Q: Can you say ‘wrap about’ when you actually meant by ‘wrap around’?

user259787I read the expression in a scientific article which said something like ‘wrapping magnetic particles about the metal core...’. The actual meaning is supposed to be ‘wrap around’ but just curious to see if it’s possible to use ‘about’ with ‘wrap’ to represent a grander idea of ‘surrounding’?
