I believe and agree with you that A. was probably less dangerous, since he could be controlled by the Supreme Guy.
00:24
@RegDwigнt I thought you were supposed to be the One True King.
@RegDwigнt There is still a long way to go.
@Cerberus Since there is A. and there is B., C. must be for Cerberus.

@Cerberus Ah. That's sad.
But do you know on what charge Lula is detained?
A house he was offered and never moved into, or something to that effect. Ludicrous compared to what I hear about the oligarchic media moguls and privatization predators.
But yeah. People have different judgments and convictions. Yesterday I was hiking with a group of friends, one of them a Russian young woman who openly confessed that she knew about almost all the criticisms that I leveled against Putin and at the same time she voted for him for reasons beyond my understanding.
@Cerberus Right? There is some give and take or check and balance between the two. Greatly one-sided, admittedly.
But in the Brazilian system it seems B can just sail the country back to military dictatorship without facing too much systematic opposition or friction.
It's like a young democracy unequipped with the means to preserve itself.
*Correction: a young Russian woman
@Færd Haha, I know a score of such women.
And men, presumably?
"Because he is strong"
"Because everybody steals. So what if Putin is a thief? All presidents steal."
"Because I like him as a man"
Pfft.
"Because stability is the most important thing"
02:52
"We have already progressed so much as a society under him"
But the main thing is: everybody steals. They are 100% sure that corruption is everywhere in the world, politics is dirty, and Putin is just like Trump and just like all other leaders.
It's a refrain, it's impossible to get through this argument. It's like being in country filled with zombies.
Well, it is possible, but I get your idea.

@Mitch The biggest change that smart phones made to the disadvantaged around here--easy and affordable access to information that others take for granted. It was amazing to me that when I first began going out into communities without, IMO, adequate food, clothing, warmth, utilities, shelter...what they wanted most--information. Who, what, when, where, why...so they could figure out how by themselves. Really.
They may ask my opinion on something I have a lot of experience with, but they don't need me to find out general information anymore. That's readily available to many now...and it's a beautiful thing. Trust me.
05:48
They were called Obama phones here at first. They were given to the poor in order to call 911 and teachers, doctors, lawyers, etc. It opened up a whole new world to them...and they're not going back. It was such a great gift...made the biggest impact on their quality of life...and probably very few realize that. And for the general public--videoing everything that goes down--that is huge!
Hello everyone
Is it more appropriate to say: Memories of travel covered in dust or 'memories of travel faded in dust' or 'memories of travel lost in dust'
and Should I make it a question on main site
covered in rust or covered by rust
in what context are you saying this?
no context, or say anchor covered in rust or anchor covered by rust
if you haven't used a memory in a long time it would be covered by dust
I would say, covered with rust
it always depends on context

Q: Is there a verb that concisely describes this facial expression?

Sarah LongthorneYou know that face you make when you're worried or appealing to someone, where the insides of your eyebrows curve up towards your hairline? The sort of face that Puss makes in the Shrek films when he's begging for something. Is there a one-word way of communicating that on the page? A "she X-ed a...

Wikipaedia.
While it does sound less serious than the corruption of many other leading Brazilian politicians, three courts found him guilty.
I must admit I don't now enough about the Brazilian justice system, but I would be inclined to believe that he was guilty?
@Færd @CowperKettle Right, I'm not surprised to hear it: many people feel that corruption or repression are better than the alternative.
@Færd What are you referring to?
@Færd I don't know about that: only if the army truly supports a coup d'état.
Which I am not convinced of at the moment.

Q: What's a concise word for "difficult to explain"

ZayaI'm looking for a word similar to "ineffable" but without the connotation of impossible to understand, just difficult to understand. @RegDwigнt That's pretty much the whole plot of King Ralph.
See?
20:05
I don't see, but I did see. The movie. When I was 14.
I vaguely remember that King Ralph watched his buddies die face down in the muck, and so everyone around him entered the world of pain. Hell, he even got a toe by 3 o'clock that afternoon. Great movie.

Re: "bad intentional lie"...my problem with this question...why is the first person in the scenario "Person 2" and the second person in it--"Person 1"? I mean, that just really makes you question...everything.
