I haven't found a Russian translation for "headjoint" in Multitran
The crime against nature or unnatural act has historically been a legal term in English-speaking states identifying forms of sexual behavior not considered natural or decent and are legally punishable offenses. Sexual practices that have historically been considered to be "crimes against nature" include masturbation, sodomy and bestiality. == History and terminology == For much of modern history, a "crime against nature" was understood by courts to be synonymous to "buggery", and to include anal sex (copulation per anum) and bestiality. Early court decisions agreed that fellatio (copulation per...

My new shoes, Salomon Sense Ride 3
They feel different from Nike's shoes. It's hard to run on tiptoes in the Salomons
They feel somewhat heavily cushioned at the heels.
Maybe to promote a particular running style

@CowperKettle I don't understand the relevance of the first three panels to the last one.

A woman has been detained by the police in Moscow by walking in the street with a red and white umbrella (yes, you read it right)
Putin and his criminal cronies are really pissing their pants when they see that some people love freedom and justice.

Q: Could you please give me advices and suggestions?

Mehrez KanzariI am 27 years and a few months old. I have an IT engineer degree and currently I have been working with Helpdesk for 10 months, which is my first work experience. I feel that I am working in something that doesn't suit my aspirations nor the value of the degree that I obtained, but I was forced t...

Where the fuck do I even migrate this. Workplace? Project Management? The Great Outdoors? Hinduism?

> Can someone make an arrangement of Sunyshore City from Pokemon DPPt, in a quartet, including piano, bass, drums and clarinet? Thanks.
That is weirdly specific.
Rule 34.

2:11 PM
@RegDwigнt Hey, no string bets in chat. Either call or raise, but not both in the same action.
@RegDwigнt All of the above?

I'm all in.

Any of the above?

Any in?

Just shove it.

-_-
^poker face

2:15 PM
@RegDwigнt Obviously a clarinetist.
@skullpatrol ^_^ My face after I double up.

Wait a sec, I'll go find an empty table to start our game on.

A ring game?

yup
no chips or passing cash; all payments by credit/debit cards

Seriously?

COVID rules, sorry

2:29 PM
They should bring back online poker.

nobody trust's it

That's not why it died. It's because the government cracked down on it.

that too

I forget which site was the one that got into trouble (Poker Stars?) but I know my son eventually got his money back. Something like $70,000. But he was on a lot of sites. And $70K wasn't big money for him.

@CowperKettle That seems like a bit of a stretch, but ok.
I see it's color coded, so that does make it seem more likely.
@CowperKettle What is the significance of red and white?
Someone should give Putin a copy of "Nineteen Eighty-Four" as a Christmas present.
2
Then again, it might just give him ideas.
@RegDwigнt Maybe Workplace. But it's quite a sad post. A reflection of all the millions of people out there who hate their job.
Though this chap apparently doesn't understand what being on topic means...

@FaheemMitha Red and white are the colors of the Belarusian national flag, under which the people of Belarus have been protesting a fraudulent election for the last couple of months. Putin supports Lukashenko, the dictator of Belarus

4:04 PM
@CowperKettle Interesting. Still a bit of a leap to a red and white umbrella.

4:28 PM
@tchrist: My new atomic clock, the one that was holding to the correct time and not jumping back an hour? I wake up this morning to see it's now exactly ten minutes fast. How the hell does that happen? I can understand the hour jump as being something that messed with the DST. But on what planet does ten minutes fast make any sense at all?
Screw atomic clocks. I'm going back to sun dials and water clocks.

A: Why are there 3 columns in Group VIII of the Periodic Table?

MauriceIn the beginning of the $20$th century, the periodic table had $8$ columns, and not $18$ as today. Electrons and of course $spdf$ electrons were unknown. The numerous transition elements were included in this table by doubling the line between Argon and Krypton, then between Krypton and Xenon. It...

Somebody answered my question. Old question.

@CowperKettle Does that happen to you?

7:01 PM
@Cerberus Yes
But I make a break to go jogging

@CowperKettle As long as you're content with it, who cares?
I don't use my phone for extended periods of time, except when reading a novel.
But not in bed.

I'm egodistonic about it.

@Robusto hey this ain't no Texas Hold'em. This is SE rules. (A common shorthand for "shonky in more ways than there are ways".)
@FaheemMitha well there you go. That's the answer. That's how he found that job in the first place.
@FaheemMitha he read that book as a child. Just like myself. And unlike most people.

@RegDwigнt I read it as a child too.
When I was around 14-15, give or take.
When I was a child, I thought of Eric Blair as a personal friend.
I answered a question about it on one of the SE sites, and realised that I'd read it so many times I had basically memorized the text. Which actually isn't that hard to do. It's a short book, and for the most part the style and sentence structure is quite simple.
That should be "are quite simple", I think.

7:53 PM
Yeah, I read it, very long ago.
The oppressiveness and the use of language as a theme are certainly worth a read.

8:12 PM
Has anyone read Homage to Catalonia?

8:26 PM
Not I.

2 hours later…
10:01 PM
@CowperKettle an extension of the meme is "Canadian rock"

@RegDwigнt This ain't no party. This ain't no disco. This ain't no fooling around.
This ain't no Mudd Club, or C. B. G. B., I ain't got time for that now
