@Cerberus So the deal was: buy the phone outright for $525. They give you $150 off on a "tab" (so you pay $375). The tab is reduced each month by 10% of your pre-tax bill. So it takes about 3 years to pay off, but if you want to quit any time then you just pay off what you still owe.
I made a spreadsheet and calculated the total 3-year cost of owning this phone and getting this data plan. With Wind (my provider) it was $2000 over 3 years. With Rogers/Bell/Telus (the big 3 providers around here), even though they'd give you the phone for free or for $100 (but it's a 3-year contract with high termination fees), the data plan and all the phone plan addons that aren't in the base price come to $4000 over 3 years
Overall, I am satisfied with the price I am paying. It seems fair to me and it's damned cheap compared to the other carriers. However: the service is shitty, so shitty that I can't recommend it.
@Gigili we all win. Except when Cerb argues, then nobody wins.
@Cerberus well, as I've said before, buying phones on the Internet is not something we do much around here. It's too complicated and the carriers give them away.
@Gigili No, it ends in tears all around. 3x as many tears for Cerb because he has three heads to cry with.
@MrShinyandNew安宇 It would be a fair comparison. Most people here pay way too much too, because they buy phones at the wrong places (carriers) or pay double the price in installments on an expensive plan.
