@MetaEd There's a clown hierarchy. Not the traditional European one of white > auguste > character. The hierarchy of how cool a clown is.

So there's your basic circus clown. Fall on their asses. Shoot water at each other. Help clean up elephant crap. They are the base line.

Above them is the rodeo clown. Now they are cool. Risk their lives. They don't fall on their asses. They are peak 'clown cool'.

Just below that is the birthday clown. Balloon animals. Children peeing their pants when they see you. Dreams of clown college. Real job? Yeah, that's my only job. Really just circus clown wannabes.

A mime? At the bottom. More physical control over their body than an olympic gymnast/broadway dancer, but to what end? Kid's games. A wall, a ladder, are they trying to do a .. bicycle? Also they have the French thing always nagging at them. Uncool man, uncool.
