@Mitch Now, now. Think of poor Hitler.
@Færd Why not? Anarchism wants a weak state. And it wants progress and more personal freedom.
Oh, wait, that was about Mitch's graph?
I meant my two dimensions.

1. Socio-culturally conservative/reactionary versus progressive. This generally coincides with less personal freedom versus more personal freedom.

2. Less state intervention versus more state intervention. This generally coincides with less redistribution of wealth by the state versus more redistribution.
@MetaEd OK. I mentioned static variables because it was my way of trying to make sense of closures. No doubt there are differences.

Q: A Term for a writer producing a lot content

Anoop RamakrishnaThis might be a very straightforward question. I am looking for a word to describe an author who is going through a very creating phase and is churning out a lot of work. I am unable to recollect a very commonly used adjective for this. Usage might look like: From 1905 to 1908 he published seve...

@Mitch "removal of as much government control as possible" doesn't necessarily mean "100% personal and economic self-governing". The latter is an extra assumption you add to the former (as a corollary, I suppose). And I don't think anarchism challenges only government control.
@Cerberus Yeah. Of course there are clashing definitions for anarchism, as are for any of these political terms. But to me, anarchism is not after maximizing personal freedom. Absolute personal freedom doesn't mean anything to me. That's chaos.
.
Anarchism seems to me to be an attitude, a kind of hope, and an untamable approach to the question of power and tyranny, without setting a definite state of society as the goal, because it's not clear now what utopian human society would look like. It's an open problem of a complex system. Anarchism offers a way to try to solve it.
I think any sensible anarchist is after striking a balance between various layers of society by means of always challenging the status-quo narrative of power that is taken for granted at the time and trying to dismantle it for the better, if it can't explain its existence.
And those layers range from individual persons to smaller to larger associations of people (eg families, corporations, nations, etc, if any of these are to have a place in a sustainably and stably "just and free" human society).
Therefor you can find anarchists sweeping the whole spectrum between anti-state nationalism to various forms of socialism. I find some of them contradictory and ludicrous, but nevertheless I think they all come under the umbrella term of "anarchism".
I realize it's too vague to fit somewhere in those squares with sharp vertices and well-defined axes.

@Færd Yes, that's approximately Chomsky's explanation of anarchism.
I don't personally know anything about it, though.

And I think (if it needs to be said), that political positions are far too complex to fit in a two-dimensional diagram.
yeah, left-wing and right-wing is an over simplification
which is one-dimensional actually :)
Which one is correct?

Q: Single word for the emotion of being alone in a crowd?

HariCan anyone suggest to me a single word for the emotion of being alone in a crowd

13:56
@Cerberus Hm...interesting comparison. Whose mom was nicer? But I think that's unfair. It's hurtful to moms in general.
@Færd I don't understand your understanding of the words. Those two sentences are pretty close, except for your leaving out the 'personal' part.
I'm pretty sure anarchism challenges -all- government control. What other control are you thinking of?
@Færd the second dimension, of government control of personal situations, is things like freedom of speech, freedom of religion, sex choices, alcohol/drugs.
@FaheemMitha yes, it's all very complex, but there are general trends and categories and the diagram helps explain some of the terms.

@Mitch Government control is only one kind of power. The other obvious one is private power, notably corporate.
@Mitch Yes, some of them.
@Mitch Actually, Hitler's sisters, who don't get a lot of press, were apparently quite fond of him.
And he seems to have to gone out of the way to keep them from harm.
Though he also seems to have thought they were morons.
