@Educ never start any introduction with "according to dictionary". That is a) trite, lazy and unimaginative, and b) it is nonsensical. It shows a basic lack of understanding of how dictionaries work. I know many people say that regardless, but that only makes it worse. Don't be one of those people.

TV is not an abbreviation of television according to dictionary. TV is an abbreviation of television, period.

We first come up with words and meanings, and then decades later dictionaries decide to include that information. Dictionaries don't tell us what words mean. We tell them.

Besides, if I've learned anything from ELU, it's that nowadays absolutely nobody in the world entire has ever heard the word "dictionary".

Anyway. I'm still not sure what the question is that you are supposed to answer. "What is a TV" is very different from "what is TV".

For the introduction I would start before TV existed. What media were there before it, and how and why TV came about. Then in the process of explaining that you can touch on how it worked on a technical level. How it became gradually accepted, where and when. How it evolved. And then how it changed the media landscape and the lives of people.

Write a basic outline of your entire speech in a couple sentences. A table of contents. A map. Then use that map to go from your starting point to your destination.

Any journey is easy if you simply follow a line on a map.

If you have trouble starting, do this. Imagine you only have half a minute for your talk. 30 seconds. That is all you have. Tell your audience the most important things they need to know in those 30 seconds.

Then imagine you have two minutes. 90 seconds more. Which of your points would you like to talk more about? Maybe a paragraph instead of one sentence.

Then imagine you have five minutes. Or ten, or however many you actually have.

Then at the very end, when you have your entire talk, do the opposite thing. Go over it and try to remove stuff that is not actually important. Or maybe boring. Or maybe you're repeating yourself, saying the same thing twice.
