haha. I can afford only that.
This is what I had before you said that.
14:10
I wanted 125 cc but there wasn't much difference. And the ones I liked were expensive.
It is indeed the word you mentioned.
Very difficult indeed!
@Cerberus can you do past puzzles?
@Cerberus sorry, I didn't realise. I thought once a puzzle was gone it was gone
14:40
@MattE.Эллен I don't know!
@MattE.Эллен It's probably because I still had my browser open with the puzzle I was working on yesterday.
But I was really glad I now had a good excuse to end it haha.
15:09
@CowperKettle OK, yes, I think you are wise.

1 hour later…
16:27
@Cerberus I don't have the patience for that game. Either that or I don't get whatever technique there might be to win it.
16:39
Logro aprender la dura verdad.
16:59
ohhhh. I've had to do that. I did not enjoy it
I think the problem was mostly psychological: having to drink something that was going to force me to do something I was trying to stop doing was unsettling
17:15
@MattE.Эллен The only comfort you have is that doing all that is better than getting cancer.
@CowperKettle These time zone parents are very inconsiderate in naming their children. Don't they know a name like that draws bullies in school?
@Robusto I don't play it as avidly as Cerb and Matt but sounds like the trick is to squint so hard you can only make out abstract concepts. Then once you found out the word is close to "eat", "body" and "fungi", un-squint and try "mouth".
Of course, considering how many tries Cerb gets usually, I think he just grabs a vocab Gatling gun and sprays the algorithm until he gets results
@M.A.R. I guess I just don't get it and/or it's too much trouble. I'd rather do Wordle or some kind of anagram puzzle.
17:36
"In my mind majority of newspapers are more important for terrorists than terrorists themselves".
Does it mean newspapers are more useful for terrorists than us?
Oh. Again it was from TED. Anyway I got the basic idea of whole ted talk. I skipped this sentence as I got the point what the speaker wanted to convey.
@Vikas Is that verbatim? Or did you leave a "the" out before majority?
@Robusto Yeah. I just typed what I could remember from what he was saying. He used actually "the". Here's the timestamp if you wanna listen: youtu.be/29Vj0-TVHiQ?t=644
In any case, I would read that to mean that the news about terrorists and their actions are what amplifies the actual terror.
@Robusto I think you are right. I can relate it now with what speaker meant.
And yeah, after listening to what he's saying I think that's the case.
In military terms, it would be called a force multiplier.
In military science, force multiplication or a force multiplier refers to a factor or a combination of factors that gives personnel or weapons (or other hardware) the ability to accomplish greater feats than without it. The expected size increase required to have the same effectiveness without that advantage is the multiplication factor. For example, if a technology like GPS enables a force to accomplish the same results of a force five times as large than without GPS, then the multiplier is five. Such estimates are used to justify the investment for force multipliers. == Types == Some common...
17:56
@Robusto Thanks. Now that is when I sometimes need dictionary or help to understand such sentences/words ;) I tried to make sense the way you said a few days ago, but I might have misunderstood it.
But of course it wasn't very important sentence for whole talk. It was just an example that could be skipped that's what I did earlier.

Billionaire Carl Icahn targets McDonald's over pig welfare. I guess if someone attacks your family, they attack you.
20:10
Icahn is the guy who bought TWA in the '80s and stripped its assets for sale, ultimately pushing it into bankruptcy. The movie Wall Street's evil financier, Gordon Gekko, purported to be an amalgamation of several corporate raiders of the time, but the victim in question in that film was an airline.

@Robusto Pigs are awesome.

@tchrist: Good to see you back.

@Robusto I thought I'd come join you guys watching the world burn as Caesar I mean Kaisar the Tsar has crossed the Rubicon into Ukraine thus launching an invasion of a whilom-sovereign European state. And Neville Chamberlain is still wrong: there's no appeasing a monster, even if some Czechs speak some German.
