@CowperKettle well the religious people that haven't beheaded anyone and are not planning to are not necessarily less religious. If we're to label extremism as religiousness, then sure, tautologically, religious is dangerous because dangerous is religious.

@CowperKettle I managed to decrease my mins per km to 6:30
I feel like I could go further but I'm trying not to burn out myself because last time overenthusiasm cost me
@M.A.R. Well done! My average is 05:40! The Strava stats are a bit too flattering. I stop at traffic signs and sometimes go to a shop for a package of juice ))
Somewhy about 35 to 40 seconds/km gets lost in conversion from Endomondo to Strava
1. Minnesota has more Swedish chefs to teach smörgåsbord. 2. Colorado has more snowboarders. 3. Hawaii has more surfboarders. 4. Hungary has more distrust of its borders. 5. Hungry is more the native state of teenagers.
The key is that virtually everyone merges the pronunciations of boarder–border these days, not to mention Hungary–hungry.
While it's not impossible to find those who do not, it's not easy to do so either.
@M.A.R. Part of it is knowing that smorgasbord is a Swedish loanword, and in fact having widespread smorgasbords advertised as such rather than as a buffet is far more likely in the U.S, states settled by Scandinavians, especially Minnesota and Wisconsin.
@FaheemMitha And why should he not? If you think Assange is a force for good, you are in the minority. He's an arrogant jerk. That doesn't mean the trumped up charges of rape against him aren't bogus, mind you.
This stuff is almost always just political trolling/baiting. They have to throw a tantrum every once in a while in case people start doubting their insanity.
@tchrist Wait, why isn't he a force for . . . well, not good per se, but a force for revealing some of the bad shit politicians do? He could be an arrogant jerk and perform those duties well, right?
I mean, I have no idea about Assange's personality. I wasn't ever following the news about him before this. I dunno why he's an arrogant jerk, but from the one article I've read about him, he didn't seem to be the humblest of people either.
@M.A.R. Publishing mundane but very slightly embarrassing troves of email illegally obtained by Russian intelligence operatives for the express purpose of furthering the likelihood that Putin’s managed asset would prevail in the U.S. election rather than his foe is not a force for anyone’s good beyond that of Russia. Yes, I will call that wrong.
It was an act of war.
Hence Trump's offer of a pardon in return for covering up Russia's illegal involvement.
@Robusto A brand new fire (CalWood Fire) has sprung up very close to my house this afternoon, and mandatory evacuations are now up to first major road about a mile and a half to my north. And I'm still in Lake Geneva a 15-hour drive away because Boulder had AQI up above 500 yesterday due to the East Troublesome fire so I didn't already start back this morning. Really aweful.
"Very close" by fire standards, not by on-foot standards.
Correction, two major roads to my north, not just one. That's much farther, so like maybe 4 miles north of me not 1.5 miles north of me.
And.... it's just crossed the highway coming east down out of the mountains. If it keeps moving due east and doesn't duck any south, I should be ok. Just poisoned.
